First month of 2020 in the books! This month seemed LONG, but the weeks flew by fast for me. I’m so behind on these posts, I need to start the next batch of them soon. Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week let’s see who was on top for the 5th week of January, 2011.
#3 Joo “Bad Guy”
This was her comeback song, almost 3 years to the day after her debut. I really liked this era, I always thought the song and the accompanying music video were perfect together. I love it when that happens. I don’t think she’s active anymore? The last thing I remember from her was she took wedding photos with her brother. Like, you know those formal studio wedding/engagement pics? She took them with Ilhoon lol. Hopefully the groom got a few photos too.
#2 TVXQ “Keep Your Head Down”
This was the lead single off of their album of the same name, and their first release as a duo. I guess some people saw this as a diss to JYJ? With the lyrics and some of the choreography? I don’t remember, but then again I wasn’t really paying attention back then lol. I only really remember the song, mostly the live stages and choreography from this era. Third time posting, so let’s see a semi recent stage. Here’s the song at their Circle Tour from 2018.
#1 Secret “Shy Boy”
I think I’m in the minority, but I just can’t get into this song. This and “Starlight Moonlight”…I could never get into this era at all. Basically all of 2011 for them wtf. But the song is still super catchy though, and so is the choreo.
Honorable Mentions
#4 MBLAQ “Stay”
I vaguely remember this song. Just a little of the chorus, I think. This was one of the singles off of their first full album, “BLAQ Style”. I don’t remember the other single from the album, “Cry”, either. This is an MBLAQ black hole for me lol.
#6 Dal Shabet “Super Duper Diva”
I haven’t thought of this song in years (probably since I last posted it here lol), but it’s always an easy song to remember. Because that chorus is so damn catchy! This was the group’s debut song, and it was a pretty strong debut. It did well with the public, and they promoted the song for months. Here’s their debut stage at Music Core.

Dal Shabet's debut era is bittersweet because they never truly expanded on their original charm point of all the girls being rappers. Even so, great times and this still holds up:

KYHD still slaps to this day! That comeback was fierce! Really put Yunho and Changmin back on the map! Plus, brought even more drama because Cassies were still taking sides and throwing shade. Can't believe it's been 9 years ya'll! :O

Date: 2020-02-01 05:51 pm (UTC)Stay wasn’t my favorite MBlaq song but how dare you forget Cry! Whenever I watch their performances I’m reminded of what an amazing Idol Joon was. A true all around talent with amazing stage presence. Who is this generation’s Joon? Sungjae or Kyungsoo?
