The new group CN Blue is swept in the tides again with the fact that they have also copied the album title from Ynot after the song as well. Currently, CN Blue is in fight against the copyright issues with the song ‘Blue bird’ from the group Ynot. The rhythm pattern and the melody of the chorus matching in the two songs was the cause of it.

According to Ynot, they stated that FNC Music, the management company for CN Blue, asked the composers Kim DoHoon and Lee SangHo to apologize about the matter, but it the issue seemed to be calming down solely because there hasn’t been any more actions from CN Blue.

However, the netizens are raising the matter once again by claiming that CN Blue’s album title ‘Bluetory’ actually means ‘Blue bird’. According to these netizens, ‘Bluetory’ is a mix up with the word “blue” and “tory” which means “bird” in Japanese.

CN Blue’s management, FNC Music replied that the album title ‘Bluetory’ was purely made up by the president of the company and that it represents CN Blue with the “blue” and the pure Korean word “tory.” They also added that “tory” stands for the “music specialty that each area has” and ‘Bluetory’ in general means that “CN Blue will be showing their own color in the music industry.

Haha yeah! I am sick & tired of these korean netizens' nonsense.

And here I thought it was just a clever combination of blue and story. :/

lol that's what i thought, too. but i saw an interview yesterday, before the showcase, and yonghwa explained that tory was a korean word.

ngl, that sort of makes it a little dumber to me? D: cause Bluetory as a story just, idk, makes more sense and is actually pretty rad.

lol i'm not sure c.n. blue are a band with an image or style that i'd refer to as 'rad,' though.

something kind of sentimental like the korean word for tory, meaning a region's area of specialization, seems pretty appropriate to me.

1. If I remember correctly, it would be spelled 'torii' if that were the case.

2. The band is in Korea, not Japan. So where the heck is the basis to this?

Really, netizens. Get a life.

i'm bothered by everything in this situation actually. netizens because wtf that title shit is weak why not focus the fight back to the blatant plagiarism itself, FNC Music because OH OK just have the composers apologize not that you wrote that statement that was basically a spit in the face to ynot, and the retarded comments these posts keep on getting by CN blue fans who are like "oh netizens are just ko-razy and idgi i don't hear any plagiarism blind denial wompwompwompOPPA DIDN'T MEAN IT!!!etc etc"

anyways i am most of all disappointed if this is all this is going to culminate to. i get that plagiarism cases about western/american music is taken more seriously-- that people get really embarrassed about it. but ynot deserves some legal justice ugh

this to your entire comment.

i think the thing that still bothers me the most is that this is one of the only completely legit cases of plagiarism that we've seen, rather than just netizens freaking out, and yet people still mindlessly deny that the songs sound similar. :| i mean, when the band who made the original song is agreeing....

I hear similarities =/= there is plagiarism. Definition wise. Just sayin.

Date: 2010-02-05 07:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hoyah.livejournal.com
Okay - they had a case for the song itself, but this is going a bit far. *Why* would they even want to draw attention to having plagiarised a song, if that was the case?

It's shit like this that makes people not take plagiarism seriously. Really? REALLY? Let's completely ignore the serious situation involving copyright infrigement and focus on petty speculation. :|

Honestly, STFD.

Also, there was never an issue between YNot and CN Blue. I hate when these people throw out names without clarifying the situation just to generate buzz.

Really? That's the best you can come up with? I mean, you can't just go off the fact that the songs sound impossibly similar, you have to come up with "well this word sounds like this other word in this other language ergo PLAGIARISM !!!1"

Also, idg WHY they would POSSIBLY want to give themselves away by naming the thing so that it's similar to Blue Bird...

You'd have to be extremely stupid to do that.

BLUEBIRD = ブルー鳥 = ブルーとり = BURUU TORI = BLUE TORY...?

If Kim DoHoon and Lee SangHo had a hand in naming the album, then that was a pretty ballsy move on their part to name it Bluetory. It's fairly obvious that they ripped off Ynot's song, so if they influenced what CN Blue named the album, then it was like they were trying to get in another jab at Ynot.

Fuckers need to be fired and compensation should be made to Ynot. I hope the end result is a cut of the profits from the album, Kim DoHoon and Lee SangHo getting terminated, and a proper public apology from FNC Music. Ynot better not back down on this. The Korean indie scene shouldn't let these big companies rape their work and claim it as their own.

i coulda sworn bluetory was a combination of the work "blue" and "story" which is where "bluetory" comes in. as in these guys telling their "story" or whathaveu in their music...

why the HELL would their management fuck that up with some incoherent answer about "music specialty"??!!!

tory is spelled tori in japanese BTW. lol, at least allow them that. those netizens need to step off a little. i feel bad for the boys cause the song wasn't even made by them
