the thing is, the entire cast is so cute together behind the scenes. lee min ho and kim go eun look like they really enjoy each other’s company. we know they both can (mostly) act. which means...the script. which i guess we all knew wasn’t gonna be great but at least they’re usually fun.

def most of the scenes last week were filler. the kiss was uh weird and poorly timed. i was also surprised that she missed him sooooo much at the end. there was no in-between with the emotions lol. the navy/war scenes were also out of place. but lol when she was back in seoul i was like how?? didn’t they say the japanese were 20 minutes away from crossing into their territory, how does he have time to drop her off and wtf with the weird in-between bad cgi world.

i knew there was something weird with that recording tho! i wonder what the meaning/significance is.

anyway i’m gonna keep watching, it’s not at unwatchable stage for me yet. surprisingly i still enjoy it even with its flaws.

Same about her being back in Seoul! Like??? It was so urgent but they had time to go have a weird moment in that awful CGI place and it was so annoying. And they didn't explain for a while how she even got back and I so annoyed with that whole plot point. The beginning of ep 5 was weird too. They got to Kingdom world and were heading to the stables and then did a flashback to the in-between world and I was so confused what was going on.

There's a lot to complain about but I'm still enjoying it too. Sometimes mutually complaining helps me enjoy it more haha.

This drama is so frustrating. Usually this writer has a lot of great side characters but in this show I don’t really care about them because the plot threads are all over the place and they were still introducing more and more characters in episode 4&5! I don’t feel any connection with the leads because there was no time spent building their Romance it’s just there. The 2 small scenes Kim Go Eun has with the Kings body guard were filled with more chemistry than any she’s had with the king. And yet I still watching 😔

Seconding skipping this, what a disaster waste of a drama. 2 years later and I still get Youtube recommendations of scenes (which I didn't originally watch and have checked my YouTube history to make sure I don't need to clear out anything???) and it makes me angry every time lol.

Fun fact, I saw half of that before dropping it because I got too busy with my studies (not because I hated it actually lmao). It had terrible ratings and everyone and their mothers dislike it but honestly............. I loved the Woo Dohwan/Kim Minjae/Moon Gayoung trio.

The trio is the only bright spot of Tempted. I had high hopes for that drama coz I like the movie from which it was said to be based on (Cruel Intentions).

And yup...My Country is a good drama to watch not just for Woo Dohwan but also because Yang Sejong, Jang Hyuk and Seolhyun were all amazing in it.

definitely felt like filler episodes. i'm not a fan of how quiet tae eul's become but im assuming it's cause she focused on her case. i'm actually excited about next week's episode since we catch a certain rabbit with a clock!

Episode 6 was better than ep 5 (except for the war scenes). It explained a lot of things and was more entertaining.
Also the uncle's story makes me think of old tales when people would make an agreement with the devil to build a bridge or become rich. I wonder how it's gonna end.

I think what was lacking in the first episodes was the comedy. Usually the first half of kdramas is lighter and at the middle it becomes more dramatic. Even when the topic is serious (like North Korea) or when the main leads are boring (half of the time) there will be humorous situations and funny supporting characters.

Also, it seems that things are not developped properly, like they don't get to the bottom of what could happen. I feel like a teacher reading a dissertation and saying you should develop more, what happens next? What's the conclusion? When he kissed her and she didn't react I was disappointed. Well, the reaction was in ep 6 but it felt unfinished. If things are explained later but we don't have the excitement, where is the enjoyment?

Woo Dohwan is gorgeous and he's working the double character. I'm ready for Yeong and Goo Seo Ryeong to form the ultimate power couple!!

It's not related to the post but I don't remember if you said you have watched The Secret Life of My Secretary. If not, and if you are still looking for a romantic drama, I really recommand it. I watched 9 episodes in 2 days! At the end of each episode I wanted to know what's gonna happen next. It has the little sparkles this drama doesn't.

I saw that and it's probably my favourite Korean romcom I have ever seen! So cute, I was grinning throughout each ep!! Galhee/Minik ftw!!!!!!

On a serious note though, I love that one so much. It strikes the perfect balance between a good story with adequate emotional development and the fluff you'd expect from a typical romcom. Perfect in every way.

Their love story and chemistry was so nice to see. I will probably watch some scenes again because I feel like I wasted the enjoyment by going so fast but I wanted to see the moment she would tell the truth. I wish we could see more episodes of them but I guess that once the secret is revealed, it would be hard to continue the story.
Also Veronica Park!!! She was perfect! I always prefer when there's no competition with the second lead.

Oh me too! There was some really good, explicit criticism in there about Korea's labour and corporate culture. I remember one scene in particular where Galhee got her contract extension with MinIk and then Eul Wang goes: "He's giving you what you had a right to from the start, thus making you think that you won and staying loyal even though you are still being threated like crap from a labour point of view and nothing substantially has changed." and that HIT ME HARD

Veronica PARK. A queen, and icon - I loved Jaekyung's over the top acting so much because it fit the character to a tee. Seeing her and Galhee team up was so nice. I loved the scene with them being all happy and bubbly in the hopsital lmao

The editing in these episodes was so bad. My roommate and I kept being like...what, where are they now, why. For example, when Tae Eul was going back to her world, they were like "okay leave now, we gotta get on a ship" and we were like...but how is she getting back? The flute is the key to the portal, right? I was questioning all the rules that we had learned about this dimension hopping before they finally showed him opening up the weird portal land, which I absolutely hate lol. It looks stupid and the dialogue they had about it was so cheesy. Or the scene where Tae Eul was in Kingdom Seoul and passes Shin Jae on the street and we were like!!! He's here too! And then it was like multiple minutes later that we realized it was just a weird transition shot and it was the Shin Jae we knew.

Another complaint, I have zero idea how much time is actually passing. Apparently he was originally in the Republic for like a month? And then when she comes back, she says she doesn't see him again for a long time, but how long? They keep skipping forward and I'm just confused and annoyed by it.

They are really thinking I care more about this main couple than I do, but I did like the scene where he cooked for her and they had a nice discussion. The kiss was highly unnecessary and dumb looking.

The whole Japan Navy plot was very ehhhh, but it gave us Woo Do Hwan looking good in a uniform and the prime minister actually doing something rather than chasing around the king and complaining.

I'm still sticking with my theory that Shin Jae is the one who saves young Lee Gon with time travel. The fact that evil uncle is focusing on him must mean something. His backstory makes me so sad and I love him the most.

Also, theory. They've spent so much time on this Republic murder case that it has to be a situation where evil uncle has talked with that guy and the body they found is from the other world, right? And now his wife and kids are missing so he took them to the Kingdom world? That's my theory.

Random thoughts: I love having Jangmi on the detective team. Yeong's facial expressions towards Tae Eul were amazing. Two Woo Do Hwans meeting next week is going to be amazing. I feel like there's a lot of missed potential with this drama but it's still fun to watch and complain about lol.

I think the body they found is the uncle's body in the other world, the one who was sick. He should look like him to be believable. I don't know how he brought it though.
It makes me remember that there was a kid as well so the king exists in the other world but they didn't find his fingerprint. Therefore, the same face exists but they don't have the same characteristics?

Oh, I didn't explain myself well I realized. I was talking about the body that they found in the trunk in the first episodes that Tae Eul and her team are investigating. They talked with his wife and then she disappeared and they found the phone that Tae Eul is listening to and hearing things about the Kingdom world. So I'm theorizing that it was a situation like when evil uncle was talking to the pregnant lady--the "victim" from this world killed his doppelganger and left him here then went to the Kingdom world and later came back for his family and took them with him? IDK if I'm making any sense whatsoever.
