Hangyul's face is indeed something else! From what I saw in The Unit he's also a good dancer and can both sing and rap, though I prefer him singing cause we don't get enough bass voices in kpop.

I haven’t seen episode 3 yet, but I’m rooting for Yuvin (he looks like svt’s Mingyu), Yohan, Dongpyo, Hyungjun, Tony, Sihun, and Suhwan.

On a side note: In what world is Mingyu a visual? I mean, he seems like a nice kid, but...

On another side note: I recently watched Produce 101 China and I’m probably definitely in love with Meiqi. She’s literally perfect.

Im confused by the attraction to Mingyu too but I guess that's Korean standard of beauty. He is not very talented but of course, I already see him making the team with all the close ups and screen time he is getting. He is currently in top 2 right now. Of course, Mnet is going to portray him as hardworking to justify getting him into the team.

The Love Shot perfomance was so good, everyone sounded great. I was a bit confused with the Mama performance at first, until I realized that the camera was being random because the JYP kid was in this group lmao He's pretty good, so the whole situation is too bad :(

Yeah, there were news the other day (from his teachers and alumnis in his class) and a statement from JYP that the bullying rumours were false. I know drinking/smokin while underage is a strong thing in korea specially if you are an idol, but everyone in my class already drank by the age of 13 (although I didn't) so I don't consider it to be that much of an issue. So it's too bad that he had to leave because of that.

My only problem with the exo stages is that mama vs love shot was not a fair battle lol ofc love shot was going to win. It's a song full of fanservice dance moves and is vocally 100x easier than mama. Mama is a very particular kind of style too and love shot's style is a lot more appealing to the masses. I may be a bit bitter coz my pick is in mama team lmfao BUT love shot team really did an amazing job. The vocals and dancing were all on point

Yeah, not only for exo. All the debut vs hit are unfair except SVT, NCT and NuestW. Like Trespass vs Dramarama? GGG vs Lullaby?? No More Dream vs BS&T??? If they at least picked other songs from their debut year(s) like f.e. Hero and Boy in Luv it would have been much more fair. For GOT7 they could have picked from their first 2 years A, Stop Stop It, Just Right and If You Do lmao

I totally agree! It's obvious how unfair it is by the trainees not even knowing the debut songs lmfao but I feel like some groups will pull through and be amazing like the No More Dream team. I just felt like there is no way any song would win against love shot, let alone mama.
As for NCT it would have been 100x better if they did NCT Dream. They could have done Chewing Gum which is a song that would suit so many of the young trainees, and then Go, We Go Up or even My First and Last. NCT U was such a strange choice coz their songs are so "out there" compared to the other groups

yeah his voice is great and he can dance. He was JYP's lone submission after all and they don't send just anybody unlike YG. Sad about the whole situation, he is talented but will probably never debut. This will haunt him, netizens won't let it die if he shows up in the industry again, unfortunately.

Well, idk about dance, he struggled a lot in the video for x1-ma nad he was ranked X, although I'm guessing it was done for drama because it's obvious that he can sing.

At the end of the day I'm fine with the decision if he really was a bully, but otherwise it seems unfair. They should have really look into this before dropping him so fast. netizens won't let it die I thought that they were petitioning for him to return to the show?

jo seungyeon is RISING and i’m so here for it. the live votes are interesting bc they don’t always reflect how the trainee will do on the rankings, so i’m hopeful sk fans will recognize his talents and help him rise by the first elimination. i’m also glad some of the mnet drama!underdogs are doing well a la starship boys.

i follow the subreddit for this show and someone explained why some trainees are so steady on their rankings even with minimal exposure and i gotta say cha junho and goo jungmo must have very dedicated core fans even if all they’re known for are visuals (for now).

i’ve adopted song hyungjoon so he is my one pick, but wei ziyue is just so endearing and jo seungyeon deserves to make it just so he can bring their talent average up. i wish nothing but the best for kim hyunbin and hangyul, though it doesn’t look like mnet favors them. i’m also getting sick of the tony push bc unlike the other redemption arcs and success stories, it just doesn’t look like he’s ready to be in any group, not just the X1_MA final lineup.

All of the trainees talking about how difficult The 7th Sense is made my Eunki stan heart happy.

I feel like Mnet is really shaping my favs compared with previous seasons. So I'm hoping for less heartbreaker since I seem to be stanning who their pushing.

it's so hillarious when all 5 trainess are complaining with cheol "baksu" as background LOL

and that makes me wondering, why they prefer akkinda so much over clap? is it because clap is harder to perform or is it because akkinda is basically the IT seventeen song that every trainee practices?

mingyu, go jung mo, cha junho are your typical park jihoon and bae jinyoung case. no screentime from mnet but they will make it thanks to their pretty face.

I was laughing so hard at that moment, too, because Im pretty much blind too without my glasses and all I see is a blob of colors, no shapes so I wouldn't have noticed any facial expressions either.

Clap has a lot more rap and less cutesy and I think most of the boys are vocalists and would like a cuter boy-next-door image since that tends to win P101 historically.

I agree with your prediction of the cute boys. I already know Mingyu will make it in despite his awkward dancing and poor vocals. Boy is so gangly he needs to grow a little bit more to control his limbs... but he's got the face and voters will vote for that. Same with last season's Minju and Hyewon.

also i wonder. seeing how wenhan was in A class and always the best member in his groups during QCYN, i wonder if his skill and seungyoun really is that far apart. or is it bc there's a lot more talented kid in produce compare to QCYN.

I just finished watching QCYN while waiting for this ep to air, and based on what they’ve show here the talent is definitely on the QCYN side. The trainee grading on QCYN was also a lot more fair. They were stricter with the initial evaluation, but they didn’t give out meaningless A’s or F’s just as a set up for future drama like X 101 judging panel did. I kinda wish there WAS more drama with QCYN lmao they were a little too straightforward sometimes, but I got attached to the trainees nonetheless.

On the other hand, LWH was a fan and judge favorite from the start. I wouldn’t go as far as saying he was the best vocal/dancer or that he was pushed by iQiyi, bc he didn’t need to be lmao, but he was always the most reliable member on his teams and his skills were never questioned. Both trainees and mentors flocked to him. Seungyeon is incredibly talented, but his audition wasn’t the most stable nor did Mnet decided to focus on him from the start. I think he and LWH just had a different start to each of their shows and his skills are finally being recognized.

hmm i can't say i agree that QCYN was more fair in grading tbh, i think i saw some complaint about it too, that the standard was all over the place, but at least their re-evaluation put everyone in their right places. This season with all the new rules and editing is far inferior compares to Idol Produce. I didn't really get attached with anyone :( (although that didn't stop me to vote lol) and i really had high hopes for this show bc Idol Produce was SO SO GOOOD ugh.

i wonder if it's also bc Seungyoun is now a VOCAL lol i'm surprised. perhaps he could've gotten better grades if he labeled himself as a rapper?? although actually, i never think Uniq as a super talented bunch tbh so... yeah, i agree with you, they should be on par talent wise.

Lol I had the exact opposite reaction to Idol Producer Season 1. I couldn’t even get into the show after the first ep, but looks like that’s just me. In retrospect, I’m glad I didn’t bc it’s not like the debut team is doing much together and U9 seems to be starting off on the right foot as a team. I agree with you about the changes to QCYN format, though. It definitely took a while to get used to.

All that to say, Seungyeon better rise to top 20 if not top 10 status. I’m conflicted about whether I want him to debut and get that recognition, or just get famous enough for his career after the show to take off. I’m still delusional about UNIQ getting back together and promoting as a group, RIP lol

i thought the same way about uniq popularity, but i'm glad i was proven wrong. seungyeon is really trending after love shot, so i'm optimistic for him! i know he was doing solo composing stuff, but his talents would be wasted if he doesn't make it. i know sungjoo/yixuan/yibo are joining the yuehua family concert(s?) and it looks like wenhan might too with u9, so semi-public uniq reunion!
