once you get over how corny the word jopping is it's not nearly as cringey as I was expecting. the mini is better than this song lets you think it'll be. 2Fast especially.

i have no clue what jopping means and i'm just not gonna check in the dictionary lol. the advantages of not being a native speaker!

anyway, the title track will have to grow on me and the mv is kinda... i don't like the military elements (tho i was expecting worse after the teaser) and i feel like sm put so many visuals and so much talent in this group but none of the guys really got to shine? it's a waste imo.

It’s cheesy af and maybe the 12 year olds will eat it up but I cringed the whole time. Didn’t feel the beat and definitely did not care for the lyrics. The dance was meh ok and the boys were pretty so there’s that. I’m not a big fan of nct so I can’t say anything for them but exo and shinee have had some great hits and styles that would definitely kill in the us. Idk why SM felt Jopping would be the song to sell us. This feels like The Boys for SNSD, as in a horrible English choice.
Can’t wait to listen to the mini tomorrow. I was 17 when I got into kpop and if I heard this I would definitely have given it a hard pass and I lived through zea and mblaq 😂

Underwhelmed. Ten was robbed of lines, baekhyun easily steals the show even with his painful dancing in the center. Kai looks good as always and for once I like Mark’s raps (he’s not a good rapper just bc everyone at SM is worse lmao). I expected worse based on the leak, but this was still a waste of everyone’s talent. Way too much CGI, it’s hard to see anyone who doesn’t have colored hair.

This is going absolutely nowhere in the US! I don’t understand what they were thinking.

the song is way better than the leaked version led everyone to believe thank god but it's still chaotic. it's definitely gonna grow on me. forever loving kendrick leemark's verses

i'm really excited to see the choreo and the performances for this because i know the boys are gonna kill it. i love seeing all of them together on stage or more casually in vlives because it seems like they're all very fond of each other. i'm loving all the cute sunbae-hoobae moments and taekai being so excited to work together after so many years 🥺

also controversial opinion: all the exols crying about how this should've been exo just make me laugh because...exo as a whole does not have the range required to 1) do this choreo 2) exude the energy/stage presence needed for this concept. like, imagine chanyeol and junmyeon trying to pull this off lmaooo god

I just love futuristic/sci-fi cgi, so it's an automatic loooove from me. the song is an actual bop and mark's rap really saved kpop.
The only meh thing is the lack of ten (both in lines and screen time) and lucas tbh

I actually like the track in English more.
It sounds more "natural" or at least fitting.
The usage of Jopping isn't as awkward or jarring.
In Korean it stands out so much more, in not a good way.

The mini-album is fantastic of course, which is kind of to be expected.
B-sides always save the day.

There are parts I don't like and parts I do (mostly Kai, Baekhyun, Taemin's parts and Mark's 3 stacks). The MV jumps around a whole lot, is this jopping edit style?

I Can't Stand The Rain is my fav and I definitely think another song could have been the title track.
I dislike this group being a thing but I'mma support my boy because that's the vicious cycle I'm apart of.

ETA: Taeyong's voice is really annoying me. Does he always sound like that?

It's decent — I like the chorus melody a lot. I definitely agree with musuu in regards that it's "Maxstep" 2019. I vastly prefer "2 Fast", "Super Car" and "No Manners" over this as well. "I Don't Like the Rain" is just okay, I don't care for Baekhyun and Taemin's higher pitch in the chorus. Overall, I don't foresee this doing anything for them long term (or even short term for that matter), but I wish them the best.

Overall I'm very confused. I like the instrumentals, the vocals aren't bad (if you ignore the lyrics) and the MV looks nice. And yet, it's precisely the lyrics that really make me go "meh...." with this.
They'll probably flop hard, but I hope it won't have any lasting effects on the guys. It's not their fault that SM values money over everything else...

I don't hate it, I just find it a bit too aggressive and in your face. Taemin steals the show for me, without even trying, but I would be so happy if we got a TaeKai sub unit instead of this group. I believe the talent would be better used...

Anyways, will this succeed? Who knows? Remember when that Brazilian song "Ai se eu te pego" went viral that even Kyuhyun sang? Anything can happen. ANYTHING.

It definitely has Yoo Young Jin's touch, that bombastic SMP sound that he's made for a lot of SM boy groups, e.g. SJ's Superman, TVXQ's Keep Your Head Down, EXO's Mama. It's the kind of song to build hype at a concert and I don't mind it. The verses have a cool beat, I like Mark's English rap especially and the choreo in that part looks like it'll be a highlight too. Wish Ten had sung more instead of rapped.

This group has too many dancers. Without Taemin and Baekhyun hard-carrying the vocals this song would have been bland as shit. The visuals, despite the money put into it, are uninspired, and the lighting is too dark for the viewer to appreciate what's going on. Also, is Jopping even a real word people use? (I'm old, inform me.) And I shouldn't have to say this, but combining the top/most favourite members from each of your groups into one "super group" does not a good boyband make. The conception and execution of everything about this is so uninformed from start to finish.

Mess. Already said it in the post when the song leaked, but this sounds like something exo would have released in 2012. Outdated and definitely not suited for the western market.

the MV/song legit made me laugh. Jopping is such a funny ass term. Tho "cuz when we jumping and we popping, we jopping" gets stuck in your head.

album is fine. I doubt this project group will be successful in the US...but whatever, I'll just enjoy the promos anyway.

I mean, it's not hate fuel, but it's definitely underwhelming, especially for such a good line up. MV is pretty meh as well, despite the budget that went into it. Find myself liking Can't Stand The Rain the most, and I'll pretend the rest of the album does not exist.

Leave it to SM to fail so spectacularly at preparing for a project like this. I hope the dance is great at least.

Someone on Twitter described the song as dumb jock kpop and it's the most accurate description of the song I've seen. It will be epic live but I don't see myself listening to it on its own. Oh and the styling was horrible.

Rant about my fave: I really don't understand what SM's problem w/ Ten is. Like, I was hoping he'd be able to show his talents and he gets less than a minute rapping/singing in the whole album. He's the obvious choice for their next generation's pop star able to promote in 4 languages but they kept him in the limbo the first 3 years of his career and then shipped him off to China to be a full time model/part time idol. He finally gets to perform semi regularly and he's gone from being the Main dancer/lead vocalist in WayV to a sub rapper. I just want to know why?
