Hello Venus' contracts are almost up & they may or may not disband

Fantagio has released an official response to reports of Hello Venus’s disbandment.

On April 18, a Korean news outlet reported that Hello Venus, whose members’ contracts are up for renewal this May, had begun preparing for their disbandment.

Later that day, however, Hello Venus’s agency Fantagio denied the reports, stating, “Nothing has been decided in regards to disbandment. We are currently in the process of discussing the possibility of renewing [the members’] contracts.”

Hello Venus, who first debuted in 2012 with the mini album “VENUS,” most recently made a comeback in 2017 with the title track “Mysterious.” Member Nara is currently starring in the hit KBS drama “Doctor Prisoner.”

I don't follow them closely. I remember their debut was sweet and then years later they dropped Wiggle Wiggle (still a freaking jam). I'm guessing a few will leave and they may try to make a group with 3 of them or so.

But I'm like you, I would rather they disband and have a proper end than an ambiguous mystery end a la f(x), after school, and pristin.

they debuted during the time when there was complete oversaturation. EVERYONE was putting out a group and some just got lost in the mix. It's unfortunate because a lot of the groups put out solid bops and were great but there was just way too many.

I'm so sad :C I don't want them to stay w Fantagio 'cuz they're not appreciated there, but I really want them to stay together :C
But maybe now Lime and Yoonjo can do smth together? I know Nara will be fine but like :C Ugh this sucks

they're one of the few groups i could actually see staying together under another agency. they really seem to have a bond.
although... seoyoung and yeoreum joined in 2014, so i wonder if their contracts are also coming up or it's just the other 4.
if they don't disband, i'm guessing they'll end up as "disbanded but not really" like dal shabet or t-ara.

t-ara members are under different companies now, and they said they might still have group activities in the future but I'm not sure how that's gonna work. I don't think I've seen a group continue after going to different companies like that. (look at snsd, they're "still together" as 8 but all they've done is a subunit made up of all the members that are still in sm.)
t-ara did have a legal battle with mbk over the trademark of their group name though, so who knows, maybe they are serious about coming back as a group.

oh i see. thank you for that information! maybe they are serious about it if they had a legal battle about the name as you said. i'd love to see them perform together again. i'm glad they got to leave mbk though. that company is one of the most toxic ones out there

Isn't Brown Eyed Girls all under different companies? Or am I mistaken? I think they might be the only example of a group that split into different companies but still have group activities.

nope, they all left their old company and joined mystic ent. they're one of the only groups that i could actually see staying together regardless of different labels, but it would be up to the labels themselves to work together, and korean entertainment companies seem to be really bad at doing that.

My mistake. I don't know why I have the idea that the ladies went to different labels for solo activities but still performed together as BEG. I must be thinking of some other group or making it all up in my head. My bad.

I too hope that fantagio will say that they have disbanded, and perhaps they can do a rainbow and continue to post friendship updates.

lime and alice will probably continue doing music, just hoping that they can find somewhere to continue making music! Nara will probably have nothing to worry, and might even stay at fantagio because of the acting part. Yooyoung might be able to carve out something, like continuing to act, since she was supposedly popular at one point in time. as for the other 2, I'm not too sure because Fantagio doesn't seem to push them as much as the OG members

well, wm are at least active and having comebacks for now. seoyoung & yeoreum only had 4 comebacks in all of their years with hv, while wm have already had 3. but they may end up dropped like hv at some point, I wouldn't be surprised. :(

All my favorite girl groups are disbanding/disbanded. Very sad moment that they might disband too.
