Sometimes execs and labels just fuck it up and pick the wrong song to promote a debut/comeback.
And it's up to us to find those hidden gems, that might otherwise be burried under countless songs.
Every month I'll try to look back on girl group and female soloist release (I don't have time to waste on boys) and try to find out the song that should have been "IT" but was overlooked.

What's my expertise on this?
None whatsoever.

Taeyeon - "Here I am" (Purpose - the 2nd album repackage)

I don't need to explain myself.
"Here I am" has that Disney heroine theme song vibe that no one can resist. "Into the unknown" who?
But honestly the whole album is amazing. "LOL" deserves an honorable mention for being sexy as hell.


Younha - "26" (Unstable Mindset)

Objectively "Winter Flower" is the most bankable song because "BTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", but 26 is fresh and fun.
It has that uplifting vibe that'll get you out of bed even during the gloomiest winter days.



Dream Note - "Bittersweet" (Dream Wish)

"Wish" is a goddam mess of a (admittedly fun) song, but thankfully "Bittersweet" makes up for it with a more cohesive sound.

Here I Am is such an amazing song. Taeyeon's album had amazing bsides overall. I loved Spark so I'm fine with it ending up as a single, but Here I Am should have been at least a pre-release single. I can't just stay in the album
I agree that Bittersweet is better than Wish
I still need to listen to Younha's release oops TT

Looking forward to February, on first listen I absolutely adore Labyrinth and Here We Are from GFriend's latest mini album. Crossroads is already growing on me but it might be a little too safe? idk. GFriend are regular offenders if I might say lol. Wonder if I'll still think the same at the end of the month

i think that find me could also have been potential title track for purpose. better babe is my favourite song on the album but i don't think it's suited to be a title track.

Love this concept. Especially having it female-centric. I also agree about not having time to waste with boys. Can't wait to see your other ideas.

I think the ultimate example of this is KARA's Wanna title fail compared to the masterpiece that was Mister.
