Happy Friday! A personal moment to thank 1theK for mass uploading a bunch of old KPop MVs this week, because over the past few years I’ve had to hunt some of them down for these posts and the best I could find were poor quality re-uploads. I totally squealed out loud lol. Anywho, every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we’re going back 10 years to the 4th week of May, 2009.



#3 2PM “Again And Again”
A recent concert stage this time, so here’s the guys at their 6 Nights concert in 2017, the last time they all performed together before they began enlisting. I think that this song is still the first one I think about when I think about the group.

#2 2NE1 “Fire”
A picture from this MV topped the cake when the girls celebrated their 10 year anniversary together a few days ago. I don’t really remember either versions of the music videos for this song, I remember the live stages more. I remember only two things from this video: Bom’s leotard (swimsuit?), and GD in the background wtf lol.

#1 Super Junior “It’s You”
My favorite Super Junior song. Out of the three MVs (I’ve already posted the other two) for this song, this one, the drama version, is the one I remember the most. Now I think it’s my least favorite out of the bunch lol. Still love the song though, it’s one of my all-time fav KPop songs.

#5 Shinee “Juliette”
Another kind of recent concert stage, here they are at Shinee World in 2016. OMG so sweaty! I watched this twice because I was too busy the first time checking the stage for towels for them to wipe their faces with lol. I don’t remember this hair on Minho at all, I really really like it. They all look real good.

#7 Kim Tae Woo “Memory And Remembrance”
There was no live performances of this song, so here’s the MV again. It’s a good song, but I also really like Kim Tae Woo’s voice so I could be biased. This was somewhat of an g.o.d reunion, with four out the of the five members participating in the song. The whole group wouldn’t fully reunite together until 2014 for their 15th anniversary.

I remember being so mad at Jonghyun during Juliette era because he was an absolute bias wrecker, poor Key barely stood a chance. There is just something about this era in particular where I prefer Jjong over Key, and I love literally every hairstyle Key's ever done except Juliette.

2NE1 and SNSD really do hold the best debut songs of their generation. I don't think I can think of any GG in the newer generation that has surpassed them. I remember listening to 'Fire' in the school library and I got in trouble for having my headphones too loud omfg how embarrassing

I wish I could go back and remember what I was thinking during the early SHINee years. I know I was heavily Key-biased (still am), but Jjong was a very close second. And that Juliette hair was a statement to say the least.

Juliette era was such fun lol XD But I don't think Jjong really started wrecking my bias list until Lucifer because HOT DAMN *O*

2NE1 and SNSD really did have some of the best debut songs. Looking back, there aren't many groups that I can honestly say that I've loved them since their debut songs. Shinee, DBSK and f(x) also had pretty great debut songs. Woo, lemme just cry from all those feels I'm feeling right now OTL

Thank you so much for posting this SHINee clip I hadn't seen before (or had seen once but didn't remember)!!

I wonder if they were so sweaty because of the clothes they were wearing? I've always wondered why they *don't* seem to sweat more, given how many layers they tend to wear onstage. Or maybe this was an outdoor concert? I think it's fairly humid in SK, if I am to judge from other Asian cities I've visited.

Key seemed to be a little less shiny than the others. Clearly the skincare routine was working. ;)

Again & Again is probably still my fave 2PM song, same with It's You for SJ. Fire will always be FIRE because 2NE1 has always been slaying me ever since they stepped on the scene! RIP to the baddest females of their generation T_T

i got into kpop in 2008 and it was good then but nothing compared to the legendary year that was 2009. as evidenced by this post it was bop after bop after bop all being released at the same time. i actually got into shinee just before juliette so it was my first comeback with them and i was completely in love with everything about it.

for some reason it's you seems like it came out later than 09 to me, but that's probably because i was a big super junior fan in 08 but then right after it's you started falling out of the fandom. it's you is definitely their best single though.

These are the songs that were hot/came out around the time I got into kpop, I haven't listened to It's You in a long time but as soon as I read the title, the chorus started playing in my head lol.
2NE1 and 4minute were the main reasons I wanted to start buying colorful clothes to my wardrobe in 2009. I think I got a few tops and leggings (maybe a pair of pants) but in the end it was just a phase and 10 years later all my clothes are black lmao.
