Flashback Friday
2020-06-12 02:12 pmIt’s Friday! I hope you had a good week. Every week I check the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back 7 years to the 2nd week of June, 2013.
#3 Shinhwa “This Love”
This was the single from the group’s “The Classic” album, which they released for their 15th anniversary. And what a gift to us all! It’s still a damn bop! The song is still fun, and the video at this point is iconic. This is also the era that reminds me why Eric was my Shinhwa bias from back in the days lol he looks so good omg. Now, let’s check out the choreography MV because we deserve it.
#2 4Minute “What’s Your Name?”
This is one of the group’s biggest hits, and would become one of the biggest selling songs of the year. I couldn’t get into this song back then, and it’s still not doing much for me now either. Here’s the group doing the song for their live stage at MBC Gayo that year.
#1 Lee Hyori “Bad Girl”
When Queen Lee Hyori made her return with a new album after three years, “Bad Girl” was one of the singles she promoted. Didn’t like the MV, but I liked everything else about this era. She looked so fab! Most of the major broadcasters omitted some of the choreography, but this stage was on her special comeback show, so it’s all here. Along with a little baby Shownu!
Honorable Mentions
#7 2PM “A.D.T.O.Y”
This wasn’t a big hit for the group, but idgaf I loved this shit lol! This was the second single off of their “Grown” album. I think I liked this era. I don’t think I’ve seen the video since then though, I don’t remember most of it at all. Is that Wooyoung in the beanie? I’m into it. I’m not into this choreography at all though, it reminds me of this.
#10 Togewol “Number 1”
This was the duo’s last release before Lim Kim went solo because Denny Do had to leave Korea. She went on to release “All Right” a month later. This video is cute, it tells the story of how the two came together through social media. The pair got together at a New Jersey high school when Lim Kim approached Denny Do before the Superstar K3 auditions in New York. And then it follows them through their journey on the show. They would release one more song in 2014, and have been in hiatus since then.
