it's really sad when the mom has to basically beg people to not go after her daughter's appearance, ugh :(

this is so sad. people reveal the true nature of their character when they post malicious stuff online and they never think they're doing anything bad

How can people be so mean? It breaks my heart that her mother has to beg everyone to stop. That just isn't right

People can be so cruel. And because of comments like those, idols change their looks so they can feel accepted

Chaeryung worked her ass off since she was a child to improve her talents and stayed loyal to JYPE to finally get to debut just to be judged by her visuals, when she honestly looks pretty and compatible with the other girls. They have nothing to point things at her, so they try to affect the most futile thing.

wow. and this is the group that i think has equally visually pleasing members.
i know her sister was also discouraged about her appearance and i just dont see it.

People just gotta tear down anyone that doesn't fit their extremely narrow view of "pretty" huh? I don't understand what they think to gain from trashtalking kids(!!)

that's sad
i hope in the future they find a way to not let those comments mess with her head or feelings
i wish i could say this is the worst they gonna see from netizens ... but that's far from the truth

tbh i kinda feel this instigate haters instead of shut their mouth or make them feel bad, in the past netizens made fun and trash idols parents too 🤔

But I can see why her mom felt the need to protect her

I feel like this is when you need the girls' management to be working with the parents ahead of time? It should be their role to tell her not to engage or to send the malicious comments over to them, where they can pursue legal action if they're bad enough. I don't know if there's really anything effective you can do against internet hate (or that companies are very good at protecting their artists) but at least that gives family members an outlet without having them step in directly which seems like it can only make things worse.

It would be nice to know both artist and family have a strong support system, and access to professional help if needed

Sigh it must be hard as a mum to face such things, especially when you have 2 daughters in the industry?

people can be the absolute worst :( it hurts my heart that her mom was obviously so distraught about the comments she saw that she felt the need to interject

she's so frickin cute and pretty and even if you didn't think so, whatever happened to 'if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all'??? i really hope people don't get in on her mom now cause netizens can be brutal

Since I don’t follow international kpop fans on Twitter, I’m so confused - a lot of the hate is from DIA fans??? Here I thought they were pretty small and un-noteworthy like the group they follow (and I say this as a fan of DIA lol)

Eugh I think I know which fan you’re talking about. That user even doubled down when people showed her Chaeryeong’s mums post and quoted her awful tweet using the hashtag that Itzy fans made for Chaeryeong.

All Dia stans that I come across on twitter are infamous for being trolls. It’s kind of their identity now, which is kinda sad because I really do want DIA to succeed but their fans......... eek. :/

Dia fans and Blinks do the most on Twitter, truthfully speaking it's mostly girl group Stans and I say this a girl group Stan. They're always stirring shit up with most of the fandoms.

Edit: Chrome is fucking up and now blocking Youtube embed links randomly sometimes through their XSS Auditor and I'm too lazy to fix this.

i understand that her mother is sad about hate comments and chaeryeong does not deserve them. but... it's the entertainment industry. even the most gorgeous and talented people receive hate comments. it's best to just ignore them, even if it's hard. replying to them won't change anything, it actually just made it worse cause now netizen will shit on her for not being able to tolerate hate comments.

This is really sad. I hope her trolls retroactively grow some humanity and at least keep their opinions to themselves. The girl is cute, but I see how she doesn't fit the cookie cutter mould. If it was anywhere else, she would be called gorgeous. Because it's Korea, her mom has to beg people to not be mean to her.

oh dear. I get why she felt she needed to protect her babies but this is just going to rile people up more knowing their mom's also hurting by the comments :(

god, the fact that her mom has to step in just breaks my heart. she just wants to protect her girls but i'm not sure how much good this will do.

this whole scenario is disheartening, because if she lets these comments get to her then it's going to really mess with her self-confidence and she might go to drastic lengths just to change her appearance to please these same people criticizing her looks but then they're going to turn around and criticize her for trying to change. it's such a vicious cycle and you really can't win. even the most gorgeous people in the world have people hating on their looks. you can't please everyone and if you're a celeb, you really are better off ignoring all of that hate because until people learn to keep their opinions to themselves or improve their outlooks, it will never stop. being in the entertainment industry is so stressful because everything you do is picked apart under a microscope. i wish this girl all the best, she's young but talented and this is going to be a long road.

this makes me so mad because it's so disgusting to be malicious towards a child and not only that but jealous! (chaeryeong is beautiful. the fuck are these trolls on?)

i hope itzy THRIVES and becomes the new asia's girlgroup!

feeling real iffy about the 'just deal with it/don't have weak mentality/this is showbiz' comments i keep seeing regarding this issue. it only enables this toxic behaviour and validates it. it's especially interesting how i keep seeing the same twitter stans saying this while they printscreen every mean comment about their bias to send to x company legal team.

Unsurprising but nevertheless disgusting. And it's always a bunch of police sketch looking assholes who have the nerve to obsessively check these beautiful girls for "flaws" they can use to make them miserable with. If she's not considered cute then most of us must be total dogs.

Being mean about people's looks is something I loathe in general but going after these young kids??? Ergh

From: [identity profile] cuizy.livejournal.com
I don’t think ppl should be mean on the internet about her looks but also she is in the entertainment industry and if not judged outright there will still be hidden things like maybe she doesn’t attract as many fans/ not as popular as her prettier members. (And I guess the converse is true if she ends up more popular fans of other members will probably be jealous cuz she’s not as ‘pretty’ to them etc basically using looks like talent personality etc whatever else to judge an idol)

Yeah I don’t know what to say, the idol industry is so superficial anyways with the super skinny girls and their perfect faces I’m tired of their beauty standards and usually don’t check anymore. I did think while watching sixteen that she and her sister were very talented but would probably not make it into twice cuz they were too young and their faces were so different from the others. I did support Chaeyeon in produce 48 and glad she made it in the group she has such a strong stage presence and happy Chaeryeong got to debut with JYP
