GFRIEND is gearing up for their return!

On December 17, industry representatives reported that the group is currently preparing to release a studio album in January, making it their second studio album since “LOL” in July 2016.

In response to the reports, the group’s agency Source Music confirmed, “GFRIEND is preparing to make a comeback aimed for January of next year.”

This upcoming release will be their first comeback since “Sunny Summer” in July 2018.

Fingertip is soooooo good, I think the release would’ve worked better now, as before fans didn’t want them straying from their original cute, relatable concept much

Especially now that them and other groups that debuted in 2015 are hitting the 4 year mark (like Twice), I think that this is the perfect time to try new concepts. Otherwise they might run into Apink’s situation - still have a profitable fanbase but lose general interest. It wasn’t until this year that Apink really wowed people again because they were finally allowed to do a mature concept.

I love Fingertip because it seems like the girls LOVED it, especially SinB. Granted I love the cutesy look for them (can't help myself) but I love what they tried to do with the badass girl concept.

FINALLY
I really liked their mini-albums this year, especially the bsides, and the packaging have been so pretty!!! (unlike LOL haha) I'm really looking forward to a new album!
Also people keep (rightfully!) talking about Fingertip, but I would love for GFriend to do something like Say My Name again

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought LOL's packaging was....a choice, lmfao!! I'm praying hoping that now that they're 4 years into their career rather than 2, they'll go with something a bit more mature for their January album.

Hahaha I feel like they had a lot of ideas for a special packaging but not enough budget to really pull it off back then, so LOL ends up looking really... amateur? and I've watched many unboxing videos of it. Time for the Moon Night however is really pretty (I got this one, LOL is stuck in my "to buy... maybe" list)
I would LOVE Navillera 2.0, I love this song so much! But I wouldn't be surprised if they go with something more like Rough/Time for the Moon Night since both did really well on charts at a similar season

I could go on for a while because I think GFriend actually has a really strong discography

Season of Glass
-> White, a slower song with pretty lyrics, early SNSD feels

LOL
-> Gone With the Wind, should have been saved for an Autumn repackage
-> Distance, reggae-lite ballad like Kpop sometimes do
-> Compass, basically f(x)'s Airplane 2.0

The Awakening
-> Crush, epic new jack string closure for their best mini-album (at least to me)
-> Contrail, another slower track but pretty cool

Parallel/Rainbow
-> Ave Maria, retro feels, upbeat
-> Red Umbrella, city-pop inspired slower track

Time for the Moon Night
-> Tik Tik, funkier than what they usually do

There's also always one b-side that is 100% GFriend's signature sound (and probably the ones you saw mentioned?). I always love these tracks but I also like that GFriend aren't always playing it easy and trying different things with their title tracks (even if it doesn't pay off).
Those would be: Rainbow, Flower Garden, Windy Windy, Hear the Wind Sing, LOL, maybe Water Flower too (this one is full-on anime)

Can't wait!! I am one of those people that hated Fingertip at first but now I appreciate the bop that it is, and I wouldn't mind them releasing something with that kind of style/concept again
