Aron has been really quiet since the infamous "guys are better friends than girls sorry not sorry" incident and calling Seventeen the r word which leads me to think he learned his lesson and thinks more before he speaks.
I also think that it's one of the quieter reasons why he wasn't in Produce 101. Either Pledis or him decided for him to sit this one out as to not bring any bad press.
As Omona's only Aron stan, I think he's ok now but I side eyed him for a long time.
Baekho's the one with sexual Assaults allegations that were "dropped" so if you're looking for a reason not to stan, he's the one.
ohhh ok, I mean I know we all say stupid shit at times and I hope he's learned. Unless he's come out and contradicted his past remarks though it's kinda impossible to know whether he's actually grown and changed his mind or if he just keeps his sexism to himself now.
I forgot about Baekho, obviously that's worse but it's complicated to hold someone's behaviour in middle school (literally a child) against them forever as an adult, even if the behaviour was reprehensible and we don't know what actually happened.
Not gonna judge people who stan Nu-est, but also not gonna blame those who don't wanna give the benefit of the doubt.
I have mixed feelings on it, too. Obviously, it was deeply wrong. The victim was hurt.
At the same time, when they came forward and were believed, literally no one else had anything like that to contribute -and there were plenty of other things coming out at the time. It makes me think that he felt guilty/learned/changed. I want to see people grow, and that makes me feel like it’s possible that he did.
Either way, success 7 years after debut is a miracle.
ia, success after 7 years is amazing and good for them. And happy the other guys who aren't caught up in anything aren't punished alongside those that screw up too. Hope both Baekho and Aron grew up from this :)
It was just my two cent but I understand everyone not having it about Aron. He fucked up and not everyone is willing to forgive him and that's ok.
Baekho's case was extremely weird because of the timing (right after produce 101 finished) but he'll unfortunately always be branded in my mind as a maybe that's probably why my image of him soured a bit.
Ya it's possible to forgive but not really forget sometimes. It can always be a question mark and it's hard to navigate how much weight to judge one's actions with when they're so young (re: Baekho) or if it was such a long time ago (Baekho, Aron). I'm not a fan of the internet's Outrage Culture where it's seen as more "progressive" or issue-aware the harder you go on someone who's done something problematic: i.e. Writing someone off for life b/c of a mistake. There has to be a place for growth, rehabilitation and just mercy/grace.
Context really matters -how old were they, when did it occur, how serious was the offence, how remorseful were they, etc. I think a lot of it depends of how they act in response to their failings too.
I can't stand Chris Brown for example, but it's not just because of his Rihanna mistake in 2009, brutal as it was. If he had owned up, apologized repeatedly, worked to better himself, dealt with his anger issues, educate other men with domestic violence pasts about anger management/respecting women etc I'd look at him a lot differently than I do. He's always acted like the media victimized him more than he hurt Rihanna, as if he was the real victim. Was barely apologetic, continues to have major anger issues and seems violent. So it's a hard pass on him.
Seing them since debut, their story is really amazing. From being one of the most popular rookies, to hit rock bottom and then be one of the best selling boy groups is amazing tbh. I'm proud of their hard work!
