New boy band CNBLUE is in the middle of yet another controversy as their manager is being accused of physically assaulting fans who were gathered around the group’s vehicle.

It all began when a video surfaced on the Korean web a few days ago. The video contained footage of a man, apparently CNBLUE’s manager, wielding his hand into a throng of fans and clearly slapping a girl’s head twice as the group members exited from a parked van. Jong Hyun, who was the first to exit the van, made an awkward smile as he looked into the crowd.

As this footage became popular among Korean netizens, CNBLUE’s management company FCN Music quickly responded with a statement.

They explained, “The event happened on the 11th. CNBLUE tried to enter KBS building for a rehearsal but too many fans were in the way. Even with the help of security guards we could not secure the way into the building so the group [CNBLUE] decided to help out. As that was happening, a fan almost tripped Jong Hyun by grabbing on and pulling his hoodie, to which the manager reacted violently.

They apologized by saying, “Our entire staff apologizes to fans about what had taken place; the manager has been given appropriate punishment and nothing like this will ever happen again.”

As with Jong Hyun smiling, they explained, “Jong Hyun was smiling about the situation where he almost fell down, not at the fans getting beaten. He did not see the beating take place.

Dear C.N Blue...where I come from, you're due for an appropriately-spelled shower with lime. It washes away bad luck T__T That or pomelo leaves.

Sigh, JFC, can't these guys get a break? T_T

Ohnoes :( While I think it's scary what the fan had done, the manager himself shouldn't have acted that way either. At least they apologized and punished him lol.

I understand that his job is to take care of the members, but in this situation, wouldn't just grabbing her wrist and pulling her hand off the member's hoodie have been a less violent and still effective solution? There's no reason to smack her head like that.

Whenever I think of managers 'assaulting' fans I will always think of this:

Their explanation is really upsetting. They are making excuses for this guy instead of firing him and admitting he was completely wrong. They were not overly aggressive to the point where that kind of violence needed to happen.

Security gaurds couldn't control the crowd? THey seem pretty calm to me. SO calm that it pisses me off. They just watched that girl get hit with no reaction.

Who does this manager think he is? It's not like he's protecting the damn president.
Those are fans, not trained assassins.

Both the fans and the manager need to take a chill pill. Violence is not the answer.

Who knows if a fan really tried tripping him? That could just be a coverup to reason his violent reaction too. I mean, I'm sure it's really frustrating to be crowded by a bunch of screaming girls when you're just trying to get out of a car...not that I'm saying to lash out like that is an ok thing to do...but I can deff seeing being at least tempted to be like "BACK THE F*** UP." Obviously you can't be rude to your own fans though.

He over reacted but korean fans are known to be scary. I personally don't understand why they behave so violently to idols there supposedly fans of. But the manger should be punished, it's his job to control situations like this not to make them worse.

I am betting that "the manager has been given appropriate punishment" = fired.

That always happens, no?

Hopefully he HAS been fired. He deserves nothing less.
