this is the first time I've found Ryujin good. She stood out in the BTS highlight reels, but in the MV and performances she was really overshadowed...here her facial expressions are on point though!
I find this kind of product placement so tacky, the cars add nothing to the video, they don't even look good the way the are presented in the background.
If they'd actually used the cars in some way I wouldn't have found it so bad.
Lol after OP's comment the Kia-licence plate just jumped out in my eyes right at the start. These kind of obvious sponsors are so tacky, it's not even directed towards their demographic. I'm more inspired to buy the clothes they wear bc they look so cool here.
Also I just started practising this dance today in dance class and while we're not at the back breaking parts yet, my wrists & arms are aching from all the twisting. This dance really kills you(r muscles) if you're not that flexible lmao.
(Also OT but did omona change it so one user can't have more than one post in queue anymore? The heck)
I might be dumb but why are so many K-pop acts teaming up with car companies these days? I kind of get creating brand awareness with videos like this but at the end of the day what type of K-pop fan is actually out there buying cars?
It lets people get familiar with their brands who might not be ready to buy or lease a car now but will in the future. the association of it being a cooler/youth oriented brand, focused on entertainment, helps sales and most usually park a couple test models out front of venues.
honda civic saw an uptick when they started sponsoring the Honda Civic tour so they did it for years and Hyundai had their first run of electric KONA models sell out in pre-sale due to a push from CBX doing a CF for them. I don't think they would have sold out with just the CBX cf but they attributed crossing the sold out marker because of it in Korea. ...why do I know this?!
The Soul especially is being pushed to millennial as a younger ~fun entry level Crossover. I have one...I don't agree but it it is what it is. I think those in the vid are 2020 versions? Or Korean exclusives because the 2019 doesn't look like that.
Interesting, that does make sense. So it really is more to get people to take that first step and engage with the brand rather than expecting them to straight up go buy a car?
Maybe I'm projecting my own social circle too much but being proper adult age with almost no friends who can even afford to buy cars (lots of whom don't even have their license) this is always puzzling to me. Cosmetics and phones make perfect sense but I've yet to really get the whole car thing. Then again certain groups have that segment of loaded fans and EXO and BTS getting them to buy into it for example is not that surprising.

exactly sometimes it's all about just subconscious brand recognition that gets pinged in your mind later. You can kind of see it happen here in a small way with clothing/make up and hair looks...the more group use the similar style the more people warm up to the idea of it even if they'd never do it for themselves. Like mullets or the clothing Itzy for example wear this comeback is a female vers of what NCT127 debuted with in firetruck but everyone hated it then...and still do it doesn't work for everyone.
I think it's something like a person something like 8 engagements before they look into it/consider buying. That's why car brands sponsor things so much, it familiarizes you with the brand without feeling the pressure of being sold to or knowing your being sold to subconsciously and then you're one engagement closer to considering purchase.
At least when Got7 did this with Adidas, they could actually be wearing the clothes. It's a performance version, so they can't even have the girls riding around or having fun in the cars
Yes, she is "creepy" smile. I like her the most, followed by Lia and Yeji. (However, with Lia, while the best singer in the group, I feel she's struggling with her facial expressions while performing, which affects her stage presence. So I'm waiting to see if she will improve over time.)
