Best movie seen in 2019: Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. I know it was released in the US in December 2018, but it only started playing in my country in January 2019, so...anyway, I loved this film, visually stunning with absolutely innovative animation, great story, great character building - actually made me care about the idea of Spider-Man again. And also, great soundtrack.

Worst movie seen in 2019: Captain Marvel. I really wanted to like this film, so that I could definitively say the pre-release sexist backlash was undeserved, but the movie didn't do itself any favours; it was badly paced, had a decent story/message that was not very well executed, kept jumping from scene to scene, TOO DARK - I couldn't see shit, had unnecessary references and battle set pieces, retconned Nick Fury's character in a very noticeable way, and didn't do much to make me care about any of these people.

(( As a side note, PLEASE DON'T START SPOILING ENDGAME YET I'M WATCHING IT THIS SUNDAY /cries. ))

I enjoyed Captain Marvel but it felt kinda rushed and didn't give me the wow effect I expected. I wanted them to take their time a little more in order to give me all the puzzle piece and let me connect more with the characters.
I think I read too many positive review and thus was let down.

Same thing happened with Wonder Woman. People were raving about it and I ended up being nice but not the explosion of feels I wanted. I should stop reading review or talking with people altogether before seeing a movie tbh XD

I felt Captain Marvel was just a filler for them to introduce her in Endgame, which kinda makes the movie a non-event. if it were released 1-2 years ago, it might have been better for the movie/character

Right after I decide to start checking out more kpop artists my trip to go see Muse in the summer has been finalized, so I'll just immerse myself in their new album instead.
I'm probably going to be on the worst day of my period (i thought I wouldn't be, but apparently I will, and it's like I'm slaughtering a whole village) so being like that in a huge open air concert in a park will be... interesting. Actually, as long as I won't get my monthly migraine attack on that night I'll be fine.

Has anyone had any luck delaying their period by drinking lemonade or apple cider btw? I just bought several bottles lol

After a grueling spring term, I learned I made it onto my uni's president's honour roll this term!!! I managed to pull a 4.1/4.33 GPA with 5 courses (including biostatistics and virology, both of which i'm awful at) and I think i deserve to treat myself this weekend :')

We just got hit by 4 earthquakes today. That's 11 earthquakes in the Philippines this week as of today. All different areas ofc but just :/ Everyone here in the Philippines needs to take a second and breathe tbh, and the insensitive "jokes" on social media are upsetting enough as it is :/

On another note, I've always appreciated Namjoon's looks and style, but Namjoon in suits just give me so much life. I know Jungkook fill out the suits best but Namjoon's proportions heighten his whole look for me tbh his legs my god. That and his charisma like sis I'm a Taehyung stan but my eyes always immediately zoom in to Namjoon in group shots lmao. I especially loved the suits he was wearing during the Grammys and The Fact Awards. Petition to make Jay Baek Couture as Namjoon's official dresser tbh.

Last day at my current work, can't wait for this evening!
The interview I had last week went well! I'm going back for a second interview (with higher-ups this time) in two weeks (only one out of three people interviewed for the first round) and am expecting to start working with them really soon. It's a relief. I've asked for a higher salary also haha.
If last week was awful, this one cancelled it. I unexpectedly saw friends last weekend (last minute picnic) then joined another group of friends to a restaurent ; I thought I was brought in once but turns out they're doing this meet-up once a month and I'm in the group now :') things are going well.

I've played Twice's new mini album SO MUCH this week, I'm hooked.

I know 'Cat and Dog' is weird but so was EXO's 'Wolf' and 'Ring Ding Dong'!

IDK it reminds me of that very awkward teenage boy style of wooing - it definitely sounds like something a teen would say or feel sounds romantic but doesn't - and that's another reason why I like it as it feels age appropriate in that way LOL. (And on a personal note connection my baby brother used to pretend fo be a dog sometimes when he was little so it reminds me of him)

I also feel like bighit is testing/experimenting the group's charisma by even giving them a song like this. Like 'How much can their natural charm and earnestness sell something strange?' you know? It's their 'Boy in Luv' or 'War of Hormone' but in a much sweeter/more innocent way.

thanks for all your replies to my little nature and animals story last week! it's good to see that other people also like this

so to continue, this week i discovered a new butterfly~ the orange-tip (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthocharis_cardamines - if you are interested to see). I read that it's a true sign of spring and it's usually first spotted around king's day here in the netherlands (which is tomorrow), i saw it 3 days ago and it made me happy~ i downloaded a sort of butterfly guide from the butterfly association thing and it's been fun to learn which butterflies i have seen.

I also FINALLY know what little birds me and my mom have been spotting for the past 2 weeks, it's an Eurasian siskin and it's super cute~ they fly really fast and they barely sit still so it's really hard to spot them properly.

I have also been able to pet sheep and lambs because the farmer nearby has them outside and sometimes sheep are very scared but these are used to humans and it's so cute, they actually enjoy it when you pet them (especially if you bring grass lol). The little lambs are so cute ♥

Otherwise, not much happened. So i'll ask you guys a question, just to chat a bit because i don't watch movies so i can't answer OP's FFA question;

I'm sick with spring flu, blergh. Luckily I can work from home so I don't have to drag myself to the office... except today but it turned out to be a good idea bc there's free ice cream and mud cake here.

I have an on-going list on my twitter of the movies I've seen this year (coupled with the film poster to make it look more interesting), and I'mma try if I can see 100 movies this year. Last year my list got up to 82 movies, for some reason I can have long periods where I don't feel like watching anything but during holidays and certain times (like now when I was sick) I can binge watch several movies in a day.

I saw SF9 this week! I went in with middling expectations, and was really impressed. I ended up liking (almost) everyone. Inseong moderated the whole concert himself and translated when necessary. Their rap line is underrated, and doesn’t get to really show how good they are in their songs. I noticed that they aren’t the most smile-y group haha but were pretty fun/interactive. After the show, I definitely lean most towards Taeyang/Inseong.
LA people - they’re in LA tonight! Go see them!

Least favorite movie... I just watched The New Romantic on Netflix and it was pretty terrible. I thought it would be about a college student learning about herself, but it turned out to be about an unhealthy sugar daddy-baby relationship.

Favorite movie... I don’t know if it was my favorite, but I really enjoyed Shazam! Really funny, a few good twists, well timed, etc.

Their rap line is underrated, and doesn’t get to really show how good they are in their songs.
I feel the same about their vocalists after watching their acoustic medley released this week. They need to step up their non-title tracks because there's potential there across the board.

I watched Avengers: Endgame last night and I really enjoyed it, but it also completely ruined me emotionally. I cried 3 times and I honestly didn't expect this from a superhero movie. I knew I'd be sad, because of some things and because it's the end of an era, but gdi, some scenes hit me really hard. I even started crying again back home while talking to my parents about a specific scene.

it's a great week, with Twice releasing a bop (and album), Endgame finally coming out, and just me getting a break in general haha.

no plans to watch Endgame till May because all the good seats are taken (and I didn't want to pay for the premium seats package), and I can't wait to watch it. it's also been hard trying to stop myself from reading spoilers, but I'm so glad that my social media isn't too filled with spoilers. I remember when Infinity War was released last year (during my birthday yipee), it was filled with spoilers all over (and those "think they are funny" memes with no context spoilers).

Toilet finally got arrested. Idc if it's for drugs. He needs to be locked up. I'm struggling to not resent someone like blackpink for their hype. This week we got good & bad stuff, and I'm pissed I'm charmed by anything related to YG. I am sure the girls are blameless and doing their best and working hard, but it seems like it so much luck and YG getting an undeserved reward. Why them and not women I perceive as having earned it more (more actual songs at least)? Or for a less bleck company? But, again, is it really fair to resent the girls' success? No. I dislike complications in my pop entertainment.

It is a really tough thing to separate. I felt that way when BP first debuted, and I really believed all the nasty stuff that was said about them. But I had to really have a conversation with myself about how unfair and problematic that was, and that in an industry like kpop, it's really dangerous to make claims about who deserves something versus who doesn't.

Something that helped me with removing the negativity I had for BP was watching blackpink house and other snippets of them outside of music or being cute to fans. That was what won me over! I don't buy any of their merchandise or music and I don't really like their music to begin with (therefore I don't end up supporting YG financially) but I enjoy them as entertaining and sweet people. I think it might be a little easier for me because they are my age and their personalities reflect the people I have in my friend groups, but it's worth a shot :)

the group show I've been planning for a month happens next week! I'm so glad it's almost done because it was a lot of work and I just hope some pieces sell or at least some new client work comes in.

movie related - I'm trying to clear out my netflix queue so I've been watching more stuff before bed. Last night I watched both Eighth Grade and Lady Bird and Lady Bird was good but Eighth Grade I ended up fastforwarding through most of it. I don't think it worked as a movie tbh and The Kindergarten Teacher was good too I was expecting it to go in another direction but liked where it ended up.

work is stressing me. Everyone needs something RIGHT NOW. Like staff need help with their stuff, director needs me to do a project for him, client needs me to look at something and confirm if we still need it this year, and my recruiting team had an event this week and want me help with office visits. And at the same time I haven't looked at the work I'm responsible for in 2 weeks trying to do everyone else's requests. No wonder I'm a good 2 weeks behind...

I'm only happy for the weekend so I can work quietly without everyone bugging me.

I feel you so much on this! I'm no supervisor but somehow everyone (even my boss) is asking me to review their work or random questions that take up so much of my time that I'm always behind! I usually do overtime so that I can just work peacefully. I love helping out, but can't they learn to be a bit more independent?

Just found out that BTS' Danger has entered the top 200 on US iTunes. An old song. Without any promotion at all.

That should send a message to BH about what they could try to do to get more airplay in the West. It's actually the first BTS song I liked. And it'd be really interesting to look at the demographics of those buying, esp. the gender ratio.
