Super Junior fans ask for clarification about rumours surrounding Kangin

A group of Super Junior fans is requesting clarification from SM Entertainment about Kangin’s rumored participation in chatrooms that shared illegal hidden camera footage.

On April 3, the online community “DC Inside Super Junior Gallery” released a statement requesting that SM Entertainment take an official position on the rumors.

Kangin’s name keeps surfacing in connection to the current controversies and scandals. This situation has caused us a lot of pain and we are releasing this request for clarification because we do not see a way out.

It is true that Kangin has disappointed his fans multiple times in the past due to his involvement in various controversies. But we would also like to share that there are many fans that continue to support him and cheer him on.

We want an official statement from SM Entertainment about the current situation, even if only to ensure that Super Junior D&E’s promotions do not suffer harm.

This statement is seemingly in response to the April 2 episode of SBS’s “Night of Real Entertainment,” which reported the names of some rumored members of Jung Joon Young’s KakaoTalk chatrooms: the model Lee Chul Woo, 2AM’s Jeong Jinwoon, and Super Junior’s Kangin.

At time of writing, Kangin had not released an official statement in response to these reports.

Seungri reportedly embezzled funds from Burning Sun

The latest report by Joongang Ilbo, released April 3, quotes a police source saying that some funds from Burning Sun were traced to bank accounts under different names, after which they were routed to Seungri.

According to the report, police found these suspicious accounts while tracking the flow of Burning Sun’s capital, after which they began a deeper investigation. They then summoned five individuals whose names were on the accounts and obtained testimony that “the accounts were used in relation to Seungri.”

Investigative authorities stated on April 2 that they suspect Seungri and the management of Burning Sun rerouted funds from the club not for tax evasion, but for personal use, and that the embezzled funds are tentatively estimated at tens of millions of won (approximately tens of thousands of dollars).

Previously, Seungri and former Yuri Holdings CEO Yoo In Suk were booked for embezzling from the club Monkey Museum.

A police source stated, “Though we can’t reveal specifics on the matter, we have already completed review of legal precedent in order to prove these crimes.”

Meanwhile, Seungri’s legal representative said, “We need to undergo questioning for these charges before we can release a statement.”

In addition to embezzlement, Seungri is under investigation for prostitution mediation, bribery, and sharing illegally taken footage.

Label SJ responds to reports of participation in group chat with Jung Joon Young

An official statement has been released regarding reports of Kangin participating in a group chat with Jung Joon Young.

On March 28, it was reported that another chatroom with Jung Joon Young included two other singers and a model, who were rumored to be cast members of the JTBC show “Hitmaker.”

The April 2 episode of “Night of Real Entertainment” mentioned these names to be Kangin, Jeong Jinwoon, and Lee Chul Woo.

In response, Label SJ shared the following statement about Kangin:

Hello, this is Label SJ’s statement regarding Kangin. It is true that he was temporarily in a chatroom with Jung Joon Young when starring in a variety show with him. The program was three years ago, so the chatroom no longer exists. Although he cannot remember what other cast members posted or had conversations about, Kangin says that he himself did not film or share illegal hidden camera footage at all. He has not been contacted by an [investigative] agency in regards to this, but if a request for cooperation is made, he will actively cooperate.

Roy Kim's agency releases official statement regarding questioning for chatroom participation

An official statement has been released regarding Roy Kim being reported to be in one of the chatrooms with Jung Joon Young.

On April 3, his agency Stone Music Entertainment shared the following statement:

Hello.

This is an official statement regarding singer Roy Kim.

Roy Kim is currently pursuing his studies in the United States and is adjusting his schedule to return to Korea for questioning as soon as possible. Furthermore, he will diligently participate in the necessary questioning.

Thank you.

you know, i still don't get why they keep hanging onto kangin? WHY is that guy not removed from suju yet? i honestly don't get it, i know he's on hiatus and all that, but the one who get married can not perform yet they keep backing up kangin, it's just stupid in my eyes just dump the guy, he's so toxic

I don't know if this is an accurate statement though, because fans didn't want Kangin in the group or performing anymore either. What is fucked up is that fans are giving Sungmin the same treatment they are giving that pos, and that SM is listening to what fans are saying and treating Sungmin and Kangin as equals.

i don't mean fans but more the agency? i really don't get why they don't cut ties with him, he has done nothing good for the group EVER, scandal after scandal
also i'm super salty about the whole sungmin thing, i get that fans were upset that he didn't tell them beforehand he was dating and getting married, i honestly get that, but that could've gotten resolved easily i think and in stead the label treats him like the big bad wolf, im so MAD

i also dont get why the other suju members are not speaking up about removing kangin from the group (which again, they should've done already earlier), but who knows whats going on behind the scenes

just give me back sungmin

Your comment made it sound like SM was letting Kangin still participate though, when he is getting the same treatment as Sungmin for the most part.... which is ridiculous that SM treats them the same. I agree with you over all! And yea, I don't understand why they haven't dropped him yet either, specially as fans want him out of the group. It isn't like anyone would have complained if they removed him at this point.

I am also bitter because it is fucking stupid. Honestly though, Sungmin is probably happy to get away and be able to spend time with his family. If I was him I would be so over being an idol. Why would I want fans that are going to treat me like that, etc.

Does sungmin have a job outside being a celebrity though? What i'm always thinking is if he got married surely he will need more money to support the family, just his savings from being an idol wont be enough. Wouldn't it such a pity to not be able to work right after he has more mouth to feed etc...

maybe he still receives a small amount from stuff he participated in (like the old albums/merch etc. that's sold) and maybe he saved up + invested most of the money he made and can get by just fine, who knows, i hope he's content and happy

butting in here, but he has an active youtube channel so he's prob making some revenues from that? even if they're not a lot + i know he had done some musical last year? or maybe that was in 2017, lmao i can't figure out time

Yeah I'm kinda wondering since people didnt really know what he's up to...... but I just googled his wiki, apparently his dad is a CEO? well, there's nothing to be worried about then. Eventhough he doesn't get much revenues from his Youtube & any music works, I think he's for sure has a side job in business area.

i re-read my comment but it doesn't sound like that, guess that's the downside of the internet haha but it's all good!

agreed, i am also bitter, i can imagine sungmin must be extra bitter though, i mean, i would feel so bad personally when you are getting married + doing something good and you get the same treatment as the f/ck up :/ i would be pissed and tbh, maybe he doesn't even want to come back anymore, i mean, i would be so salty i'm not sure i would want it, maybe he's just sitting at home waiting for his contract to finally expire, who knows
i hope he has a good side job or that he somehow still makes money off of suju because sungmin deserves it

I feel like with the members there's this sense of 'loyalty' or 'bro-ness' that is maintained, in that if they don't harm me, they're still my friend. or maybe most of the suju members aren't the best people themselves too

i remember after his second scandal, heechul mentioned it in a very annoyed way during knowing brother, esp bc i think it happened around suju's comeback. but yeah, heechul is not even really active in the group, so idk about the other members.

I'm not even a SuJu fan but I was really disappointed and frustrated with how the fans and SM Ent treated Sungmin.

Seeing that SM Ent is still somehow protecting Kangin, my eyes almost rolled out of its socket. I seriously do not understand it.

Whoops, I accidentally deleted my comment when I went to edit it. Luckily I am a weirdo and type everything up in notepad before I post on LJ lmao.

Wow. I was actually thinking about Jinwoon when all this came out, so I wouldn't be surprised. I used to love him, but his We Got Married painted him as so sexist and disgusting tbh. It ruined him for me, and I know, scripted TV show, yada yada, but when all this new originally broke he was my first thought.

Also, I will be super disappointed if it turns out Kangin is involved. Would I be surprised? Nope. But I would be really disappointed. I used to love him sfm, and have clearly dropped him over how much of a fucking mess he is, but I have always seen it more as he is an alcoholic with depression and other issues, which led to him being the mess that he is. Not an excuse for his behavior, but I just felt sorry for him, and sad for him in general, on top of my anger towards his dumb ass. If he is involved in all of this, I am going to be so disappointed and regret ever giving a fuck.

The only reason I don’t want Jinwoon to be involved is because my fav Yeeun dated him and I don’t want this grossness to be anywhere near her. But honestly, I would be suspicious of any dudes who are friends with JJY because that guy is so remorseless that I can’t see him refraining from boasting about his “conquests” to other dudes. He was able to play two faces with female acquaintances but I highly doubt he did the same with his male ones.

I love how all agency’s statements when their ppl get named is to state that said idol never film or share illegal vids...but how about watching it or not immediately existing the chat room as soon as that shit show up like an actual decent person? 🤔

Awe yea, that would suck for her so much. D: Though if he was anything like he portrayed himself on We Got Married, I feel sorry for her already! lmao

And yea, I agree! In a lot of cases I feel like you cannot judge someone based on the friends they have. I don't agree with everything my friends say and do, etc. But it is clear as day that JJY is the type of friend that 100% is going to rope you into to all the nasty shit he is involved in. I don't feel like you can just casually be friends with that guy and not have been made privy to his videos and services. Like you said, he thrives off of boasting about his “conquests.” If you aren't going to praise him for the gross shit hes doing and stroke his ego, you probably are just dead weight to him.

I think with Kangin case it's the same as with Hitmaker's PD clarification, they were in work related chat together not private one, but "being in chatroom with JJY" bring a lot of unsavoury assumption now.

I feel the same about Kangin honestly. He obviously has a lot of issues and it made him make horrible decisions. I'm not excusing his behavior.

To OP- thank you so much for all these updates especially in the beginning when every page refresh brought a tidal wave of more fucked up news! It’s emotionally taxing just reading these things much less having to compile them so am really appreciative!

Nothing surprises me about this case anymore. I need less speculation and just charges all around at this point. I can't imagine the women in the industry now being scared anything will be released about them. Your career would be destroyed if it was leaked you had a one night stand or relationship with any of these people

My expectations for Kangin did not even exist and yet I am disappointed.

They really should look into police and prosecution bribery on a larger scale when it comes to these agencies and other big conglomerates. Everywhere in the world if the money is talking, the criminals are walking.

Here's my Q: are these videos so common that can't remember if you saw one or not, or are you all just f-cks trying to skate by because you don't want to admit that one was shared and you didn't report it.

Because I would remember if someone sent me a video of a person. Period. So either Kangin & Label SJ know he saw some, and are being careful as f-ck with that statement, or they're so ubiquitous that no one knows when or where they saw some.

Also, use the money trail is get Seungri, get him. It's easier to trace than sexual crimes, thanks to accounts, banks, blah blah.

if the male members of the public interviewed on the streets in that one video are anything to go by, this is ubiquitous and commonplace. they said it happens all the time and men often share such videos. also that politician (i can't remember who it was :() who said if these men had committed a crime then "all korean men had therefore committed a crime". so i'm going with "they've seen so many videos they can't remember which ones were jjy's".

SuJu fans really have power that they can force the label to make a formal statement. Well....they've proven their power many times like SuJu13 only, removing Sungmin and all other things that shows their power.

and thanks OP for keeping us updated.
