after months of hard work and pushing from shawols: jonghyun finally got the award that he deserved for poet l artist (though it goes without saying that there should be more where that one came from). jonghyun was one of the ten recipients of the album bonsang award during the album portion of the 33rd golden disc awards on january 6th. fellow groupmates minho and taemin accepted the award on his behalf. according to an article released on january 7th, upon learning that jonghyun would be given the award, minho and taemin both cleared out their personal solo schedules so they would be able to attend and accept on his behalf. when minho told jonghyun's family about accepting the award, he said: "this is an award hyung is receiving so of course we should go and accept on his behalf."

according to media, poet l artist received the seventh highest ranking score of the thirty nominees for album bonsang: 11.2/30.

(It's however..... a thing.... that even tho Jjong sold the most out of all solo artists this year GDA's the only award show to acknowledge him (so far).)

part of me suspects part of the reason for SM skipping award season was due to them ignoring his album completely but that's for another post to discuss

tbh. i don't think sm skipping award season has anything to do with ... most of the shows not giving the album the attention it deserves. but, then again, i don't have much faith in sm when it comes to either shinee or jonghyun.

I don't think it's the whole reason but a factor into their decision. Shortlists are released to agencies a lot earlier than nominations are announced, if they're anything like those in north america. I don't think it's the whole reason but it wouldn't surprise me if it was on the list of why they chose to skip out.

re: the lack of nominations he's gotten this year. it's something that's been weighing on the fandom throughout award season. most of us expected he'd at least get a nomination for best male artist at the mamas, but nope. we also expected he'd get a nom for the smas but ... there was an entire mess there that ended with him not getting one. tl;dr: neither shinee or jonghyun were nominated, k-shawols blew up and spammed them in multiple areas with questions as to why that was (faxing, phone calls, @-ing on twitter, emails) and, in the end, they added shinee into the nominations but not jonghyun.

he's nominated for gaon chart, but def won't win. the last chance is the kmas, really. shawols are still fighting tooth and nail to get him and the album the recognition it deserves, but most of us are well aware of why it hasn't: the shows that snubbed him were too afraid to nominate him.

tbqh i still can't believe that he's really gone... like logically, i know he is, but emotionally, it's as though i haven't fully accepted it? but i have? idk it is difficult to put into words.
i have not yet listened to the album — it was too heartbreaking — but maybe one day i can.
from how everyone speaks of it, it seems to be an exceptional album.
im happy that it is getting acknowledged as such.

I def started tearing up once Minho and Taemin walked up to the microphone. I also recently watched the "From Now On..." performance from their "The Best From Now On" concert and just T.T. I was literally just sitting there with the waterworks just flowing freely. Sigh. It was so hard to watch.
