Hello! Back again for another First Love post!

Your first male bias. The first one that you got the hearteyes for. Was it their talent on stage? Amazing voice or dance skills? Or even off stage…is he variety gold? Maybe it was their style. Or their attitude. Maybe a little bit of all of the above and much more. (Yes, this is the same prompt as the last one, but today is one of those days where I’m running on 25% tbh).



For me, it was Yoo Seungjun. It’s been so long, so I can’t remember an exact song anymore, but I knew it was the late 90s. I still remember watching an MBC documentary about him when he was in visiting his family here in Southern California. Anyways, this love didn’t last too long, because I didn’t know about his banishment until it was all over the news and I had to look it up. TLDR version: he was born in Korea but moved to the US when he was a kid. When it came time to enlist, he was like “Yeah, I’m totally gonna enlist”, but instead became a US citizen so he wouldn’t have to go. Then Korea deported and banned him. Since then he’s been working in China. But he’s been trying for years to get a visa to go back to Korea, making public apologies (got down on his knees and cried and everything), and taking it all the way to the Supreme Court. Just a few weeks ago, they ruled in his favor and he could apply for a visa again, meaning there’s chance that he could return after almost 20 years. That actually wasn’t a TLDR, but it’s a wild ride lol.

Shinee was my 1st kpop group i got into and stan. It was the Ring Ding Dong/Lucifer Era. Lucifer was the 1st kpop song i learned in Korean.

i have been and always will be exclusively a girl group stan, but bts' rm is the only guy in all of kpop who really catches my eye. he seems like such a friendly, wholesome guy, he's charismatic and attractive, and i want to be friends with him.

I remember being into Jun.K, Junho, and Taecyeon from 2pm as they were the first boy group I got into, but idk if that was enough to call a bias. I just know the two J’s had great vocals that caught my attention, and Taecyeon was just hot. Lol

I’d say Rain was my first real bias. He’s so charming and talented in stage

I think I discovered Henry Lau and Onew around the same time? Well, I guess they both properly debuted in spring 2008, so....I apparently really loved soft looking boys who turn out to be utter messes that I have to dump as biases.

I don't reeeeally remember. I remember the girls very clearly! But going through my old blog and it miiiight have been TOP from Bigbang? 2ne1 was my first love and I would've discovered Bigbang through them quickly but anyway let's not talk about him

Let's talk instead about JR from Nu'est who I'm pretty sure was one of my earliest biases and the other male I can find early posts for on my old blog. I liked him and Ren but I think JR just inched it. Can't believe we came from being the sweetest, most charming, most mediocre rapper in the game to being the Nation's leader. I always liked how he was Mr Handsome Charisma onstage and then completely ridiculous offstage.

I don't know what the jokes are in the Nu'est fandom these days since they've achieved a different level of fame, changed their image slightly, and I've distanced myself from the fandom after Baekho's harrassment issue. Yea with the girl group bias - I had an immeadiate answer, Hara. But boys, I had difficulty because even though I started having favorites, bias is a little more than that (like actively seeking out more media featuring them since you’re fond of them so much) and yea I struggled

And yea I kind of wanted to put TOP as my first bias since I got super into him, but I didn’t find him till 2015. That and my love for him is dead 💀

Well, in this community I'm not even really sure I wanna go out and say who my first kpop love was lol

It was.. Leeteuk. I'm not a stan anymore, obviously, but I still do find him handsome at times and I do think that he can be a pretty good MC - and he is a good leader for his group. All his other faults are there. He's an attention seeker (and he knows it), that DM incident was.. creepy and well, there's more. Still, this asked of first loves so ^^

I think a lot of us who got into kpop around the height of certain 2nd gen boy groups will have first loves that we definitely don't have the same love for nowadays for very specific reasons lol. I'm definitely not going to judge anyone in this thread! They were simpler times and we didn't know

My first love will always be Park Hyo Shin. A friend mentioned me in the music video of Castle of Zoltar just because back in 2008. When Orkut was a thing. And I saw the music video and his voice was what won me over right away plus that song and the message in it.

He’s been number one all of these 12 years that have gone by. One of my dreams is to go to his concert one day.

I'm mainly a girl group stan so my first male bias is pretty recent: Do Kyungsoo. I got into him (and Exo more generally) during the Ko Ko Bop era cos his voice is amazing and he is just beautiful and wholesome. I still really love him, obviously.

I just realized I never used the word bias to refer to someone. I always say 'favourite member'. Saying 'bias' makes me feel like a mildly embarrassing aunt that tries to be down with the kids lol

Easy. Kim Jonghyun (happy early birthday!) I saw the MV for Replay and I thought he was so handsome, had a really interesting voice, and this bit of edge to him. I just remember being like WHO'S THAT 😍 and then I learned more about him and that was just it. I've been unwavering since 🥺

It's really wild thinking about how much my life has been impacted by him and SHINee, all for the positive. Perhaps without them, I wouldn't have taken up certain skills/hobbies, met certain people (including one of my dearest friends), or travelled to certain cities and countries. I'm really grateful to him and all of SHINee ❤💎

My first male loves switched pretty quickly. When I got into Kpop in 08 I stanned Yunho for a quick minute, then I went to Jonghyun, over to Nichkhun before I ended up with Changsung for a year or two.

Omg this brings back so many memories thinking about this, I was def heavily influenced by my older sisters so I listened to TVXQ, Shinhwa, GOD, and Big Bang because of them, but I have to say the first time I formed an actual attachment to a boy group would have to be SHINee! I was obsessed with Taemin and Key for their andro looks, but really the whole group had my full ass prepubescent/pubescent heart
I remember saving money in middle school to get Replay and begging my friend who went to go to Korea to bring me back any SHINee related things LOL

I was new to K-pop... Ring Ding Dong era... I was extremely confused... didn't understand what was happening... but then I saw the So Sick cover and thought "oh he can SING!!!" And then I went back and watched SHINee's previous videos and that was that. His voice is so unique, I could recognize it right away after only listening to SHINee for a few days.

Forever grateful for the art he's given us and that I could exist at the same time as him!

I'm PRETTY sure my first male bias was Brian Joo.

Obviously, BoA is my first female bias, and Brian and her were around each other frequently when they were doing the early 00s SM stuff (I know now that it was probably because of them sharing a manager until... well... you know...), but whatever. They're still probably my K-Pop OTP. There was a picture of them holding hands, arms stretched out, looking in opposite directions of one another. They both had fabulous hair and I was like "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

my first bias was taemin!! i found it very inspirational that he was a year older than me and he was pursuing his dreams! it gives me motivation to pursue my dreams (which are a work in progress). 2020 makes 10 years since my sister showed me the ring ding dong video.
