Date: 2019-05-20 04:04 pm (UTC)Honestly this promo era fell victim to poor execution of the teasers, the confusing schedule and poor choice of MV/song snippet teasers
and I'm not even talking about the mess that is the tour planning and how their US dates aren't selling tickets that well bc of itDivision 2, the infamous new team for JYPE has gotten nothing but trashed on twitter from what I've seen lol. Basically fans love GOT7 but hate JYPE/Division 2 and whatever they'renotdoing for them. The album is sooooo good, I can always count of GOT7 themselves to deliver. So far 1° and PAGE stand out the most (I know, Jinyoung's ain't there whaaat, it's not that I don't like it, it's just that those are just so much better). But overall in the album the instrumentals are catchy and interesting but not too busy which I think has been a problem for them in the past. Only one that's maybe considered the odd one out is Eclipse, but it's definitely not as bad I had expected and I can see myself not skipping it every time it come on lol. It's still the busiest of all the tracks, and idk if maybe some editing would've made it sound better, idk.

I'm pretty sure I mean I assume??is a part of the new "JYP 2.0" (omona post (https://omonatheydidnt.livejournal.com/22569689.html#comments)), well at least I saw the term "Division 2" pop up after that announcementno subject

Date: 2019-05-20 04:13 pm (UTC)This song doesn't hold a candle to Lullaby tbh so I'm slightly disappointed in it as a title track, albeit Lullaby would be REALLY hard to top tbf.
I do like the relative lack of Jackson and especially Mark on this song. Yay! And BamBam did pretty good with his parts! (See, I can compliment GOt7's rap line!)
Jinyoung wasn't looking as tasty as usual. Still good ofc, but I think he has to have the exact right amount of bangs for me to wet myself.
I don't like waiting this long into a vid to have to see JB's gorgeous visuals, especially if it means sitting through Youngjae's oops, but there's a lot of JB in the second half which I appreciate.

Date: 2019-05-20 05:39 pm (UTC)I feel like Mark's rapping has improved, in some of the previous songs my first reaction to the rap line was to cringe, but I didn't feel it so much this time, but on first listening, I didn't really feel *anything* so much. I will need to listen to the album next.
Overall a solid effort, but it wouldn't be a song I would use to attract new GOT7 fans

Date: 2019-05-20 05:49 pm (UTC)I'mma chime in on the Division 2 hate. Literally what are they doing. The tour needed to have been announced months ago. Literally everyone and their mom is touring and if people knew for sure that the tour was happening they might have saved money instead of going to small nugu groups. Also why not release the MV at midnight? Now people have to decide whether to stream online or on platforms. The incompetence is staggering. They did so well with Itzy debut I had hope, but seriously this promo cycle is the pits. The boys don't deserve this level of stupid. (And now I fear for that Itzy comeback)

Date: 2019-05-20 08:04 pm (UTC)got7 generally have a problem with choosing the right song as a title track but idk, i think they made the right choice for this album! yeah, page goes off really hard and it's a fan-favorite from what i've seen but i still think eclipse is the best song for promotions. like eclipse is not my favorite song but page is more of a concert song imo! that said, i can't stand the eclipse mv, like. jype. what are you doing. please! get yourself together
once again, idk if this is because i haven't listened to it enough but one thing i noticed is that jb kind of fades into the background on this album? i love his voice and usually seek it out so it's very curious. i guess it's something that'll get better in time, once my brain gets used to the songs. :')
okay, it's 2019 so i really need got7 to stop that weird singing thing they do (and have been doing since their flight log trilogy) where they start a line normally and then go into a falsetto at the last syllable like... does anyone understand? lmfao anyway it's something i very much dislike. also... the autotune. bam's song is sooo good (they usually are) and idk if all that autotune is his idea but if it is... baby, please stop. but jinyoung's part in his song is like... one of my fave parts on this whole album lmfao so thank you bam! just yeah, the autotune. i don't even think he needs it, he sounds good with his normal voice so idk why he seems to be so fond of it. it's to the point where i almost can't enjoy the song even though i really really want to
sorry for this long comment! all in all, i like all songs very much. i can't wait to seem got7 perform them in concert!!!!!!!!!! i'm not sure about a ranking yet but i'd say all of them are pretty even except for bam's song which i would rank second only because of the excessive autotune :')

Date: 2019-05-22 10:06 am (UTC)I think I get what you mean, when I listen to the album fully though, the songs kinda blend into each other, and I have to consciously listen to the songs individually to really get the feel of them. The only ones that stand out were 1° and PAGE (and Eclipse, tho not for good reason bc I think it felt very different from the rest lol). I don't think it was this noticeable in Verse 2 tho!
where they start a line normally and then go into a falsetto at the last syllable
I THINK I know what you mean, is this the thing that esp Jackson and the other rappers do? Bc in that case ia lol, they're always the ones including these weird quirks into their rap/singing and it's like... ugh
I don't understand Bambam's attachment to autotune, no one else but him and Mark (I think?) have it in that song so is it bc he thinks they're not gonna sound good otherwise lol? Unless it's there for a very specific effect it feel kinda pointless and this song didn't really have the vibe for it imo.
Also, even at the risk of sounding biased, Jinyoung's parts and vocals in many songs are really great this time around I'm very pleased lol

Date: 2019-05-22 01:43 pm (UTC)yes!! i think it works well with some songs but not so much with others and i'm honestly so ready for them to stop with those quirks! it doesn't always work well when they sing live either so... but also!! from what i've seen in like popular mainstream pop music, stuff like autotune is still very trendy which i guess is why got7 feel no reason to stop either. i mean i totally get that but i still think it's unnecessary lmao

Date: 2019-05-20 11:08 pm (UTC)Lullaby really was a lucky strike for GOT7.
I thought we were finally going to get continued growth or variety from them.

Date: 2019-05-21 04:47 am (UTC)usme to believe. The video is incredibly cheap looking and Jinyoung doesn't look amazing as per so someone fucked up. I don't really have anything else to say about it other than they need a new creative director/team.I haven't listened to the EP yet as I've been dealing with bronchitis, so hopefully I'll be able to give it a go in a few days.
Also, slight edit, but rapline on the title track actually sound great so I would like them continue that—especially Jackson with losing that tone he's been using for a bit.

Date: 2019-05-24 02:19 pm (UTC)1. 1° A great way to begin the EP. I really like this one. Everyone sounds great on here. I especially like the chorus.
2. Eclipse I can see why this was the lead, but I prefer "끝". I'm happy that the teasers were misleading and this turned out great.
3. 끝 This is the one. I'm not surprised that this is the Jinyoung track—he just gets it.
4. Time Out There's something about this one that I really, really hate—I think it's that detuned synth that permeates the entire track.
5. 믿어줄래 This was one of the tracks that I was worried about when we were given the credits and... yeah, I'm not in love with it. I like the chorus for the most part, but the verses let it down majorly.
6. Page I was really enjoying this one until Jackson opened his mouth on the "I think I love you" line and then the second verse happened. Unfortunately rapline doesn't mesh well with the instrumental on this one.
That makes three out of six tracks that I like. This is after two to three listens so we'll see if my opinions change, but I doubt they will. My issue with GOT7 is that when they get it right, they're amazing, but they often fall short of the overall package. I feel like they've really stagnated after the 7 for 7 era.

Date: 2019-05-26 03:32 pm (UTC)I think got7's divisiveness comes form them having some very good song-writers (JJP, who both have grown into their signature style but manage to deliver new exciting music without repeating themselves too much, on top of having good vocals), and then the rest, which haven't quite grasped their style, as well as a rap-line that divides people a lot on whether they're good or not lol.
I actually quite liked Jackson I Page, I think here the "shouting" style actually suited the song :P

Date: 2019-05-21 04:11 pm (UTC)Album wise, my fave seems to be No1, and then Bambam’s one. Jackson’s rap put me off Page, but it is still a nice listen. I was disappointed at YJ’s song though, my fave songs are usually what he composes.

Date: 2019-05-21 08:35 pm (UTC)This is probably my favorite got7 album. 1° and 끝 are right up my alley and both are continuations of the sounds Yugyeom and Jinyoung have put out. I'm completely ok with that. I wish there was a lot less autotune on Bambam's track. Was looking forward to it the most from the album spoiler and the actual song sounds much more 2000s redux than I want.
OT but why is the actor Kim Sangjoong involved in this comeback? Not a complaint (great for networking, especially for Jinyoung), just confused.
