Jessica changes release date of her book, will now be published on the same date she left SNSD 👀

Just in case you missed it, former SNSD member Jessica has written a t̶e̶̶l̶̶l̶-̶a̶̶l̶̶l̶ YA novel about a Korean-American teenager in training to become the next major K-pop star. The book was supposed to come out on October 6th but has now been pushed forward to September 29th (USA)/September 30th (Korea)... which happens to be the date she ̶w̶̶a̶̶s̶̶ k̶̶i̶̶c̶̶k̶̶e̶̶d̶̶ ̶̶o̶̶u̶̶t̶ left her former group.

I'm petty so I won't lie, I'm enjoying the shade 👀 It's also a clever way for her to make Kpop fans care about her release even more, without having to mediaplay around it. The only other good date she could have picked would be 08/05 (SNSD's debut) but even this one wouldn't be as impactful. So not just a petty choice, also a marketing one.
On a more personal note, it's also just after my birthday!!!

I wonder what this will mean for the fandom(s).I remember 2014 being really stressful for me with fans and antis tearing themselves apart. SNSD were my everything (I'm exaggerating but you get what I mean) and here on Omona as well, all the SNSD-related posts were toxic. I'll probably buy the book to read it, but avoid going online for a few weeks.

i don't think it's necessarily that jessica is being petty. she just knows that her profile isn't as big now that she left snsd so this would be the perfect way to drum up publicity and attention for the book to make sure it sells well. she knows how much importance k-pop fans place on dates with all those random ass 100 day 200 day 436 day etc. etc. anniversaries, so even if they resent her they will get copies to hate-read too. we stan a marketing and PR queen
