i had some bún nem earlier this week. my mother is taunting me from continents away with pictures of her homemade bánh cuốn. i've bought all the ingredients to make bánh đúc nóng but with the current assignment schedule i only have time to eat sad sad instant noodles (sprinkled with frozen chopped spring onions for fancy and my own tears for spice)
Banh xeo, banh ganh, thit heo quay in rice paper rolls, banh khot (but only like, once a year, my arteries can't handle more than that). This awesome congee that my Aunty makes with that fish you can only get in Vietnam? Goi ga (with the...running chicken? Idk Mum says that's what it's called), thit kho and of course Pho. It's always my first meal when I get back from overseas.
I love banh beo and suong sa hat luu <333333333333333. Our Vietnamese grocery store used to have suong sa hat luu, but whoever made it doesn't make it anymore because I never see it at the store now. I am so saddddddddddddddddd. There's another place that sells it but it's not as good. Sigh.

I like some good fresh spring rolls, Vietnamese sandwich, and pho. Rice dishes are good too. There's this dish at my favorite local Vietnamese restaurant which is white rice with stir-fried dory fish fillet and salad, I'm not sure what the original name is but it translates to "rice with five-flavored fish" and it's sooo good.
