Vocal survival show "V-1" Episode 2 Performances

“V-1” is a vocal survival show that seeks to find the best vocalist amongst active girl groups in Korea. The title is a combination of the letter “V” from “Vocal” and the number “1” from being the “No. 1” vocalist.
The 12 contestants are APRIL’s Jinsol, Weki Meki’s Choi Yoojung, Weki Meki’s Sooyeon, WJSN’s Yeonjung, gugudan’s Nayoung, SONAMOO’s High.D, GWSN’s Seoryoung, Cherry Bullet’s Bora, Cherry Bullet’s Haeyoon, DreamCatcher’s Siyeon, DIA’s Jueun, and Venus’s Jeong Da Kyung.

I don’t know a lot about Cherry Bullet but Haeyoon wowed me!! I wish I could hear more of Bora and Haeyoons vocals in their title tracks, I feel like neither really made me realize how great those two are

I loveee Siyeon and Yeonjung and know they’re vocal queens, but their song choices I found a little bland/their version was just good to me. Jueun’s performance I enjoyed much more in full, she made me more interested and felt more emotion.

Nayoung’s was ok, I like her deeper vocals. Seoryoung was just ok, sorry girl :(

My favorite would be Haeyoon's performance. It was realllly good! Seoryoung chose a beautiful but difficult song I feel like she struggled with the low notes.

i'm really excited Nayoung chose such an iconic bop!! it wasn't the strongest performance but i still love her<3

i'm not familiar with Cherry Bullet at all but Bora blew me away and now hearing Haeyoon... wow there's talent in that group, i gotta pay closer attention them

Siyeon and Yeonjung were great, although Yeonjung's song choice wasn't my fave. Jueun was a little lackluster for me and I think Seoryoung's song wasn't the right choice for her

Nayoung had great energy.

Seoryoung had a tough task ahead of her with that song.

A lot of muddling through the song to get to high note choices.
That first battle was appropriately close. Nayoung made a good decision to give the audience something different musically. Haeyoon did eek it out though.

Siyeon definitely won but that other girl handed it to her imo. I liked Jueun’s song choice more, and I like her tone, but as soon as she started for them high notes I would have just handed my vote to Dreamcatcher.

Anybody that has to sing against Yeonjung And is her contemporary is being set up. Seoryoung didn’t help with that song (although I think she has a lovey voice).

So far I’m just meh to a lot of these song choices and overall directions these ladies are taking. Like you all have lovely voices, please don’t make us sit through Straight shot for shot covers (I’m assuming because some of these sound less than inspired) with little enticing build to your perceived money notes.

Bora and Haeyoon are not the top of the top rookie vocalists but they're still pretty great and I'm happy with how they performed the past 2 episodes :D
