I.O.I is reportedly getting back together for a new round of promotions this year!

On April 29, Korean news outlet Ilgan Sports reported that according to multiple industry insiders, I.O.I has finally been confirmed for a six-month reunion in the second half of this year.

According to the new report, I.O.I will be attending KCON USA together as a group in August, and they are currently planning to release a new album in September. The group is also said to be preparing to hold a concert at the end of the year.

Unfortunately, Jeon Somi will reportedly be unable to participate in the upcoming reunion, as she is currently busy preparing for her solo debut under her new agency The Black Label.

Although there have previously been many rumors about the “Produce 101” project group reuniting, Ilgan Sports stated that it has not been easy for the agencies of all 11 members to come to an agreement about the details of a reunion, especially since the members have been busy with their own solo and group activities following the conclusion of their promotions with I.O.I in January 2017.

According to the report, it was primarily due to the strong bond between the I.O.I members, who have been vocal about their hopes for a reunion, that this six-month plan came to pass.

Omgggg I hope this comes true! it’s weird, I didn’t have any strong feelings about IOI for most of their run and then came their ‘miss me?’ mini winning me over and Very Very Very being a perfect comeback song. I suddenly cared about the group so much

Tbh I’d be fine with Somi not being included, she was one of the two members I didn’t really like as an idol much as the rest - that’s why I’m in no rush to see her debut tbh (the other member is a sweetie so I feel bad for thinking if she’d didnt participate I’d be fine lol 😬)

doesn't help that the are constantly selling mina & sejeong as gugudan though and just leaving the others to the side for a bit

i mean, look at wjsn, at first it was just Yeonjung and members, but now some of the others are SO on top that they may be even more well-known, i think starship did a great job closing the gap between the members to make them more equal and i think it worked out because they are doing well as a group

i always thought that bona and cheng xiao were the most popular members of wjsn in the early days, even with the addition of yeonjung. and now mei qi and xuan yi are off in china becoming literal royalty (go figure; i thought they'd always be in xiao's shadow.)
these days, i'm worried that china line will keep growing in china and never come back to wjsn.

oh really? cheng xiao for sure, but bona i never really felt in their early days
either way, i'm glad they are all doing quite well and also as a group, they are such cute girls, too skinny imo, but otherwise so cute and really pretty

i'm so sad about their china line though, i really really loved those girls in the group, i get why they promote in china i mean hello money, but still - i'm also thinking they will most likely never come back, it's kinda a Lay situation isn't it? so sad and really unfortunate

i didn't personally see the appeal of bona (she's pretty but not my "type") but apparently she was considered the top visual in the group right from the beginning. and yeah they need to eat more, just like pretty much every girl group. :(

i guess we'll see what happens with china line. rocket girls' contract is gonna expire eventually right? then we'll have to see if meixuan continue as soloists or come back to korea. from what i've seen, all the members actually do have a strong bond and they miss each other, so there may be hope.

i guess "pretty well" is a relative term haha. they seem to be doing better than pristin and gugudan, possibly also dia. so for a post-ioi act, they're doing ok? they haven't lost any members or come close to disbanding so by the standards of a girl group from a smaller company i'd call that impressive.

I didn't watch the show or follow the group closely (only listened to the music) but recently after looking at the girls I couldn't help but notice that Yoojung and Sejeong are two of the most beautiful girls on the planet. Their smiles make me so happy. I wish I followed them closer.
