JYP Entertainment has issued a statement regarding an incident with TWICE member Nayeon after she was approached by a stalker in Japan. In the statement, the company reveals that Nayeon is currently under police protection after the stalker attempted to approach her while she was boarding a plane in Japan. Although she wasn’t physically harmed, understandably Nayeon was quite frightened by the incident.

JYP stressed that they would be pursuing charges to the fullest extent of the law for the incident, both against the stalker and against those responsible for obtaining and selling TWICE’s flight information.

The full statement reads as follows:

Hello this is JYP Entertainment.

Today [January 1] when boarding a return flight from Japan to Korea, a stalker of TWICE member Nayeon attempted to approach her numerous times after boarding. We were able to respond to the situation right away, and [Nayeon] wasn’t harmed, but she is currently quite discomfited and anxious.

Due to the incident, Nayeon is currently under police protection. We warned the stalker several times to halt his actions, but he ignored our warnings and attempted to force his way through and raised his voice, escalating the situation with problematic behavior.

As a result, we will be taking the highest level of legal action available to us against [the stalker].

Furthermore, we are also investigating the illegal dissemination of our artists’ flight schedules and information. Especially after this recent disturbance, we are searching for a way to put an end to such activity as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologize to the other passengers on this flight for the disturbance caused by this incident. We will ensure that such an issue doesn’t happen again.

Thank you.

Insane, I can't believe they seemingly had little security around the airport so it's not surprising that he managed to make it on the same flight and harass her there?

Seriously, after that staff member flashing Daehyun's passport it's quite apparent that airport staff must be selling their info. Though I suppose this is how sasaengs have always gotten their info. It's so gross. They're putting idol's safety at risk for some money and they don't think twice just because they're idols.

Also this was posted and quickly deleted. I feel so bad for all the girls especially Nayeon.

I saw screenshots of the guy's tweets/Insta posts and he's so delusional. He needs to be stopped.

Yeah... the dude honestly believes the bullshit he’s spouting out. He’s delusional on a level that is truly frightening. It’s like he feels he’s the only person entitled to her, for lack of a better term... & if he’s gone this far already.... it’s really worrisome to think of how much farther he’s willing to go. :\

Yeah, he doesn't seem like someone who will have a sudden change of heart. Police will have to stop him, he won't stop on his own.

It seems like he has an identical twin, so it's not just one disturbing person to worry about, but two.
idk what to say at this point. I just hope jype can get her a restraining order in every country possible, and this guy is blacklisted from every Asian country.

Not only does he have a twin but fans doxxed him yesterday and found out he comes from a wealthy family. Which is even more terrifying because it means he has the money and free time to continue to do this for as long as he wants.

And tbh I don’t think it’s jype dragging their feet on this, but rather the police. I hope the fact that he did this on an international flight means that they finally have enough against him to really keep him away from her.

Of-fucking-course!! Now the behavior of that lady in the airport flashing their info makes since. She was ready to risk it all for whatever he, or any creepy saesang, was willing to pay. and it must've been a lot. It's fucking disgusting

The police are a joke. Even the security at the airport was hired guards by JYPE, when Nayeon is supposed to be "under the police's protection". Tho to be fair, the whole law against stalking is a joke, so what can ya say...everything's fucked.

Is the police going to wait until something actually bad happens with this guy to actually do something to protect Nayeon?!

That IG story was so scary. They have to beg for their safety, this is awful.

It's terrifying that he managed to get in the same plane as them... Glad the managers took immediate action.
Also the fact that so many people, including his brother, are enabling him... His tweets after this incident are so delusional and I'm worried the situation will escalate, especially against the staff since he's painting them as the villains keeping Nayeon away from him
I'm also scared and angry because the fact that he's foreign + seeks attention by all means make it suddenly real and terrifying but, thinking about his actions (buying flight info, turning up in places Nayeon could be etc) are "typical" sasaeng behaviours. How many stalkers for how many idol groups have we not heard from because they were dismissed as crazy obsessive fans?
