I mean...at least there is actual evidence now. Yikes at most of the fans at the source completely dismissing/excusing this (and I say this as an IOI fan).

I'd be interested to see how this affects the final team rosters bc I don't see all of these kids that make the cut having that much backing (Kim Jaehwan, Sohye maybe... so crazy it almost has to be real). But then again it'd probs ruin anyone who benefited from the rigging so maybe I'm not that interested. :\

in sohye's case, i find it hard to believe that she would win through rigging. people really do love an underdog, and her journey from the bottom to the top made it hard not to root for her.
now, as far as the amount of screentime she got... THAT i would question.

So maybe this is why Nuest Jonghyun didn’t make it into Wanna One?

Forever bitter about that but then again, Nu'est been doing fine so can't complain lol

i mean what they can't really to do about IOI or wannaone and even Izone, but with X1 debut around the corner, I wonder if they will do something about it.

also this is an excellent reason to not do any more seasons of produce

how rigged is "rigged" tho? did they completely manipulate everything from the number of votes thus it affected the final line-ups? or did they only manipulate the number of votings without changing the final line-ups?

This happens a lot with this type of competition
Usually the prods pick the winner in advance to gain time with post production
Unless there's a surprise contestant they didn't see coming

This way they can work on advertisement and such in advance (at least that's what they used to do here).

Why are the police involved in this? seems weird. Especially with how much they failed to do about YG

IF the results are completely fabricated, imagine being a contestant and one these 2 options: 1) the show strips away a lot of your votes so you don't enter the group or 2) the show does not believe in you and just gives you votes so you will make it - just imagine people finding out you did not actually make it, i would be so ashamed
it's a bit like that girl who's parents got caught buying their child into uni, but in this case it's the show you participate in, how embarrassing

... first option somehow sounds slightly better to me. but idk, that's just me.

absolutely and that's not embarrassing, but it is awful still, because basically they take away your job and potential income, that's awful

ia i'd take number one rather than find out i was given something i didn't deserve. imagine the public fallout some of these kids have the potential to receive. anyone done dirty by mnet has the chance for a career revival if this blows up enough.

Sure but in what way

Did Mnet always have a fixed line up from the get-go? Did companies pay bribes to get trainees on the line up?? Were votes faked??

Honestly, if it was vote alterations, it probably started with season 3.
The reactions for season 1 and 2 were very tame, people (Koreans) were not surprised/upset with the results (with one exception in season 2, but I strongly believe that was due how they edited the final episode not due editing votes). Plus, in season 1 they had no idea how big it would get, if they did the contracts would have been written very differently. Companies wanted their girls back after the results, not in the group necessarily.

The final for Season 3 made no sense at all. Maybe the right girls, but the wrong order? idk (Yena, Yuri, even Yujin.... I believe they made it, but probably not as high as they were ranked)
I didn't watch season 4, but it sounded even more of mess than season 3.

For all the seasons, did the producers pick favorites and mess with screen time? Hell yes. But that is not illegal, it is just reality tv. Unless they were monetarily bribed, but I think it was more companies asking to highlight a certain. (A good example was that starship wanted to highlight Taeha, but Yeonjung ended up being the star, Same thing with Yujin vs Wooyoung). However, I can see companies starting to pay for attention in season 3 considering the airing order and what not.

This is my feeling too - they've always been able to control a certain amount of the outcome due to their own editing (when they want to get rid of someone they can just throw them a less-than-favourable edit). Nearly everyone who got into the final group in S1 had focus on them from the audition episodes, except for Yeonjung because they were trying to focus on Taeha but that backfired and Yeonjung got spotlight early on for being in the underdog INTW team.

Maybe, if anything, the outrage from Jonghyun made them think, ah yes, shock eliminations don't actually mess with the fanbase in any way and also generate press for the show so let's do more?

Lol
Before going on, I'm sad for the trainees who got into this mess and were robbed, it's unfair.
But after everything we've been through this year in terms of "scandals", I'm amused by the Produce-mess. It has been clear since season 1 that there were manipulations - probably more through storylines and screentime distribution in the beginning (Sohye wouldn't have been into IOI without her ~overcoming hardships~ storyline + Sejeong helping her). The companies all saw how much money could be made from CFs/etc, so I'm not surprised they would start rigging votes.
I wonder how this will impact X1? What a bad timing for these kids...

not surprising but also lol at this being exposed in the one season where most ppl actually liked the line-up and didn't think too much shady things were going on.
(I didn't watch it just basing this on what I've read)

meanwhile last season was a complete mess in terms of ranking. If anything I thought it was super obvious that there were manipulations happening there.

I don't know about last season. But this investigation was launched becausw knets were complaining a lot about the final votes, and how they didn't make sense and were rigged.

As someone who invested lots of time and emotions for this show since season 1, I'm a bit sad to have confirmed MNET rigged it but not surprised. I once said its possible (made that comment here in Omona) and got not so nice comments for saying so lmao. I feel bad for those who got cheated but its too early to say anything coz we dont know the level of "cheating" done.

This also makes me doubt MAMA. Coz for sure they can cheat too!

i'm not shocked that it was rigged, but i AM shocked that hard evidence was found.

whatever comes of this, i hope if it's revealed which people only won through rigging, they won't face too many negative consequences for it. i feel awful for those who lost due to rigging, but i doubt the winners had any say in it either. going through a show like this has to be a ton of work and suffering for everyone.
