Lizzo's and Normani's boss performances at the MTVs got me on a trail of thought about how I love it how we got all these strong female artists with strong messages in their songs. This got me thinking, what kpop songs are there with empowering/self-acceptance messages? (bonus point if specifically for women/girls)
Can someone name some song?

(I can only think of Just Right — lol it's a little juvenile but it did have a self-acceptance message in it didn't it? which is the only thing I like about it (that and the boys looking cute but that's beside the point) — and Chunga's Chica, which is prob a better choice)

My n°1 empowering song will always be Into the New World by Girls' Generation. It's not typically the hard-hitting, bad-ass self acceptance track, neither the ultra-positive, ultra-happy empowering track, which is one reason why I love it so much. Life can be hard (as specifically mentioned in the lyrics) and intense, but there's hope.
Rough by GFriend reminds me of it in some ways (or Diary by Gugudan for the ballad-like version)

Another empowering/comforting song would be Cool World by Red Velvet. The lyrics are really sweet ; it's about enjoying life and loving one-self. One of the last line in this song is "I'm my own best-friend" and idk it just resonates so much with me

I have three hours at work today, then in the evening I'll be pampering myself with an ep of Hotel Del Luna and a snack platter all to myself. I always have a list of things I want to do: watch multiple movies or TV shows, make specific foods, try to do some stretching/light exercise etc.

No school for me, even if I did have the motivation to study I don't have a subject I'd be interested in. Maybe in the distant future.

One more shift and then I have the weekend off! I thought about taking one more shift for Saturday because money, but I think I'll just lay in bed for 2 days..

I've been watching No Mercy and even though it aired like 4 years ago and I know who's going to debut I still get anxious watching the elimination parts of the episodes lmao. I'm at ep8 now where they added I.M and everyone's being so mean to him :(((

I also got a ticket for Slipknot's 2020 Helsinki gig! I was hoping for a better seat but I really didn't want to end up with no ticket so I just took the first seat the site randomly offered. Apparently a lot of the tickets were also sold in advance for fanclub members and people who preordered their newest album (which I should've done) but at least I get to go!!

i can't believe it's friday already again, i'm always really looking forward to FFA~

i'm so happy GBBO started again (pls don't spoil me, im still watching ep 1) and i hope Queendom will get subbed, i want to watch it. i'm happy Masterchef will wrap up soon though, what a disaster this season, is anyone else watching? if so, tell me who you are rooting for and what you think of this season so far. I think it's the worst one by far and yet, i keep watching!

did not really have a good week, with the second heat wave here this summer season, it's awful and i'm honestly really looking forward to autumn and winter, i'm so tired of the heat and the humidity, my asthma is a disaster these days :(

also, isn't the quality of clothes going downhill super fast these days? i bought 2 tops and a skirt and i'm sending them back because the tops were sewing was all off and the skirt was even worse, its absolutely unacceptable.
so if anyone knows a store that sells online (in EU), with good quality for a decent price let me know, everything i bought recently is just super cheaply made even though the clothes weren't cheap at all? i may try mango or something next (i always love everything on their website and i do own stuff from them) but let me know your recommendations anyway

For clothes, do you know la redoute? I have quite a few dresses from them and have generally found them really good quality (one of them, for example, I've worn once a week for at least a year now and it still looks great!). Hi Omona!

I am currently home visiting my family because it's my niece's FIRST BIRTHDAY!! I'm so excited, she's so incredibly cute and giggly. Took the eurostar from London to Rotterdam which was really comfortable and easy, think I'll stop flying from now on.

Last week my wife and I went to a K-Pop Fair in Islington. It was full of teenagers and so I felt very old, and I was a little disappointed that the majority of vendors just had BTS and Black Pink stuff, I had been hoping to pick up some more niche/older albums. Tho it was a successful trip anyway, I got Exo's Lotto, EXID's WE, f(x)'s Red Light and Red Velvet's The ReVe Festival Day 1 :).

- I'm slowly getting back to exercising again. The hardest part for me really is starting, but once I've started I'm immediately quite motivated to continue (well, for some amount of time). This time around I'm trying to pace it out and be more chill about it and not drop everything immediately when something hinders me from exercising every day. Also I'm trying not to do the same thing every day, but train different parts different days, as not to over exert the muscles. The diet(/eating habits, since I'm not on some short-term diet) is another thing, but I actually think I eat pretty healthy, might even be eating too little? But then again I don't really go down in weight, but I try not to think of the scale but how my body looks physically/my strength/flexibility.

- I had a slow day at work yesterday, and something prompted me to go do quizzes on how well I know the countries in the world. Mostly I tried out Europe and, turns out, I was embarrassingly bad at locating most of European countries (I have no excuses, I just suck at geography in general). But then I made up these memory tricks/phrases that help me recall the names and locations and like 30min later I'd learned all of Europe. It's crazy how easy it was once I used the memory tricks. (well, I guess it's not that impressive since I should know them already but at leats NOW I know them lol).

idk how you are exercising, but are you doing it from home? in that case, i recommend Fitness Blender, their youtube channel has so many workouts, you can do them all from home and they have tons without equipment. i can't exercise anymore (SO sad), but i used to work out with them all the time, i miss it a lot and i highly recommend it. they are so motivating and not like YOU CAN DO IT PUSH PUSH YOU LOOK SEXY WORKING OUT, they are just normal lol, it's so nice and actually super challenging
anyway, be proud of whatever you do, even if it's a walk or a stretch, it's absolutely worth it

Just popping in to wish a safe weekend to my fellow Floridians omonans! So far Dorian seem to be hitting further south than where I am (Daytona Beach) but I'm not one to count my chickens before they hatch. Hello all. Hope everyone's enjoying their Friyay!

No school for me. I already dropped PhD plans twice (although once was a funding issue) and even just the thought... no. I don't have it in me at the moment (or ever). My nephew started school again a few weeks ago and another one started this week and I find everything about it so unrelatable, like it happened to me in a different lifetime lol. Old age has it advantages but also not.

Highlight of my week was seeing a very dear friend again after a few months, but now we don't know when we'll see each other next (living in different countries). I worry that it might be years... I'm also not the best at keeping in touch. But hopefully we can find a way.

I graduated five years ago and I don't plan to go back to school!!! I took a gap year between my bachelor and my master to do an internship and going from work life to studies again was brutal lol. I couldn't wait for the master to be over!!!

Thanks to everyone who offered me comfort last week <3 I just learned that my Grandma is going back home tomorrow!!! she has been recovering well. She'll have visits from a nurse twice a day to make sure everything is allright (including that she eats and takes her meds) and my parents already moved some furniture around so she won't have to take the stairs alone. I'm seeing her this weekend, I'm relieved I won't have to go to the hospital :')
I still had a challenging week anxiety-wise, mostly because of work (again... I'm cursed lol) but it will pass.

In other news, I'm keeping my brother's cat two more weeks (yay!!!).

I want to read new books (novels in specific) but Idk which ones to buy. I'm quite picky about what I read, so before I buy anything I tend to read reviews (as spoiler-free as possible) and usually it works for me because that way I can avoid topics I don't want to read about in that exact moment (like, I've been avoiding stories w/ mcs coming to terms w/ their sexuality cause I'd read my share of it for now) and well, books that just aren't very good. However, I think right now that tactic it's backfiring because I'm paying more attetion to the negative comments ://.
Generally, I'm not that easily discouraged if I'm actually interested in a book and not just casually curious about it, but the last 2 ones I bought disappointed me, so I guess I'm being extra picky and cautious about the next one.

I tried reading frankestein/the modern prometheus because I downloaded it long ago, but it bored me lol. It's been years since I've read an older novel so the meadering plot and the overly descriptive writing tired me.

I'm craving a fantasy/w fantasy elements book w/ lgbtq+ characters that blows my mind!! So if anybody got some recs, please send them my way!

I recommend NK Jemisin even though she's more sci-fi/fantasy. She's my modern day Octavia Butler. Everyone loves The Fifth Season but I recommend A Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. We Set the Dark on Fire is YA but also a really great read because it doesn't feel immature. I enjoyed it at least!

i finally graduated w my bachelors degree so i am DONE with school. FOREVER. no masters no nothing!!! but i will start private language tutoring again (through italki) when i can afford it. and i think moving to thailand to teach english is still on the table so i'll need to find a thai tutor...

i'm back on the job hunt again 😭 i really hate working retail so i'm trying to find an entry level marketing or office job of some sort, but the market for that kind of job in my city is so dry. i feel like i've already applied everywhere i would want to work. i swear i only ever get on here to complain about jobs msjndkfsdf
