JYP Entertainment has issued a statement regarding an incident with TWICE member Nayeon after she was approached by a stalker in Japan. In the statement, the company reveals that Nayeon is currently under police protection after the stalker attempted to approach her while she was boarding a plane in Japan. Although she wasn’t physically harmed, understandably Nayeon was quite frightened by the incident.
JYP stressed that they would be pursuing charges to the fullest extent of the law for the incident, both against the stalker and against those responsible for obtaining and selling TWICE’s flight information.
The full statement reads as follows:
Hello this is JYP Entertainment.
Today [January 1] when boarding a return flight from Japan to Korea, a stalker of TWICE member Nayeon attempted to approach her numerous times after boarding. We were able to respond to the situation right away, and [Nayeon] wasn’t harmed, but she is currently quite discomfited and anxious.
Due to the incident, Nayeon is currently under police protection. We warned the stalker several times to halt his actions, but he ignored our warnings and attempted to force his way through and raised his voice, escalating the situation with problematic behavior.
As a result, we will be taking the highest level of legal action available to us against [the stalker].
Furthermore, we are also investigating the illegal dissemination of our artists’ flight schedules and information. Especially after this recent disturbance, we are searching for a way to put an end to such activity as soon as possible.
We sincerely apologize to the other passengers on this flight for the disturbance caused by this incident. We will ensure that such an issue doesn’t happen again.
Thank you.

Date: 2020-01-01 07:42 pm (UTC)Seriously, after that staff member flashing Daehyun's passport it's quite apparent that airport staff must be selling their info. Though I suppose this is how sasaengs have always gotten their info. It's so gross. They're putting idol's safety at risk for some money and they don't think twice just because they're idols.
Also this was posted and quickly deleted. I feel so bad for all the girls especially Nayeon.

Date: 2020-01-01 10:09 pm (UTC)idk what to say at this point. I just hope jype can get her a restraining order in every country possible, and this guy is blacklisted from every Asian country.

Date: 2020-01-01 10:21 pm (UTC)And tbh I don’t think it’s jype dragging their feet on this, but rather the police. I hope the fact that he did this on an international flight means that they finally have enough against him to really keep him away from her.

Date: 2020-01-01 11:43 pm (UTC)The police are a joke. Even the security at the airport was hired guards by JYPE, when Nayeon is supposed to be "under the police's protection". Tho to be fair, the whole law against stalking is a joke, so what can ya say...everything's fucked.

Date: 2020-01-02 12:26 pm (UTC)Also the fact that so many people, including his brother, are enabling him... His tweets after this incident are so delusional and I'm worried the situation will escalate, especially against the staff since he's painting them as the villains keeping Nayeon away from him
I'm also scared and angry because the fact that he's foreign + seeks attention by all means make it suddenly real and terrifying but, thinking about his actions (buying flight info, turning up in places Nayeon could be etc) are "typical" sasaeng behaviours. How many stalkers for how many idol groups have we not heard from because they were dismissed as crazy obsessive fans?
