The police have carried out search and seizures of entertainment agencies in their investigation of vote manipulation during Mnet’s “Produce X 101.”

On October 1, the Cyber Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency conducted searches of agencies including Starship Entertainment, MBK Entertainment, and Woollim Entertainment to search for materials related to vote manipulation in the “Produce X 101” series. This investigation of agencies comes after searches at Mnet headquarters and the text vote data company.

Starship Entertainment released a statement regarding the investigation. The agency told media outlet Newsen, “We are aware that the police are collectively investigating CJ ENM and related companies for suspicions of vote manipulation during the ‘Produce’ program. We will diligently meet the police’s requests for cooperation.”

A source from the police also provided an update, saying, “We have questioned the production team of the show and are currently analyzing the original data. Afterwards, we will conduct additional questioning of related parties.”

“Produce X 101” is currently under investigation for suspicions of vote manipulation after votes for the finale were called into question for being statistically impossible. Since the allegations came to light, suspicions have been brought up for the previous seasons of “Produce 101” and the 2018 survival show “Idol School.”

okay but like it's not like it'll change the current line up, will it? It's too late for that. If the identities of the members are revealed it will just humiliate them for the rest of the 5 years that they have in this contract.

I’m not surprised. And I feel like I know who benefited from the vote rigging. At the end of the day, it’s not their fault. The blame is with MNet, and the two (or three) companies that were involved. And what’s sad is that, whether they choose to reveal the names or not, no “solution” will make anyone happy:

People will be pissed if you continue to promote X1 like nothing happened. X1’s members will have to live with the knowledge that they might be the one who didn’t make it in fairly. And Mingyu, Jinhyuk, Jungmo, Yunseong and Yuvin will wonder if they should have been in.

People will be pissed (myself included) if they pull out the 2 (or 3) members who got in based on rigged votes since this wasn’t their fault.

Things will get awkward if they decide to add the 2 (or 3) members who should have been in originally. And their company won’t want them involved anyway.

And people will be furious if X1 disbands due to this.

Nobody wins. I feel bad for all the boys involved in this bs. It could have been easily avoided if MNet debuted the group based on the real votes.

It’s...odd that they’re calling this an investigation into vote manipulation when that’s literally standard practice with all talent competition (and award) shows, the producers always have a sway in what the narrative is. Feels like maybe there’s more at play here and they just aren’t saying? Bribery? Something to qualify as gambling?

the police involved is what rly makes me go ??? when Stuff like this usually stays at the telecommunication commission/better business bureau level.

Even Mnet from now on doesn't actually manipulate the vote numbers, they can still just push the companies that have business ties with CJ/Mnet with evil editing/screentime manipulating so I don't think this is gonna really solve anything lol. If anything, if they can't rig the actual votes anymore, they'll probably go even more HAM on the selective editing.

IDC about PDX101 but people are examining past seasons now and IDK why ppl keep trying to tie Wonyoung winning PD48 to this. Her rise among the contestants was actually one of the more realistic/organic ones. Among the top 3 that season, only one has a really fishy ranking even though I really like her.

wow now if police acted just as fast during molka & burning sun 'scandals'.....
i feel like mnet never even needed to directly rig votes so it's almost amusing that they left enough of a paper trail (to prove obvious part of every reality show - it's scripted, fixed and rigged). they carefully manipulate viewers by editing each episode in a way that favors certain trainees, gives them more screentime or does the opposite. this whole issue is an absolute circus but i guess police needs to pretend like they do their job or something.

If it's proven legally that it's rigged, i dont think they will change the lineup, but these companies & Mnet might have to pay compensation money to idk who.
Idk if I have to say "poor MBK" or "wow apparently MBK had money to bribe"..?

anyway save hangyul
