i'm sorry to asking things like this and if i bother you just tell me but you seem to really know about exo things lol so i wonder, why do you believe Obsession didn't do as wel phsical copies wise as the past 2 releases? for me it did well (820k+ is a lot) but fans expected more and considering Baekhyun alone has all this power and i don't think solo stans are the majority of people buying this it made me wonder.

not bothersome at all. tbh i wasn't really keeping up with numbers or fan response for obsession but all year some exo-l were upset about the delayed comeback to the end of the year instead of doing it before enlistments, spending time on SUPERM (a lot of exo-l were especially pissed at the group existing), the conspiracy about sm sabotaging exo for NCT and feeling like EXO aren't the favourite child anymore, their faves not getting enough solo work, and some fans hold on to money to buy the repackage which didnt happen.

so while the comeback was a success a lot of fans have bitter tastes in their mouths about it and downplay that.

Baekhyun's always been top 3 popular among fans and I think a lot of non-fans liked his last solo album/got in to him from SUPERM. That and I think exo-l got their back up about Kang Daniel's numbers and didn't want a repeat of last year lol so they mass bought.

i read that his chinese fan base got like 350k by themselves and like damn, that's a lot, but if he is in top 3 then who is the most popular lmao? Kyungsoo? Sehun?? now i got curious, which one is the ranking lol.

And yeah, he seems to have a lot of solo stans but i really don't believe his solo stans are bigger than the exols who like him so i was surprised, but maybe it's what you thought, and for me at least the last group CB was a success, 820k+ without 3 members is a lot (and the TT was very divisive) but some exols really are annoying and now that Baekhyun sold this much were even more annoying with the sales.

Sehun, Baekhyun and Chanyeol have been top 3 since debut I think but I don't know the exact ranking (mostly cuz my faves are lowest in popularity so those numbers are meaningless to me lol) but I'd guess it's Baekhyun as number 1. those three have the biggest fanbars and selling power in the current lineup

true but my basing is off more than just name recognition because he can't really touch pcy/baek in terms of solo single sales/solo charting, solo album cover/merch sales, magazine cover demand as a factor. sehun mayyybe but sehun's fanbar is more powerful than anyone else's afaik and that pushes him to get more changes (god knows why because if he wasnt the definition of maknae privilege he wouldn't get much lol)

Kai/Xiu round out the top 5 for sure and that might legit just be because they haven't had as many opportunities as the others.

Thinking on what you said I would say that Chanyeol is bottom of top 3, he has a lot of fans but they don't really do much. As seen in how his youtube channel has way less subscribers than yt gang even though he puts out the most content.

Eh, I disagree. All the videos (except 2 or 3) include Chanyeol and mainly focus on him. MQ is hardly a presence since Chanyeol is clearly the dominant of the two and the fiasco with their first video.

who are your faves (besides Kyungsoo)? and lol, i always thought Kyungsoo was one of the most popular ones, but i did think that was the top 3 at first, like for my favs i assume Kai is 5th, Suho is 6th and Lay is 8th bc he hasn't promoted in Korea

but at the end of the day, all of that is meaningless and fans are weird and they will turn on them if they ever do anything they don't like so idk how good it is to rely on popularity with fans lol, i can only imagine how vicious Baekhyun k fans would be if the ever dates or does what Chen did.

exactly! popularity's also rly hard to gauge when everyone is massively popular already (even the non-pop members are still raking in $$$ and at the peak of their careers). It's not like the smaller groups where you know exactly who's most popular because they're also actors/on variety while the other members are only allowed out for comebacks lol

You have great taste! Chen's voice is my fav, then Kyungsoo's, if Chen had something besides ballads (or at least rock ballds) i would love his solo stuff because he really has a great voice, the best one after SHINee's Jonghyun (who is my fav in that group) and flawless taste with Kai lol.

and yeah, you are right, they all are loaded and set for life with successful careers so who cares, i honestly want to see them at least one time but i live in latin-america so that never is going to happen </3

Kyungsoo's definitely the most popular outside of the fandom, if that makes sense. Like, with the general public who don't listen to idol music. A lot of the Korean public know him through his acting and most don't even know he's an EXO member.

Baekhyun and Chanyeol have definitely been in the top 3 since debut but Sehun didn't get up there until some time later I believe. The popularity of the members fluctuates a lot, but ChanBaek have been pretty consistent. I remember when Minseok used to be one of the least popular and now he's definitely one of the most popular - how much he trends compared to the other members is quite frankly insane, I am so fascinated by his popularity. Jongin used to be more popular but now he's lost some popularity. Regardless, I'd say that Minseok and Jongin are still somewhere in the top 5. I'd say now Sehun is most definitely in the top 3.

Looking back, I think Kris and Luhan were definitely in the most popular members for sure - Luhan more so than Kris.

Honestly lately i've been a little annoyed at everything fandom/twitter related and it has made me to be not as excited as i wanted about this album but i do love Bungee, the albums seems pretty cool, he deserves all the accolades he has, but also the last one about the hourly UL seems a bit dumb? lol, idk, sometimes kpop chart accounts (and well, chart accounts in general) have these accomplishments that are meaningless at the end, it reminds me a bit of football "records" that are useless

wow wow wow baekhyun! i read some number predictions a couple of dats ago but to actually see him being the best selling soloist is huge! i'm really happy for him! lol i remember last year when i was afraid he would go the ballad route but he pleasantky surprised me with solid pop r&b albums (filled with bops!).

it takes me at least a week of listening to anything to develop my feelings and thoughts. my first thoughts are that it really reminds me of city lights - i think his style and preferences for his music as a solo artist are very clear. i think we get to hear more of his range and the particular qualities of his voice with this album. i still find a lot of the music to not be strongly melodic.
