Happy Friday! Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we are going back 5 years to the 2nd week of May, 2014. The top three have been posted before, so this time we’ll see some live stages.


#3 15& “Can’t Hide It”
A nice, smooth R&B groove. If I’m not mistaken, there was never really any formal disbandment announcement from JYP, right? They just weren’t together anymore. And then Yerin left the company. This song would hit number 1, and I do prefer it over the other singles. It was a good vibe for them. Jimin isn’t the only “K-pop Star” winner on the charts this week.

#2 Apink “Mr. Chu”
I still scream along to the chorus idgaf lol. I love that chorus so so so much, and I think the song is fun. It’s cute and light, and exactly what I’m looking for on the days I need to frolic through the park. It’s usually on farmer market day because I always get pie. Pastries make me happy. Anywho. So much hand and finger choreography! Brb, going to find a ribbon to tie in my hair.

#1 Akdong Musician “200%”
The cutest of all the cute! “200%” was one of the three singles off of their debut album. This was my favorite, but everything about their debut was really solid. I love Suhyun’s voice so much. It’s so sweet and clear. Suhyun has kept busy in the hiatus by hosting radio and tv shows, and uploads regularly on her YouTube channel. Chanhyuk is enlisted in the Marines and should be out in the late summer, I think. So hopefully new music by the end of the year.

Honorable Mentions

#6 Park Hyo Shin “Wild Flower”
This is one of his biggest hits, probably his biggest? It stayed on the charts for years, and sold very well. It feels like one of those songs you put on at karaoke and sing/cry to. And that high note! It hurts so good! He just released a new album a few days ago on Monday, and the lead single topped the charts by Tuesday.

#8 Mad Clown featuring Hyolyn “Without You”
This is the single off of Mad Clown’s first album with Starship. He collaborates frequently with lots of different singers, and a good number of them from his company. For this song, he was joined by Hyolyn. His collab the year before with Hyolyn’s Sistar bandmate, Soyou, went to number 1. This one did well too.

Mr. Chu is truly a kpop classic. I remember when GOT7 did "Miss Chu" at one of the end-of-year gayos since they had a couple of genderswapped special stages (I believe Bestie also did Mamacita which was great too)
