Happy Friday! Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week we’ll go back to the 2nd week of July, 2013.


#3 Davichi “Missing You Today”
This was a digital single and the duo didn’t go on any music shows, but I found a Sketchbook appearance. Despite little promotions, the song went to the top of the charts.

#2 Lee Seung Chul “My Love”
For the lead single off of his 11th album, veteran singer helped orchestrate a real marriage proposal for the song’s music video. She looked so confused at first omg I thought she was going to run lol. But she seemed really touched and said yes so it’s all good. They looked really cute together at the end.

#1 Dynamic Duo featuring Muzie “Baaam”
You don’t need to be an idol group to put out a dance version MV! You could be a hip hop duo who doesn’t even appear in the MV at all, and instead feature some sexy ladies dancing in some sexy lighting. I really like the song, the part with the vocoder or talk-box makes me want to listen to Zapp & Roger now lol.

#6 Girl’s Day “Female President”
This was a really big hit for them, and it gave the group their first music show win. It was also a follow up to “Expectation”, and while I preferred that song, I do think this showcases vocals more. The girls look so gorgeous here, but I think the video is pervy. If I remember right, they lied to Yura about the angles of some of the shots. That was this video, right?

#7 4Minute “Is It Poppin’?”
This is my most favorite song from them, I love it so much! I’ve loved it from the first listen, it was such a fun summer song! Apparently they had to censor the word “ass” from the song because KBS threw a fit lol. They all look cute, and omg those “Geek” shirts that were everywhere back then. Also, is that dude wearing a Satan jersey in the beginning?

i was obsessed w/ "baaam" when it came out. still a jam! i loved "female president" but can never watch the vid again after reading about it. i still have issues w/ "is it poppin'?" because of that "go-go-going crazy" sample that repeats throughout the whole. freaking. song.

I still like what’s popping? It was kind of similiar to another song they released before but i liked that kind of style, and the mv showed them having fun and being more carefree.

The story behind girl’s day MV is so unfortunate. The song is just ok to me but i remember it being a pretty big hit. I thought it charted higher at the time.

Some people pointed out that ballads are dominating the korean charts right now even though it’s summer but i guess it’s not the first time judging by this list. I guess it’s like summertime sadness re-entering the charts but for heteros

So, what happened to girl's day? I don't remember they disbanding, or it's one of those situations when they don't oficially disband but don't promote as a group anymore either?

They did disband :( in Jan 2019 none of the girls renewed their contracts, and I think I didn’t hear any ‘oh we’re still going to promote as 4!’ So it’s officially over
