With kpop, my first impressions can vastly vary to how I feel about a song in the long run. Whether it's a month later, a week later, hell after a second listen the day of - at first I'm like 'I don't like this' to 'no wait I like this!' (as
So since there were a lot of releases in February - which song changed your mind? Maybe you disliked it initially but now it's on replay, to songs you thought you'd eat up but find it's being neglected on your playlist. I've done a first impression post, but I thought it would be fun to do for newer releases that come out! Let us know what song has your opinion changed on since first listen for last month!. It can be title tracks, b-sides, anything as long as it came out in February this year (or even some January ones, if you like! It was a slower month but still can be included)
*For me, this month is cignature's "Nun Nu Nan Na" and 3YE's "Queen"! cignature's song I felt underwhelmed but I saw it had potential with the catchy chorus, and it was the performances (and Jeewon's smile :D) had me won over in no time. As for 3YE, after the MV I was really not feeling it but once I pulled it up on streaming it suddenly clicked for me how fun it was. The MV isn't even bad, for some reason it just stood out to me more on Spotify. But I'm now hooked!

nun nu nan na took a few listens to "click" with me but then i became OBSESSED with it and since then it's slightly declined but still rly good
jackpot is growing on me way more than i thought it would
dun dun utterly BORED me at first listen but it's slowly, steadily getting better
crossroads also growing on me
waiting for hands up, dazzle dazzle, scream and fiesta to click with me. i hope they will!

Date: 2020-03-02 11:35 am (UTC)I don't think I've changed my mind on songs, I've just fallen more in love with the songs I liked. Dazzle Dazzle has become my standout for the month, and Dun Dun has been on constant replay (and brought Player with it and Adios back into my currently played). I love how Weki Meki have moved into this confident, sassy girl mode, and I hope Everglow continue to beat Blackpink at their own concept.
I'm glad people seem to have changed their mind on Queen. It's a great song, and there's nothing wrong with referencing older kpop trends alongside current ones. Yuji is a revelation and they've finally stopped giving her lazy braid hairstyles. The bob looks so good. I love the yakuza vibes.
If anything I was surprised at what I didn't get into; I sort of expected to get over the concept whiplash and like 'Hands Up' but I just didn't. It never clicked. I didn't necessarily struggle with how chill it was like other people did, I just don't believe them when they're doing that concept. Similarly, Loona's 'So What' should have been the concept that finally made me fall for them but it just felt juvenile, and about half the group were 100% not selling it to me. Chuu, Gowon, Hyunjin, Vivi (a few other names? Yeojin?) all struggled, Kim Lip should have suited it but just came across going through the motions, Olivia Hye was sort of into it, and if anything I felt the 'outdated' criticisms levelled at Queen should have been levelled at So What. The 'I'm So Bad' bit was nice and catchy but the raps were really mediocre. Watching them perform it live highlights how few of them suit this concept.
I did think Scream was a bit generic (coming from that kpop fan demographic that were super into Evanescence et al, I've heard a hundred songs like this) but it certainly hasn't put me off the group, I'll be waiting for their next comeback! I was glad to see Gahyeon get more shine.

Date: 2020-03-02 04:05 pm (UTC)I think this is everyone else ignoring it but Pentagon's Dr. Bebe is a solid pop song and they're really killing it with stages this comeback. If it wasn't such a shift in concept for the group I think more people would see it for what it is. who else is doing lifts rn? who else is serving you shirtless sleeves?! i rest my case.
And the opposite direction - Monsta X's english album has had 0 replay value for me.

Dun Dun has an opposite effect, I jammed to it a lot at the beginning but it kinda fizzled out? maybe I overplayed, idk.
