I like both of these The amount of Jeongyeon in Breakthrough is really satisfying. She was so striking standing in the middle for her chorus part. I hadn't noticed how tall she was before Breakthrough is also really good, it stands out next to their other tracks without being completely different. It was nice to hear Sana and Momo without the aegyo tone they do for most releases. Jihyo absolutely murdered that choreography. Omona is going to hate on Happy Happy and yeah it's not my cup of tea either but it was cute, the girls were clearly having fun, and Japan will probably eat it up Mina's voice...wasn't grating in either of these? And she emoted in the bridge of Happy Happy? So I'm really surprised and impressed and maybe finally she has been removed as the major obstacle of me really liking Twice tracks? The styling's really nice, all in all I'm really happy with these two tracks!
I like both tracks! Both really sold the concept that they were going for and the MV's are very clever w.r.t. using the same set for each.
Twice needs to harmonize more in their songs because the taste we got of it in Breakthrough was....*chef finger kiss* Also love that they let Sana and Momo use their natural singing voices. Actually the lower tone of BT overall was refreshing.
A a very very very casual fan.....it seems like Twice is always releasing music? There is never a break at all, it feels like they release new music every month and the quality is a bit iffy.
i've been following them since debut, but only their korean releases. i mainly consider their korean discography to be their "real" discography, as their jpn songs have a noticeably different sound that appeals more to the jpop market. if you do it that way, i think you'll like their overall sound more and won't be so overwhelmed with new releases. but yeah, ever since they made their jpn debut they've been crazy busy in both countries.
on first listen in the office, both songs are kinda boring but visually I like both. Happy is a fun summery track. And Breakthrough is just visually gorgeous. I need a second listen to determine whether I like the songs themselves.

Vocals: check Dance: check Charisma: check, check, check Beauty: check Versatility and leadership: check She gets better and better each comeback, I can’t with this queen. Also, Twice should sing way more tracks with a lower tone, it did wonders to Sana and Momo. Also Nayeon, JY and Jihyo can do the vocals and some harmonies much comfortably like this. I loved the styling and JYPE didn’t have to spend much to do a pretty MV highlighting what the girls do best.
They won't be my favourite singles by them, but I enjoyed both! They did their job. Happy is the usual bright, poppy Twice single except they don't force aegyo as much as usual. Breakthrough is really different though - Fancy could have been packaged as the usual bright concept but not Breakthrough. Also, somehow, it reminds me of late 00's/early 10's jpop? Idk I could be waaay off but the mix of relaxed vibe over harder hitting beats reminded me of Namie? I love how they used the same sets but totally changed the mood with lightning/color palettes. Pretty clever and certainely cost/time saving lol, which is great given how Twice seems to always be working. Those black outfits in Breakthrough... omg

definitely liked breakthrough more but the 'breaththrough breakbreak breakthrough' or w/e that part is really brings the quality down of the overall song a bit imo but its great to see twice in a more dark tone

Happy Happy is pretty consistent with what we know Twice for, so I'm not complaining. I keep expecting some sort of choreography though, especially at the chorus... Feels like a missed opportunity.

Legit question - why are the girls allowed to sing in deeper ranges in their Japanese releases vs in Korea? They sound so good, it’s kinda frustrating they have to sing much higher in Korean
"happy happy" is pretty on-brand for them. i don't really dislike it, but i definitely feel like i've heard this same song over and over, lol. "breakthrough" is... alright, i guess. it's the better of the 2, but i feel like something is missing from it?
