I like the styling, very kitschy. Not sure about the theme of birthday tho, lol. Maybe they are hoping people will play this at their birthday parties.
last scene especially reminded me of jennie in dududu mv but in general it looks very low budget, like a behind the scenes video of promo photoshoot. not sure if i will be able to sit through a whole song of somi's voice because she still sounds as childish as ever BUT i see no dreads, i hear no rap, so it's already a lot better than what i expected from her solo debut! i'm sure she will do well.
I've been watching YouTube videos to see what all the controversy over her voice is about and...yeah, I get it now. It's nasal, it's off-key, and for me it's almost as annoying as Momo's voice. The song sounds like it fits her voice though, so it may just turn out okay.
Even when Zion.t had his release from the Black Label he had a whole song factory set and he was flying around. You think they'll throw a bit more money/attention at the center from I.O.I on her first outing.
Other than that, I agree with the first comment about it sounding Red Velvet-y.
omg why does she remind me of doyeon in some of the quick flashes of clips. i legit was like... did she get doyeon to co-star in her mv???
i'm sure she's going to do well. she's a great performer and very charismatic even if her voice isn't everyone's cup of tea with that strange kidz-bop-esque quality. i'm hoping she stayed in touch with that vocal teacher from sm who worked with her in unnies slam dunk. he boosted her confidence way up and really understood her insecurities with her tone.
On a side note between Fancy and this I’m really tired of kpop groups including “birthday” in their songs, like it just adds an element that makes it seem extremely childish no matter what the song. But maybe that’s just me
