SBS shuts down "Running Man" bulletin board over cyberbullying

SBS has shut down the bulletin board on its website for variety show "Running Man," citing malicious comments made against its cast members and the show.

"We decided to set the viewers' bulletin board to private because of abusive language, excessive defamatory remarks and impersonation of cast members. We ask for your understanding," read a statement published on the official website Monday.

The comments started when it was announced that actress Jun So-min would take a one-month break starting in April for unspecified health reasons. Her agency IAM said it notified SBS about her decision and received the broadcaster's approval.

But some speculated that her leave of absence might be related to a social media message that her younger brother disclosed on April 13.

Some internet users threatened Jun, telling her to drop out of the SBS program. "If not, all her family members will receive curse-ridden social media messages every day," one wrote. Another wrote, "Someone should tell her to leave."

SBS decided to shut down the message board to protect the rest of the cast from malicious comments.

it only took two years. why are these people so hateful. honestly i know it’s not the cast members’ responsibility and they so clearly have great relationships outside the show but i wish the other members would stand up for somin and sechan. i can’t forget when hong jinyoung said that kjk fans were threatening her and he laughed it off. i know she said it as a joke but he should have said don’t do it that’s not ok. idk, something!!

i can't believe he laughed it off saying "they are just protective of me"
it's not a joke, she was clearly done and over with it. i'm fine with him laughing it off on the show because it's not a place for too serious stuff but he should've said something about it on his instagram after the show aired

not only that, somin and sechan have also already said it on the show multiple times that they are bothered by all the hate they are getting "x OUT" and stuff like that, at least yoo jae suk comforted them and stated that it was, indeed, a hard situation

it really saddens me that people are still attacking sechan and somin, especially the latter gets it really bad.
they are both such wonderful additions to the show, people really should get over themselves
i wish RM or SBS would make a clear statement about it that they no longer tolerate it :/ it's just sad that they have to go through so much hate just to be on the show
it's clear they work their butts off to make it fun, people often think variety is easy but it's super super hard, especially for such a long running variety show to still make it fun every week. i'm really glad they are here and i hope they, at least, feel a little better now the message board is closed. i hope they will continue to make an effort to protect their members and also each other (speaking up about it)
