I think it’s just the camera angles that makes the choreo more cohesive because i looked at the fancams for one of these performances and it still seemed messy...at least they have pretty good vocalists and they look like they’re enjoying themselves this comeback especially Joy and Wendy

I agree with the styling and the choreo itself being great for them too. It could be more interesting but the clapping part is fun and the dance break choreo. Also i’d rather see them enjoy themselves and have stage presence than carry out a complex choreo looking dead behind the eyes

i'm rly loving the live perfs of this era! song-wise i still think this is a weak title in comparison to their earlier tracks but bc everything else (styling, stage presence, vocals etc) is so top-notch it's easy to overlook
like i'm such a whipped stan, i'm just happy to see them enthusiastic and charismatic on stage lol

i've always been a bit defensive when it comes to ppl attacking rv's stage presence, but when they're serving top-tier stage charisma their lack of it in other promotion eras just becomes more apparent lol. they seem to rly enjoy performing the song which is great

my opinion on the choreo has also become more positive since i've seen it live a couple of times, it's still simplistic but there's actually some variation in the choreo for the choruses and the dance 'break' before the bridge is cool (albeit way too short lmao)

also i need to mention the styling again bc omg this retro casual look is everything

They look so much happier performing this compared to Zimzalabim to me lol.
Also the first performance was almost certainely live (usually I can tell thanks to Joy lol and that high note was really obvious compared to the playback performance) and they sounded good!

They low-key criticized Zimzalabim during the promotions (like saying they recorded it a long time ago and never thought this would be a lead single/were caught by surprise when it showed up again) while they teased Umpah Umpah as a "pretty song" haha

Yeah when i heard that the song was recorded in 2016 i was like what are you doing, SM? You can’t just keep a pop song stored away for so long. It also seemed like they were being lazy with RV at the time like if you didn’t use it in 2016 there must’ve been a reason

Zimzalabim had great elements for me but they should have spent those three years re-writing it lol.
I guess they saw Really Bad Boy doing allright despite its weird song structure/chorus + bad timing (should have been for Halloween ffs) and thought it was now or never for Zimzalabim

yeah ZZB could've used a re-write. UU actually has a good song structure with build-up and pay off. Though i would've preferred the clapping and singing all together part to be longer and have more ad-libs to really give it that early 2000's flair.

lol i thought RBB would be a sign for SM that weird song structure would not work for RV. ikr. the timing was so bad for RBB. i would even forgive those annoying ear-piercing screams if they released it around Halloween time since it actually makes sense to have them in the song then. it's like they plan stuff out for RV then put them on the backburner and then they're like "oh wait we still have RV who need to make a comeback". even now UU is a super late summer song

Love this comeback! I can listen through the whole song without my ears hurting and the girls look like they’re having fun on stage. Enjoying the ad-libs and harmonies too. I kind of like their stripped down live version on vlive more because the backtrack isn’t loud and you can hear them singing more. The outfits are great but the choreo could be more interesting but at the same time i feel like only seulgi pulls off the harder choreo. Hope they get a lot of wins this time. I’ve had the song stuck in my head lately especially the umphah umphah part
