Jeon Somi had been preparing to make her solo debut on May 1 under her current agency The Black Label. She parted ways with JYP Entertainment last August.

According to an industry source, her debut was postponed due to internal issues in her agency, and the anticipated date of her debut is now late May.

The source stated, “As far as I know, her debut was delayed due to several recent events. The decision was reached after also considering the quality of the album.”

afaik there was no official reason given but i have seen various speculations such as that she didn't want to be in a group, that she wanted to go solo or that she wanted to be in a group but got tired of waiting to debut again, etc.

leaving jyp by itself might not have been the worst decision ever but joining black label aka yg was a huge step back

According to rumours, the good sis got in some trouble or her stage father became too overbearing and JYPE terminated her contract. I mean fans spotted her with the Itzy members several times. The last time just a few weeks before she left JYPE. Somi also had an artist contract not a trainee contract, the latter one can be easily terminated whereas the former one can't be terminated so quickly.

i actually think it's good that somi and daniel were able to leave their companies; that's not easy in kpop, even if we don't know everything that went on behind the scenes. i hope wonyoung won't be stuck at starship if she ends up wanting to leave.

Well, I agree with your sentiment. But Daniel is in some serious trouble. According to some rumours and pann posts, he is in some deep shit. In the worst case, he's got a sponsor who's connected to Seungri. In the best case, he just got unlucky and shouldn't have signed with LM in the first place.

I mean, at this point I don't feel sorry for anyone signing with YG. This company has been shit for over a decade, if you're signing with them hoping for a bright career and regular promos you're truly dumb. BP are only doing so well right now because their american promos are handled by Interscope.

Right ... their track record has been really shit and in the end it's better to sign with a smaller company where you'll actually get to work and perform than with YG where you will maybe get one comeback per year ... maybe.
