Why exactly can't he received vocal training right now? It's not like it takes hours and hours a day, minimum. He can be learning and practicing techniques, and connect with instructors over the web. this annoys me.

though I definitely believe he can't sing in the range got7's song live in, if he practices more we could possible get more lower tone songs, and then Jinyoung challenge DO for chocolate sex voice delivered via grandpa sweaters.

Also, he sounds like he referencing a spot of trouble/depression. I wonder if that was when he got really thin.

Idk is someone out-right denying him vocal training or if he can't afford it (??) but yeah, if he has these ambitions he should have the means to fulfill them. He's lucky enough to be in a big company in a relatively-to-very successful group to be able to get these changes to develop his other areas. Idk it could be that he's lacking direction, I mean he was street-casted so he didn't even initially have these aspirations but they were given to him so maybe it took him some time to come to terms with what he can do and what he wants to do (and if you're right, potential depression could be one culprit).

Tbh - and this can be argued for and against and I don't wanna dismiss his efforts and skills but - he's come very far riding on his good looks alone (okay maybe the martial arts as well but that hasn't been relevant in years) so I would like to see him branch out more on his other assets, like writing his own music and lyrics (the part about wanting to write more in-depth poetic lyrics was interesting, I hope he continues developing on that ambition).

While not sleeping at 4 am I wondered why he decided he wanted to get into writing and stuff.... From what we know, it's not a natural fit (math kid in school, cast for looks, etc.). He clearly works hard, but maybe copying his bandmates who have long been interested in producing music isn't the answer....

But at least he's articulating goals and ambitions now. I expect he has to know looks and tricking got him here, and he lacks Jackson's personality, so maybe he struggled for a bit.... Plus he's in a foreign country.

Yeah maybe. Or maybe the interest grew while in the industry.

I've always had a hard time figuring him out, and he's never caught my attention strongly enough for me too pay close attention, so I'm not the right person to really draw any conclusions lol. And yet... imo he just seems to float by and has mentioned interest in some things iirc but I've read him say several times how he just also spend his days basically doing nothing but playing games or scrolling through youtube etc (the rest prob do it too but no one has mentioned it in the same way as Mark). I just want to hear him have some goals and then work towards them.

Maybe I'm just projecting because I would become (and have become) anxious when I haven't had any goals I've been working towards or doing something to better myself.

That is what he always says, I used to justify it because of personality. He's shown up for more stuff lately in China (though I still think that's fraught for a Taiwanese American) so someone is helping him book stuff....

I like that he’s just doing what he kinda wants now. Even though I enjoyed his composed tracks, I feel like he was just dabbling in everything to see what sticks. And at least now he has the photoshoots and fanservice that he can carve a niche in, it’s heartening to see it
