Veteran actor Lee Soon Jae talked about recent events in the entertainment industry.

On the April 11 episode of “Happy Together,” Lee Soon Jae, Shin Goo, Chae Soo Bin, and Kim Sung Eun were guests with IZ*ONE’s Jang Won Young and Kim Min Ju as the special MCs.

During the show, Lee Soon Jae said that there is something he wants to tell his junior celebrities. He started, “Popularity follows celebrities. In the past, popularity didn’t make a lot of money. Shin Goo and I have acted for a long time, but we don’t own a single building. However, that is not the case these days. It is profitable. Even if you film one advertisement, you make a lot of money.”

He continued “We are not formal public figures according to societal standards, but we hold the responsibility of public figure because all of our actions can influence the audience and youth.”

Lee Soon Jae concluded, “The legal judgment will be made, but I think they have the wrong mindsets. I see them as people who should drop out on their own. It is most important to manage yourself when your popularity rises.”

I agree, whether they want it or not, idols/celebs that become popular have so much influence over young people who are malleable and forming their identity. :/

Ironically they are named 'idols' when so many shouldn't be someone to admire. :P

At least the biggest group, BTS and their company, seem to really think about their influence. They've done some shit, but they do seem to try to learn from it. Unlike another company coughYGcough.

Idols above all other celebrities are expected to be made in a certain mould. When people break that mould it should be for greater things and not because they turn out like Seungri.
He’s right about how they have no morality or they would’ve admitted quietly to their wrong doings rather than cosplaying as the victim.

The whole idol package is ridiculous. I get where it stems from, no one wants to learn your favourite is trash but it's bound to be a responsibility when you appeal to younger audiences. The perfect image (i.e. the no dating, etc) is ridiculous but not being a shit stain should be a responsibility everyone should carry.
