In hope for Park JaeBum to return to 2PM, 2PM fansite UnderGround donates 10 million KRW to Haiti, recently devastated by massive earthquake.

The in-charge of UnderGround revealed about the donation on the fansite on 22nd January. It is known that the site has donated the amount under the name of ‘People who are waiting for 2PM Leadja Park JaeBum‘.

An in-charge of the site also said, “We will use part of the money we collect in hope for JaeBum’s return to earthquake victims in Haiti who need this money, this is one of the most meaningful things we as fans who wish for JaeBum to return can do, and we hope that relay the message to JaeBum in Seattle that we are all together.”

Fans comment to the donation drive with comments like, “I’m sure JaeBum will be excited at this donation activity”, “Thanks to JaeBum, we can convey some warmth to people in need. I believe JaeBum thinks the same.”

Meanwhile, Dong Bang Shin Ki fansite DongNeBangNe has also started their donation drive to collect donations for the earthquake victims in Haiti since 19th January. Until 22nd January, about 1.5 million KRW has been collected, the drive will continue until the 28th.

Seo Taiji’s fans are also doing the same. They will donate for KBS ‘Love’s Request’ every year his birthday on 21st February. And for this year, according to Seo Taiji’s official homepage, they will be doing a donation drive for earthquake victims in Haiti.

That's great to hear. :) 10 Million KRW is about USD8,677.

You know what...I'm actually on the fence about this. I do think it was great of them to donate, but I absolutely freaking hate that they would drag fandom drama into something that is fundamentally more important than the Jay scandal. They could have simply done it in the name of 2PM and left it at that. :/

I think that's what they did. They did that drive for 10,000 won for when Jae's back on an album and instead of just leaving it until/if he comes back, they decided it would be better used for Haiti and that they boys would rather they do that with their money. If anything, I'd say it's the best thing hottests ever did. That's a shitload of money for a group of fangirls to round up.

That's awesome. And I like when fans band together to do something good. I've been getting emails from some of the random fandoms I follow, asking to make a donation as part of a larger group, fans of 'x' donating for Haiti. And idk, I think it's cool. To do something good, and do it with people in a community you identify with.

grosser than not helping the tragedy at all? I don't get what the problem is here. They donated this money to aid the cause as a group of people who share a common wish/ interest/ whatever, Jaebum's return. It's not like they're donating money to Haiti to get him back directly.

Also: hasn't Underground been doing all their charity work under the name of ‘People who are waiting for 2PM Leadja Park JaeBum‘? This isn't something new for them. It seems to me instead of being known as a donation from 'Underground' it's a donation from 'People who are waiting for 2PM Leadja Park Jaenu'. Essentially the same thing, but worded differently.

10 million KRW is 10 million KRW. Who cares what name they did it under, they still donated money. I'm pretty sure they didn't threaten to not donate until Jay comes back so I'm not seeing where the selfishness is coming from. Different fanclubs donate money under their idol's name for different causes all the time so why is this an issue?

people donate money for the sake of religion, because it makes themselves feel better, to impress other people around them, and for other selfish reasons, not just out of the kindness of their hearts. in the end why does it even matter if they brought fandom into this as long as they're not wasting the money on some other pointless "we want jay back" project?

Great news, nice to see entertainement/fandom moving people to donate for a good cause.

“Thanks to JaeBum, we can convey some warmth to people in need. I believe JaeBum thinks the same.”

Even if this act will make no difference in Jay returning or not, it's clear that it was that idea that helped in moving some of the donors.

People donate for a variety of unknown reasons, from good will to publicity, religion, self-satisfaction and a lot more. In the end, getting help is all that matters to who's receiving so I have no qualms with what moved a group in doing so.

i would rather they donated money and attached an unrelated cause to it than not donate money at all. sure, it would've been better to just put it down as fans of 2pm, or to just put it down as money for haiti, but in the end it's money to help people who are suffering. would people rather they continue to boycott the rest of the boys and plaster subways with posters instead of organizing their efforts into something that could save lives?
