It's interesting. I wonder who they'll get specially for the "Kingdom" version. Like, would established groups be allowed by their agencies to join this? Would they even have the time? Do you think this is a better setup to separate the well-known groups?

Are the two shows going to air at the same time or will the "winner" of Road to Kingdom go on Kingdom?
I think it's more fair to set it up this way, the less known group will have their own space to show what they can do. I hope it means even less drama but that's MNET so they'll try to make something up

I was looking forward to 2nd season of Queendom too but I'll take this Kingdom thing coz I feel that it will help lesser known groups get their name out there.

It makes sense if the prize for Road to Kingdom is getting on Kingdom but it also means the winner has to compete twice. Then again it sounds like the sort of cruel thing one might expect from Mnet. Or maybe RtK will be a shorter pre-show before the main Kingdom?

I don't follow Got7 but I've always thought that they are popular and have good reputation in Korea. I just assumed coz they are from JYP and all groups here are popular with the public being one of the big 3 agencies. Are they not that good over there? Jinyoung seems like a darling that majority loves.

The potential for fandom mess with Kingdom scares me.

Road to Kingdom sounds nice for the less-known boy groups, though. As long as it doesn't compromise Queendom Season 2, I'm not fussed.

Depending on the line up I might check out performances or cuts of groups I'm interested in. My wild guesses based on agencies' relationships with Mnet and who sent groups to Queendom:

Kingdom: SF9, Astro, Ateez
Might need a few more well-established groups but I'm not sure they want to or are not busy enough already. Maybe NUEST/Seventeen/Monsta X? Also a surprise veteran a la Park Bom in Queendom.
I'm kind of blanking on who has had a music show win yet and who hasn't, but these could go to either Kingdom or Road to Kingdom: Pentagon, The Boyz, Golden Child, TXT, Victon, ONF, Verivery. Maybe a few post-WannaOne/Produce rookie groups like AB6IX, CIX.
SM groups are out since SM has this beef with Mnet and hasn't even had their groups on MCountdown for the last year or two.
JYP might have Stray Kids there but it'll be interesting if they go with Got7, though both groups seem busy overseas.
Maybe YG would send Treasure?

Tbh I got bored of Queendom really quickly, I found it disappointing in multiple ways. So if it was another gg season I’d still rethink about watching

i saw a lot of people asking for this but it pisses me off tbh. i thought the point of queendom was to highlight female artists and that's precisely why a male version wasn't needed. not that i expect feminism from mnet. it just seems so pointless and stupid. male artists are always prioritized and always get the spotlight, they don't need this.

I cannot think of many active boygroups that have not gotten at least a win. But Pentagon, A.C.E and KNK seem like the obvious choices for me.

As for Kingdom, the biggest group I can see joining is Seventeen, maybe GOT7? It'd be great for N.Flying to join, Hweseung's performances on Inmortal Songs have been great. As for the solo singer (ala Bom) my first thought (more like desire) is Jaejoong or Junsu, but that's almost impossible lmao

When is this scheduled to air? Maybe BToB is already back (at least as 6) and participate??? I'd love that.

Ugh, why do they have to take this show about highlighting female acts and fill it with a bunch of dudes?

That being said, I can see their thought process. They don't have Produce to continuously flip flop between male and female seasons to bring in ratings. I'd be fine if it were just a Queendom/Kingdom split like they did with produce, but I don't know if the road to Kingdom is going to have the effect they want.

Although, I could see them setting the old produce groups against each other to bring in some ratings. If they had ab6ix, cix, and Daniel or whatever, that might actually help everyone involved.

Yup. MNET needs another reality/variety show to milk and Queendom was successful so they follow-up with sure shot ratings winner. Putting ex-PD101 members in their own gruops is something that is highly likely to happen.

i think mamamoo didn't even get their comeback show that they were supposed to get as a prize fo queendom anyway. I just marked the Mnet is evil answer because they can't be trusted especially with the Produce rigging fiasco and the disgusting things the Produce producer said about female trainees. Mnet had their chance for good publicity with Queendom but they're gonna blow it even more with this Kingdom ridiculousness

You are right, MMM didn't get that comeback show. And MNET gave (G)I-DLE a special stage after the show to perform "Lion". I was expecting for them to do it for MMM or maybe all the other groups too.
