On July 24, the Korean Red Cross revealed that Taeyeon had donated 100 million won (approximately $84,940) to the Korean Red Cross’s North Jeolla province office.

A source from the Korean Red Cross explained that Taeyeon had asked for the funds to be used to help support women, children, and adolescents in low-income households by providing hygiene products such as sanitary pads. The organization will use the donation to provide hygiene products to three schools.

Taeyeon stated, “I decided to make my donation because I’ve watched my mother help those in need and give hope to others through the Korean Red Cross. I hope I can provide warmth to female students who are having a difficult time and feel neglected.”

Through her donation, Taeyeon has now become the 132nd member of the Red Cross Honors Club (RCHC) in Korea, and is the first celebrity from North Jeolla province to do so. The RCHC celebrates those who have made significant donations to the organization to help those in need.

It's great that she specifically mentioned hygiene products for women, I hope she can inspire others to do the same!

After reading "It's only blood" I signed up for regular donation to provide hygene products for low-income families, it's crazy to live with a stress of how you'll manage your period every.single.month. Especially with the stigma it has and what a hinderance it presents to getting an education or going to work.
Gj, Taeyeon!

if you don't mind me asking, can you elaborate on how you can donate hygiene products? i'd like to be able to do that when i have a little more $$ to spare!

Read through this, to get a better idea what kind of options are available: https://www.bustle.com/p/10-organizations-that-provide-menstrual-products-for-people-who-need-them-how-you-can-help-45116
One of the first things to figure out is if you want to support local communities (actually donating products yourself even) or places where, for example, girls drop-out rate from school (partially for not having access to said products) is worrying. The products provided are different too- are they name brands or do they have a more environmentally friendly approach? Google presents several options more up to date than that article. Also Amazon Smile program has several this kind of charity options, where a small donation for your chosen organisation is made any time you make a purchase.
Hope this helps!
