I honestly don't get it. I thought 127 was supposed to promote in Seoul cuz that's Seoul's longitude or whatever, but now they're promoting in Japan and the US when they're the worst of the main 3 subunits. Idk enough about WayV yet to know if they're better or not.
127 talked about how they want to spread out kpop music to the world before but i didn't think they would focus on two markets at the same time. i like wayv's performance of regular better. they seem more cohesive and coordinated on stage plus ten gets to be in the center for their performances so that's a plus. too bad they've only performed like two times on stage since debut :/ i miss nct u too
I think the intention of 127 was always to be the "global" unit just starting in seoul and spreading outward.
They better start promoting dream soon given that they're about to lose 4 members in 8 months. and then what's going to happen with Jaemin and Jeno after they graduate? I was hoping SM wouldn't drop the ball on wayv and so far im disappointed but not surprised that they're doing virtually nothing (which saddens me bc ten is my luv)
yeah I'm not sure how dream is supposed to operate. they can't keep graduating members every 2-3 years because otherwise 127 and wayv would have too many members. maybe they'll create a whole new unit for them. i think sm got way ahead of themselves and now they don't know how to basically manage three groups at the same time. they're doing ok with giving lucas and win win a decent amount of solo activities but there is practically nothing for the other members. ten is my favorite too and it makes me sad because he was born to be on the stage performing. i heard sm rejected cf opportunities for him in thailand too. like wth? i know china doesn't have weekly music shows but at least have them do live streams or appear on web shows, get them a web reality show or something. they could even do some showcases in a couple of chinese cities. apparently there was a ticket service asking what cities people could come to if the showcases took place but nothing came of that and now apparently wayv will have their "official debut" later this year, like how can you take back the fact they already debuted like psyche that was just pre-debut. it all seems so poorly planned. maybe they'll at least get an original title track. sorry for the rant but i have a lot of feelings about this
Dont worry about ranting because I've got many words when it comes to nct 127 is supposed to be a "permanent" unit so i dont think their intention is to add jaemin and jeno to it when they graduate Dream. So SM is literally going to have to debut a new unit for them to be in although the only intention they have right now is to debut an european nct unit. (Yall can even manage the units u have now can u not). And i dont want Renjun and Chenle to graduate dream and be shipped off to wayV and never be seen again they're too funny for that to happen. Im happy for the opporunities that lucas and winwin have been getting. Sad for winwin because he'll probably never promote with 127 again (im going to see them at their toronto show so i shall miss you winwin). Their "pre-debut" was sad. They really deserve better as a unit. I cant even be surprised how bad their doing with wayV when SM also did a crappy job with Exo-M, and we know how that turned out. Ten [albeit im biased bc he's the reason i got into nct] is literally made to be a star so i think sm is really dropping the ball when it comes to him.
127 was "permanent" before they added Doyoung and Johnny and "permanent" before they added Jungwoo so I don't think anything is fixed. They can always disclaim any changes by saying that NCT's concept is limitless.mp3
yep definitely why i said "permanent" sm makes absolutely no sense when it comes to NCT's concept lol (although i genuinely don't think they'll add jaemin or jeno to 127). be consistent sm
Even though they added mark and haechan to 127 that makes sense that they can’t keep adding members forever so they would have to create a whole new unit for them but then what market would they target? Really? I thought they were going to have NCT indonesia or was that just a rumor? I also thought NCT japan would be in the works but i don’t know if it’s still happening. I don’t know how they will target the european market. They can’t even handle the chinese market right now. It just seems like a mess. I wish they didn’t do this whole units concept in the first place. Maybe have them occasionally do it but not split up all the time. Also it’s just kind of awkward like they’re not acknowledging that Winwin was ever a part of 127 except for a couple of members and Sm didn’t release an official statement of him not being a 127 member anymore so winwin stans feel like they’re in limbo and i feel bad for them bc of the uncertainty when other members have been in multiple units before. renjun and chenle don't deserve that but i remember renjun talking about wanting to promote in china so hopefully this official debut for wayv will make up for whatever they did before and they can be a part of an actually promoting wayv. I think SM learned a little from exo-m because they’re letting the currently most popular members do solo schedules right now but with exo-m if i remember correctly they kept rejecting opportunities for luhan and kris but still they're not allowing the other members to grow their fanbases so they can become more popular :/ You’re good! Sm’s management is just so frustrating. No wonder their number 2 in terms of the amount of employee turnover rate
A representative from SM at SWSX 2019 said that SM was planning a "second girl's generation with all americans and a 2nd nct with all europeans" so that's what I'm going off of.
I think the concept of NCT being infinitely growing is super lazy on SMs part because they can essentially never debut a new boy group again and ride off of the fanbase that NCT as a whole has built themselves. I just don't see how it will be sustainable in the long run without fans being upset that they're faves are doing nothing since there will be 1000000 members.
Realistically, winwin unfortunately can't do both 127 and wayV at the same time so I'm understanding of him being absent. Being in WayV has benefitted his career so i'm happy for him but SM is handling this terribly. I'd honestly be shocked if SM were to release a statement saying that winwin is no longer in 127. I'm too invested in some of these boys to give up but it's very frustrating to be a fan of them
no sm! what are you doing?? i don't think sm idols even really fit the US market image wise, maybe europe could work especially since they work with a lot of swedish producers but i don't know about the states. like sm is giving nct more freedom than when they debuted exo but they're still so media trained and pg. i tried to watch some 127 appearances in the states and it all just sounds so rehearsed and stilted. johnny tried to make them seem more personable but with other kpop groups like monsta x and got7 they seem a little more open and laid-back, and i found their interviews to be much more enjoyable
i didn't even think about that but it is lazy especially since sm is going to have separate fanclub names for the different units anyway so they basically are different boy groups. a lot of people are already turned off by the concept of nct and find it too confusing to even start stanning them. for the most part people will end up being fans of one unit and i don't blame them. 21 is a lot of people
seriously. they already retconned their debut so i've given up on them giving a statement on win win's situation
yeah i'm too invested too. ten just had to go on that hit the stage show lol. i wish he could release more solo stuff too. i loved dream in a dream
You were converted into an NCT fan because of Ten on hit the stage too?!???? I think that if SM does right by Ten he could have a Taemin-esque career
A lot of NCT are so awkward when they're in a formal environment and have to be clean and polished. They're much more enjoyable when they're doing their Vlives (they're vlives from last year have got to be some of the funniest things they've ever done) where they can just be as much as themselves as appropriate. All interviews of kpop groups in the west generally make me cringe so i try to avoid it at all costs lol
Yes! I think he has enough stage presence to be solo even though i like the other wayv members too.
Yeah they're definitely better on vlives and definitely have more freedom than exo did when they were at that stage of their career but in interviews it's like they're reading from a script that sm made them memorize. i saw interviews that 127 did before and then other groups talking to the same interviewers and going on the same shows and the rapport was still better like they felt more natural in interacting with the host and with fans. even monsta x who has one person that can speak english still felt more natural while 127 seemed like deers in headlights. maybe monsta x have done a lot more US interviews that i don't know about so they have more experience? idk
both wayv and dream are releasing new music soon, they’ve all changed their hair colour just recently.
it has taken sm this long to establish 127 and i guess it’s just easier for them to promote in japan rather than create a japanese unit from scratch. i’m guessing that they haven’t found the right members yet for the japan unit or it’s just not a priority for them anymore as 127 are doing quite well there.
ahh yes the first full japanese album... ie half new songs half previously released songs. love it. i'm also in the confusion boat as to why 127 is promoting so avidly in japan
They picked a lot of parts with Yuta and even Johnny singing. I'm most interested in Lips.
It seems to me that SM wants them to target the Japan and US markets quickly without having to spend the effort and time to create local units and just relying on the Japanese member & the English speakers in the group for now.
For Japan I wonder if/when SM will have enough Japanese trainees to form an actual local unit (they seem to always have more Chinese, at least the ones revealed), and if Yuta will be rotated out of 127 to that unit once it happens the way Winwin was moved to WayV.
I'm still perplexed about why the Korean version of "Cherry Bomb" is on this instead of the English version that showed up on the iTunes Up Next Session.
Instead of all of the Korean versions showing up on here, I would much rather have had "100", "Come Back" and "Dreaming" made an appearance instead, but I understand they're still trying to move units of Chain.
Regardless of all that, I'm still excited about this album. The only snippet I wasn't entirely feeling was "Long Slow Distance".
Also, the designs are... a choice, but that's what happens when you're with Avex.
