Oh no, I hope you're feeling better btw ❤️

I really enjoy these posts so thank you for making them

At first I was too lazy to discuss and theorise which I regret because it would've been nice to go back and see what i thought at the start in comparison to now but alas laziness is the bane of my life 😒

i die at the actor who plays seongmo using this like... villain/bad guy voice as soon as he has become a potentially bad guy. and yes, the acting is definitely not holding up under the increased emotional and dramatic content of the show.

i guess if they offered seongmo's mom any protection she probably wouldnt even accept it anyways, since he's looking after her now. plus she's supposed to like not trust the police - understandable since they just let him escape lmao

the alexithymia thing makes no sense at all lol. also the inability to feel pain (physically) is like a really big deal and you can't go around leading a normal life. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congenital_insensitivity_to_pain) why is he being treated with OCD medication anyways lol

best part of this week: sungmo's dad (literally) walking into that trap and getting his leg stuck
worst part of this week: jisoo dying

for a second i was like, did i even watch this week's episodes? lmao because i watched them so early (right after subs were available) so it already feels like a lifetime since i've seen them. anyway. i absolutely hate them for killing off jisoo. not only because she was such a refreshing and honest character among total weirdos like sungmo, but also because it was so unecessary i feel like? was there a purpose to her death? all it has done so far is inflict more pain on lee ahn who already suffers so much so fuck them

idk. i've had a lot of thoughts while watching but jisoo dying pissed me off so much, i don't even want to talk about anything!!!! i know sungmo is getting his redemption arc but whatever. fuck him too. i only care about ahn and jaein from now on. i'm a little sad we didn't get much cuteness from them this week but yeah. they still quietly support and motivate each other in small moments, i enjoy that a lot. they're a good couple! jinyoung and yeeun are good actors too. i was thinking back to a couple of the earliest episodes and it's amazing how much they have improved! maybe that's just me but i find them much more natural and just, you know, good? i don't even cringe anymore lmao. jinyoung is a scarily good fake-crier lmfaooo oh my god i was like, please... i know this isn't real but... please... stop crying omg i actually did tear up quite a bit this week in the whole aftermath of jisoo's death :')

kinda crazy that jinyoung is still filming even though it's literally about to end but i was told that's how k-drama filming usually goes...... damn. on the one hand i'm gonna be sad once it's really over but on the other hand i'm ready for him to finish and go back to got7 again :') two episodes left!

lmao yes her dad can go to hell, seriously!!! sungmo idk i mean he's right when he says that ahn's readings are not legally binding and i know somehow he's gonna find a way to /not/ end up in prison lmao but i hate his ass! he did too little in my eyes for him to be forgiven. idk what he's gonna try to pull in the last two episodes but yeah. i'm not sure how he's ever gonna make it up to ahn even if he does end up walking away a free man.

(also i hope you get well soon!!)

don't hold your breath, they're probably all gonna forgive him! lmao but yeah i totally agree with you, they should not. at least not like, immediately. what if they have another time skip? i could totally see sungmo and ahn going separate ways now, sungmo to live with his mother somewhere and ahn and jaein settling down or something. or like fighting crime together! ah there is so much to solve and see, i hope they can make it all work in two episodes!!!

I'M SO FUCKING PISSED OFF THAT THEY KILLED OFF ONE OF THE BEST AND MOST FAVOURITE CHARACTERS. WHAT THE FUCK

Seungmo's ANDWE was really funny tho. Idk I don't really like him anymore
AND BITCH IF HE KILLED THOSE WOMEN AND SET THE FIRE THEN I'D BE RIGHT AHAHAAHAHAHAAH

I don't wanna hate him but he's been such AN ASS AND NONE OF THIS WOULD'VE FUCKING HAPPENED IF HE TRUSTED THE PEOPLE AROUND HIM PROPERLY AND DIDN'T GIVE THEM STUPID CLUES AND PUZZLES TO SOLVE. HE'S SO ANNYING

Geun-taek stepping into the bear trap was hilarious. like how did he not walk into it when he was coming in???? so dumb but great

anyway I cried loads of Jisoo. such bullshit. seungmo can go fuck himself, idc if they try and redeem him but I hope to god they don't. sorry ahn

I DON'T WANT THIS TO END. In that I want to know everything now and I was Seungmo to go away but what will I do without this???? I won't have anything to look forward. NEED Jinyoung to act in something again soon ;~;

Ikr! Is it the actor? The character? The constant personality 180 that we must suffer through? All of it? Who knows!!!

Urgh I miss Jisoo sfm 😭😭😭😭😭 she was the best why couldn't they kill someone else off. Or better yet not dsjsnsnsnsns.

Redemption arc will def happen I think, I just remembered that scene at Jisoo's grave sndjjsksmdmdmdmsns I hate it all

YESSS I look forward to seeing more yeeun too. And Dasom too ❤️❤️
I honestly can't wait for a boxset to come out. I'm definitely getting it even if it is region 3 or w/e 😭 😂

Honestly though, I didn't expect jinyoung's acting skills to be this good! I guess he's a perfectionist but still damn. Lee Ahn suits him perfectly so I guess that helps. I look forward to seeing him acting different types of characters~

i watched the last four episodes over the last few days and PHEW! IT WAS A DOOZY!

kay at first they were totally setting it up as though seongmo set the apartment fire and then they did a 180 and made it seem as if he didn't. wtf. i feel like it will turn out that he didn't.

honestly i have been doing my darndest but i'm starting to not follow what's going on in a lot of scenes lol.

obviously i'm upset about jisoo, i even teared up lol. i didn't think they were gonna go there BUT THEY DID

the bear traps are so random, sorry for all these separate comments OP lol

lmao your comments kill me but you're so right... the bear traps especially when jisoo followed sungmo to that abandoned train station i was SO scared she was gonna walk into one of them but then it turns out they somehow disappeared after that fight between sungmo and his dad lol i was like hmmmm weird who took them away but also!!! yay jisoo did not get hurt (at least not because of the traps............. lol)

ah but also i like the irony of sungmo setting them up later again and for his dad to walk right into one lol

i find it really interesting that in the world of the show, people don't really acknowledge that kang geuntaek is seongmo's father. like obviously everyone knows it's a fact, but obviously the creators of the show wanted to avoid making viewers think about the fact that he raped seongmo's mom.

Date: 2019-04-28 06:11 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] daynr.livejournal.com
Yeah, as far as we know only the father-son have actually acknowledged it. I assume it's bc the mother/son talk about him as if he's just a random stalker monster. But in the context of how Korean things usually present family ties, especially father-son, it is really interesting.

fuck omg last comment, but i just keep thinking about seongmo putting those post-it notes up on the mirror like "chains" and "basement," as if he needs to be reminded that he spent the first nine years of his life chained up in a basement.

Deserves all the snarking, honestly.

I'm struggling to connect a bit with this show, I think because tonally it's a bit odd? We have these very dark things happening, but we also have bouncy puppies puppying around and finding dead bodies, etc. etc. I mean, we have glib child abuse, non-glib child abuse, single motherhood, child imprisonment, rape, captivity, pretty puppies, idiots who can't read, manipulation, sweet kisses, kidnapping, murder, corruption, more corruption, etc. And these kids are just bouncing from one trauma to happy moment. (Though less in most recent two episodes.)

The constant movement and tone shifts mean I don't really buy the characters feelings; how can I find Jaein's kidnapping as horrific as it is if two days later she's traipsing into a ghost station with her dopey (ninja) boyfriend for backup? Even more, how do I find her intelligent? So far the only people really selling the dark side are Hyung & his mom/dad.

And, wow, terrible people. Hyung is going to have a hard time justifying adding more trauma to people who were also traumatized as kids. I know they're all messed up, but to do terrible things and be redeemable you need an imperative purpose, which ...

I will say Jinyoung is better than I expected. I was not impressed by him in Dream Knight but his eyes really can emote. If he received training, direction, and practice, I think he could end up quite good. I hope he does get it.

I don't think it ever worked very well, maybe it's a problem of telling and not showing? At least with the angst, the tell. They did spend time showing the puppy in the beginning, which is probably why it worked more.

But a lot just isn't executed well, which is the non-acting job. Lee ahn's skills aren't presented well, his fighting skills are ridiculous, the pacing, the editing, the writing, any reason to really like seongmo. It's just a really ambitious story with loads of elements and lots of it isn't delivering.

What is working is at least it moves quickly, it's fast paced, the romantic lead are fun and likeable enough, and our deceased jisoo, the morgue doc, and ji son's questionable second, all interacting with our baby leads.

I'm ?!?! at the death. like why would you want this to happen. there I was thinking throughout the episodes that it was a fake death, till the scene at the morgue. argh.

i'm so lost at the plot now. why do k-dramas like to leave everything to the last few episodes?! and hmm at the sudden love Sungmo feels for Jisoo though, like we could have more scenes on that

Date: 2019-04-27 10:07 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] yuujinchous.livejournal.com
same i was kinda hoping still that ahn would maybe get a call from someone saying that she survived but then they cut to the morgue and i was like... holy shit

yah we totally should have gotten more scenes between sungmo and jisoo when she was still alive because even if he didn't like her romantically, their friendship was kinda cute (despite jisoo putting in most of the emotional labor but what else is new) and they should have extended on that... if only to make it more believable that sungmo actually cares about jisoo post-death

Date: 2019-04-28 06:17 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] daynr.livejournal.com
Yeah, he maybe should have cared enough when she was alive to be a semi decent friend, instead of a remote condescending prick.
