FNC admits that for some reason, Kwon Kwang Jin had some exchanges with a fan and after discussing with him, they decided he will take a hiatus from the group to reflect on his actions

He will be away from the group until the truth is known about his relationship with said fan

On December 18, a post titled “An idol who sexually harasses fans and dates fan site owners” began trending on an online community.

According to the post, Kwon Kwang Jin had allegedly dated fans since his debut and had sexually harassed fans at the group’s fan sign events. The poster included personal anecdotes of the member making sexually offensive comments to fans as well as objectifying them by evaluating their faces and bodies. The post went on to accuse Kwon Kwang Jin of speaking ill of his fellow N.Flying members, his company, and fans.

After the post spread online, many fans began to demand Kwon Kwang Jin’s withdrawal from the group and organized a boycott.

The following day on December 19, FNC Entertainment released an official statement regarding the incident.

Hello, this is FNC Entertainment.

We are here to announce our company’s stance in regards to N.Flying’s Kwon Kwang Jin.

N.Flying has been showcasing enjoyable music while working hard to deliver feelings of joy to fans.

After having meeting and confirming the details regarding Kwon Kwang Jin that is currently circulating online, we have determined that the parts relating to [Kwon Kwang Jin’s] relationship with a fan and the sexual harassment allegations posted by some netizens are not true.

Because we have confirmed that he did have personal interactions with fans outside of official schedules, after long discussions, it has been decided that he will voluntarily leave the team, as such actions are considered improper for [an idol] member. Until we establish the facts, all of Kwon Kwang Jin’s activities will be halted and he will be having a period of self-reflection.

Additionally, we will be confirming the facts surrounding the posts online with both sides and if [such posts] are proven to be false rumors, we will be taking strong action.

We promise that without any changes to the other N.Flying members’ promotional activities, we will deliver great music with an improved image from now on.

I personally do not think bad of idols who dates their fans. Fans are people too. It will only bother me if the idol is dating a lot of people at the same time. However, if he really makes those nasty remarks towards fans...no thanks. Please exit now.

re: dating fans depends on a lot of factors for me, some articles have specifically said fansite masters which is definitely risky :/

yeah he was with CNB during their Japan indie days but got replaced with Jungshin before they debuted in Korea, I don't remember why though

He's the bassist so pretty unfortunate for N.Flying's sound when if his absence becomes official but they could manage without him (although they were never really popular to begin with so idk if they have much of a future after this)

i think they could have a future but it all depends on how FNC handles it, the main singer could definitely have a career i think, he's really good imo and it would be a waste of talent
i feel bad for the other members though

it's a shame they are not that popular, i liked their hot potato song so much, after that they fell flat again, i think fnc just didn't give them the right songs to attract the right amount of fans, which is really too bad

also, they aren't debuting a new group for no reason, with AOA's contracts coming up and with FTI enlisting + CNBLUE being both a mess and enlisting... and nflying not doing much, they have no choice but to debut a new group

Yeah the main vocal Hweseung can definitely make it, he boosted N.Flying's popularity when he joined them and he's the most well-known member. I feel like they were starting to go somewhere with The Real and Hot Potato (I don't remember their last comeback at all tbh), definitely a shame if we don't see any more of them.

FNC's planning to debut a Chinese boy group next year, idk about when they plan to do another Korean boy group though. SF9's doing better than N.flying and might hit it big one day, I guess there's hope for them. The new girl group Cherry Bullet got predebut hype too. But yeah it's not looking so good for FNC right now lol

I haven't followed AOA very well lately so others would know better than me, I'm feeling very 50-50? Their comeback doing well amongst other things (like FNC making Chanmi a YouTube channel) makes me wanna believe they'll all renew, and idk if any the members other than Seolhyun and Jimin have anywhere else to go if they want to stay in entertainment. Don't want to be after-the-fact person as I never comment about this dude but I never liked him and wonder if it might have been underlying creep vibes that did it. I never thought he was a particularly good bassist, not funny, cute (imo) or charming and I don't get why they put him in another group after shelving him for CN Blue when he was never that appealing as an idol to begin with (Jungshin was awkward from the start but outshone him even as a shoehorned member). I hope none of the other members are like this as I quite liked N Flying but even if they're not it really sucks for them to have him drag them down like this. They got a new Produce member after they debuted so idk why they didn't get them a better new bassist as well.

I've already been very vocal about what I think of idols dating fans on here so not going to write another essay on that, it's just not done. The fact that he's getting the temporary boot when they kept him on for as long as they have shows that he must have really messed up.
