Happy Friday! I just returned to work this week after being MIA for almost a month. April was great for the fangirl me but so so bad at work. So I'm hoping that it will be a better May for me.

I just saw Pentagon's tour schedule. Sadly, no Philippines =( I might need to go out again just to see them. So I gotta save. I know they're doing ok but I really really want more people to see how amazing they are.

Went to BKK last month to watch BTS and it was worth it. I almost cried (I held if in!) thinking about seeing them here in our country when their concert ticket was just worth USD100 for VIP to triple the amount of their concert tickets now, how much the number of people watching their concert has grown, to what they've achieved and continue to achieve...its so WOW...I can't explain it. Even if traffic was so bad over there and that we had to walk from the stadium going back to the hotel..I'd do it all again just to watch them live again.

this week, surprisingly, i don't have anything to share but i wanted to say hi to you all anyway~

how old are you guys? i'm wondering, for those already around their 30s, how you guys are dealing with getting older? i'm having quite a hard time adjusting somehow, it's hard to look in the mirror and see how much older i'm looking, i have wrinkles and my hair is getting a little thinner than when i was like 10 or so, it's just noticeable and i now really get why people get botox and fillers. I won't do it, but i seriously have been thinking of cutting a fringe to hide some of my forehead wrinkles and i do love a forehead, so i guess that says a lot.

i feel like i'm starting to run out of time, and at the same time the idea of still having maybe another 50 years on this planet feels long. Does this make sense? I'm starting to get more and more afraid of losing my beloved ones now i'm getting older because they are getting older, too. Time is such a mindfuck in a way. It makes me so panicky.

It's all stuff i'm working on, but i am wondering how you guys feel about this, for those who are already a bit older?
i know it's a bit heavier topic than normally, but i've been meaning to ask you guys about this.

I'm very old, 39. I honestly don't know how to deal with getting older. I just let it be. I feel like I stopped at the age of 25 (mentally and emotionally but I am very much 39 physically hahahaha). I mean...look at me, the things I'm doing is for those who are in their 20s but since its making me happy, I just do it anyways. I'm married with 2 kids tho separated already (almost 8 years now) and my kids are with my hubby. I feel like its the reason why I am still just floating around not facing the reality that I am getting older.

About losing loved ones, I experienced that 2 years ago when I lost my father (he had a very short fight with the big C). It's the only thing about getting old that really bothers me.

Don't think like you're running out of time. Always remember that it's not always the same for everybody. Some reach their peaks early while for some, much later in their life. Just be happy, be thankful. If you can help other people, that would also be beautiful.

I didn't get the museum job I had interviewed for. I'm not super disappointed at not getting it, more devastated over the fact that I have to keep working my current job. I want to cut back to part time hours to save my sanity but then I'd lose my medical benefits.

My stepmom suggested I take medication to deal with the stress of customers and I was so offended. I can't even describe it.

I saw Dreamcatcher yesterday! It was my first kpop concert in a loooooong time (last one I went to was a 9 member snsd show sooooo), and I really loved it! The venue was really intimate which was nice, and the Japanese hardcore fans were really friendly, so I didn't feel too alone even though I was there by myself.

they were super high energy during talks (apart from Dami and Gahyeon but they more than made up for it with stage presence) and their performances were so cool!


also saw Detective Pikachu and Endgame (for the second time) today. Detective Pikachu was kinda disappointing to me as a huge fan of Pokemon movies, so I needed the rewatch of Endgame to cleanse my soul.

I had a bit of a panic moment last night in regards to housing and my parent's health. In my culture it's very normal to stay with your parents for a long time (until you're married, or even after that to take care of them) but I was really starting to feel as if I was a 'loser who lived with their parents' like so many people say. I also had a bit of a cry session over the fact that my parents are getting older (which is perfectly normal, but with my GAD ass there are times where I need 5 minutes to cry over it lol).

My parents have always wanted me to save my money and pursue my education first, and with the track that I'm going (undergrad, masters, med school) I won't actually be earning big money until my early 30's, which is something they're okay with. I have lived on my own before, and I work a job that I could theoretically work for the rest of my life if school fell through. They have never asked me to pay extra bills for the house and they always refuse when I offer. My parents and I get along well and I never feel ashamed about it at home, but when I meet other people I always feel like I'm carrying something shameful around with me.

It's been especially weird when I date people that aren't in a culture similar to mine and they just....don't get it. My current partner is Korean, so we share a lot of family values and views on parental respect all while still having jobs and earning money, but there have been times where I've dated white men and they were ALL (yup, all 3 of them) very weirded out by the fact that I live with my parents and still plan to take care of them even after I'm married.

Admittedly, living with my parents post-marriage seems a bit odd to me (though, being married seems a bit odd, honestly) but I would move in with my parents right now if they would just stop insisting on being country folk and retire to a city.

Do you boo. Everyone has something they think is shameful and are being judged on, but mostly we are all way to self-absorbed to actually expend that much energy judging anyone else. As long as you're not hurting someone, who cares?

Also, you still have time. By your early 30s you might want to live in a house down the block from your parents, or your parents might want to move into a small apartment nearby. There is time for life to evolve, no need to worry about stuff a decade out.

i saw a neurosurgeon a little over a month ago. dude said he would order me a CT scan and MRI, and that his staff would work on the prior authorization. i had been calling at least twice a week and leaving messages, and nobody ever called me back. that pissed me off so much that i decided i might as well just forget about that place, lmao.
i went to the ER this morning cause my back has just been unbearable lately, so they did a CT scan and said all my hardware looks fine and that my disc height is normal. on my way to meet my mom and brother for lunch, i got a voicemail from the neurosurgeon's office. 😐 asking if i had those tests done and i'm thinking "uhh no cause y'all haven't done anything!"
so i called back and said i just had a CT done at the ER, and that i'll have to go back at a later time to pick up the images and report. they're supposed to work on the prior authorization for the MRI, but i'm not holding my breath. they want me to come back after having it done too, which is kind of nuts cause the doctor already said he wouldn't touch me if i had to have any kind of surgery done.

the nurse practitioner at the ER did me a solid, though! printed out a bunch of spine specialists that apparently really take my insurance.

I was expecting people my age but I guess it makes sense since I'm out often during the day (I work from home a lot). I started a phd program this year after having a bad experience at my previous program. It's been rough because the professor whose lab I really wanted to join recently told me that because of funding, he can't take me. So after a week of drowning in my own misery, I've been phoning it in for the month, just kind of sad and a little checked out, but looking pretty normal on the outside. I've got other options but my heart was set on staying in this one research area, so much that it's almost synonymous with my name to people that know of me. There are other details that make the situation a little more 'tragic' but I'm going to omit them to make this shorter and a little less pathetic.

Basically, I oscillate between feeling hopeful and utterly hopeless but I'm doing a lot better now. I just need to kick myself in the butt and figure out what I want out of this degree, make some decisions and grit my teeth and bear with it.
