F*cking Finally: CL Confirmed To Leave YG Entertainment

CL has parted ways with YG Entertainment.

The agency released the following statement on November 8:

Hello. This is YG Entertainment.

Respecting each other’s opinions, we came to an agreement with CL to end her exclusive contract.

We express deep gratitude to the fans who have shown for CL, who shined with her activities as an artist of YG.

At YG, CL debuted with 2NE1 in 2009, and while promoting as a leader and rapper, she led trends in various areas including music and fashion. She also left a major mark in the history of K-pop when she became the first Korean solo female artist to chart in the Billboard Hot 100 on October 12, 2016.

We ask for lots of interest and support for CL’s new activities, and YG will also cheer her on with unchanging trust and affection. Thank you.

Dara is doing fine with her youtube channel and appearances abroad, especially the Philippines. She has always been more of an overall entertainer with strong variety skills rather than singer-artist the way CL is. Dara is good at hustling for her own pocket money on the side without YG's help so it doesn't really matter to her if she stays with them or not. CL on the other hand, the hiatus has really affected her career and what she wants to do so leaving is the best choice

yeah i don't know either but still it's messed up. YG used to have so many good female artists like gummy and lexy but now the company is either keeping them in the basement or the artists are leaving. i guess YG is satisfied with just having blackpink modelling and doing CFs for the rest of their career while the old boys' club actually makes music

i want her to move back to korea and kill it. i like very few of her english releases but i think she could come back and slay in korea. kind of comparing apples to oranges but i'd love to see her kill at being solo like lee hyori did. we don't really have that kind of solo singer in kpop right now.
