The...only thing is ofc is that both of these can be true at once: he has time on his contract, but he doesn't plan to renew. I saw another thing saying there was some statement forthcoming from SM. Idk idk it wouldn't surprise me basically. In the original story it quoted industry reps as saying the rest of EXO was gonna renew though. And then I'm like, ok but Lay? He's not even participating now! Why would he renew lmao.

I honestly think they should all do whatever is the best for their own careers and if music + acting is too much for DO he should move to another agency. I wouldn't be surprised if a few members don't renew (and i'm not entirely unconvinced this chen solo album is to placate him for the time being).

Lay might still renew because he uses a lot of SM's producing and songwriting resources and basically still does whatever he wants.

I think there are some negotiations happening rn though, that's why the tour keeps getting postponed and there are barely any other news. It fits with what happened with SNSD during contract negotiations in 2017.

On the one hand, he seems to hate the massive attention, and I don't buy exo are buddies. They're coworkers who have learned to tolerate each other.

On the other hand, he's done pretty well. Even if sm didn't help him, they haven't stopped him, and by now they must be willing to help him. I think if he wants to sing, they'll let him. I think he likes performing, though I don't know if he cares about dome performances.

Yeah, that's why Kyungsoo went to Jeju for a short vacation with Sehun, or why he met up with Baekhyun on vacation in Japan, or why he recorded songs with Chanyeol for his soundcloud in his free time. Because those are things you do with your coworkers. Fact is EXO are big enough and rich enough to live on their own now, but they still choose to live together in dorms. I'll never get this "tolerable coworkers" angle some fans push.

I will stan him always, even if he doesn't renew (and I'll cry at their separation). But I get it, his life is exhausting, got his first holiday after 7 years and maybe he got tired of dividing his life between Exo and acting which are both really demanding.

But I have to let you know that maybe he will not renew because finally we are getting married. joking ofc, I just lost 10 years of my life at the post title.
