Blackpink is expected to make a comeback in the 4th quarter of 2019 + Treasure 13 will most likely debut in the 1st quarter of 2020 + members of BIGBANG are expected to renew their contracts

On the 23rd, Hana Financial Investment reported that YG Entertainment (₩26,400 +6.02%) has maintained a “Buy” rating as the company’s future uncertainties seem to be resolving.

Lee Ki Hoon, a Hana Financial Investment researcher, said, “The repayment of redeemable convertible preferred shares (RCPS) to LVMH through investment company “Great World Music Investment, the completion of police investigations, and G-Dragon’s military discharge are all expected to be completed within one month. This potentially means that YG Entertainment will have a promising 2020, especially with high possibilities of BIGBANG and Treasure 13 promotions.”

He said that YG Entertainment’s estimated 3rd quarter sales and operating profit are at ₩63.9 billion and ₩-1.3 billion won, respectively. He further added that YGE will recover in the 4th quarter with AKMU’s recent release and Winner and Blackpink’s upcoming comebacks. Lee Ki Hoon noted, “YG Entertainment’s two key events is BIGBANG contract renewal and Treasure 13’s debut. Although it has not been officially decided yet, the possibility of BIGBANG contract renewal is high and Treasure 13 will most likely debut in the 1st quarter of 2020 at the latest.”

Also, Taeyang and GD are discharged from military this week and over 3,000 fans from Korea, Japan and China are already expected to attend their discharge ceremony. YG has asked fans not to visit the ceremonies (because of the strengthened quarantines due to swine fever in the area).

Love that there were no real repurcussions after all that happened....

Did we expect any different?

Exactly. And people were expecting yg artists and trainees to leave. The brand is too strong and people want stardom

tbf some did leave, just none of the really big artists and its likely some of them aren't able to buy themselves out of their contracts just yet/YGE is holding their pay outs while dealing with the police issues

i guess that makes sense for someone like BP or Akmu but Big Bang and the people that haven't debuted yet could easily leave but most of them stayed. people will do anything to be a part of YG

i mean are we going to get press releases for all the trainees who leave? the new BG members who haven't debuted are still signed to artist contract and have to buy themselves out too. only a couple did prob cuz their families could afford it.

I'm not saying most want to leave, that's likely not the case when you're desperate for fame, just that those who may want to might not have the financial means to disentangle themselves from the contracts they did sign. "could easily leave" isn't something entertainment companies are keen to bake into their contracts.

All that news about YG being brought in for police questioning and being audited for taxes, but he and Seungri are still free and YG is still running despite only making a $4000 in the last quarter. Disgraceful.

This is the part that I don't get the most. How come Seungri is still free?

From what I've seen of the Blackpink fandom, there's gonna be a riot if Rose doesn't get her solo with this comeback or right before/after this comeback. Blackpink has so many solo stans who seem to dislike any member that isn't their bias, it's sort of scary. At this point, it's hopeless to ask for someone other than Teddy producing their title track so I hope it's more Playing With Fire (with an actual chorus!) and less DDDD/KTL.

Regardless, until they get rid of the leadership there in YG, I'm not gonna be streaming/watching anything. None of my coins are gonna go to YG.

There's only 2 months left before the year ends. BP's comeback will most likely be another international hit, they'd be dumb to not send the girls promoting abroad again. So I guess IF Rose gets her solo before that, it'll only be a digital single with a quick 1 week inkigayo stint.

Hmmmm I don't remember how long Jennie promoted but if she doesn't get the same promotional push as Jennie, it's just gonna fuel the "Jennie is favored" hatefest in the fandom more.

Yeah, it was a Korean fanmeet which was concerning because you can get non-fans and casual fans to go to a concert especially if the ticket prices are low but fanmeets/special fan concerts measure the hardcore base who are willing to do the heavy lifting. Their digital sales are always good in Korea tho so the general public is checking for their music at least, but that's the case for most YG groups. Their album sales are decent so their fandom power isn't terrible but I think it's more that their fanbase is more overseas than domestic; they have a lot of fans in SEA especially. I think companies would be concerned about that because there's the perception (not saying it's true, but it's widely believed) that maintaining a good Korean fanbase is crucial for long-term survival (not necessarily success, but at least survival) since int'l fame/popularity is very fickle.

So, BigBang has not yet started renewal discussions, but it highly likely they'll renew?

In reading this I got all the Rage, because f- no consequences, but how much is based on fact? This is as reported by a financial investment researcher, which means a lot comes from YGE ... The researcher could even be in bed with YGE, because who else isn't?

I guess I just hope that reality is nowhere near as optimistic as this all makes it sound. And that at least one of the 4 remaining BB members walk, if not all of them.

idt it's likely they'll all renew. From what I read previously TOPs said he plans on retiring from the ent industry. if the others were smart they'd take their money and run with no looking back. they've all made enough.

YGE is going to keep running as long as they have debts to pay/need to look like they're not as shady as they are

It seems like TOP has been posting song teasers on his insta lately, which smells like a potential comeback. Not sure if he's ready to leave the industry behind just yet, even if he goes somewhere else. It wouldn't really surprise me either way
