YG Entertainment has denied claims that the agency’s founder Yang Hyun Suk mediated sexual services for foreign investors.

On May 26, MBC’s “Straight” released a teaser video for their upcoming episode where they brought forth allegations that Yang Hyun Suk had solicited prostitutes for foreign investors. “Straight” claims that they have obtained evidence in the form of detailed testimony that Yang Hyun Suk arranged such services for two Southeast Asian investors in July 2014.

The show claimed, “Yang Hyun Suk and one YG singer waited for them [investors] at an upscale Korean restaurant in Gangnam, and strangely, there were 25 women who accompanied the eight men at the restaurant. Of the 25 women, at least ten were from a well-known adult entertainment establishment that has close ties with YG.”

They went on to state, “After the meal, they moved to NB, a club in Gangnam that is said to be actually owned by Yang Hyun Suk. We have obtained evidence that at this club, sexual services were involved.”

In response, YG Entertainment has denied the claims and stated, “The claims are false. Although Yang Hyun Suk was there, as he had been invited by an acquaintance, there was never any solicitations of any kinds of services.”

The “Straight” episode on Yang Hyun Suk is set to air on May 27 at 8:55 p.m. KST.

He doesn't have the best track record with women so I would not be surprised...

Yeah, of course he was. A lot of execs in kpop and the industry in general are, going by Jang Ja-yeon's account in her suicide letter.

I doubt he'll face any consequences tho.

How do you get invited to your own club and not know you provide prostitution services as well?

YG seems doomed :o
I kinda feel bad for the artist that are currently active and have nothing to do with all this shit because they're affected aswell
To think that 2 or 3 years ago they could say proudly that they were from YG... things change

YG has been shit for years, even decades. They knew what they were getting into.

It's true, but you have to admit, in term of public reputation in Korea, they're at their worst now, and that's really important for an artist
And also, without thinking much, I would say every company has been shitty for years, maybe it's the enterteinment industry as a whole that's shit, or is just how's the working culture in Korea that makes it like that, but I'm sure for many artist, even cosidering the shitty things that YG had, 3 years ago it was a really good option for career development out all the shitty options

i mean well duh how else would seungri be committing all of his crimes while also still having this invincible shield where he could kill someone right in fron of judge and they would still be 'oh i dunno it's not like there is any way for him to destroy evidence'.
but then again it's not like anything can bring yg down and fans will keep giving him money anyway. future sure seems bleak regarding this whole case.

At least there was a university in Korea that boycotted yg group performances recently but I don’t know if there are more boycotts going on anywhere. Yg will probably still get money overseas since most of the shitshow is taking place in Korea and casual fans are not keeping up with all this news

Date: 2019-05-27 06:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] nekokonneko.livejournal.com
It's not just people not keeping up, lots of people outright refuse to stop giving this wretched company money because they like one or more of the artists signed to it.

Date: 2019-05-28 01:03 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lizanka23.livejournal.com
Yeah that’s true too. There are definitely more people continuing to buy yg artists’ stuff just because their faves are there rather than boycott and hope the artists will leave to go to another company

Not surprising coming from a guy who feels like he needs to comment on women’s fuckability every chance he gets. I hope artists signed to YG can leave and find new companies to promote with especially the ones that were forced to sit in the basement all this time until yg took them out of there for damage control

I'm curious, can artists even sue the company for damages in these types of case?

Date: 2019-05-27 06:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] nana-the-dwarf.livejournal.com
I was thinking about this a while ago. Most people don’t want to stop supporting the company because of the artists signed to it, but these sort of news could affect their livelyhood, more so if new ones keep coming up. Perhaps they could at the very least sue for contract termination, if not outright damages.

If fans actually organized, they wouldn’t feel as reluctant to stop supporting and that way the artist wouldn’t end up being as affected.
