EXO prove they are far from slowing down as their new album Don't Mess Up My Tempo scores the boy band their first-ever Top 40 entry on the Billboard 200 as well as a slew of new, high-flying records.

Don't Mess Up My Tempo debuts on the Billboard 200 at No. 23, the K-pop outfit's highest-charting entry ever. Tempo begins with 23,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Nov. 8, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 19,000 are album sales.

This is easily EXO's best sales week in America to date, beating out their previous best from 2015 when the EXOdus: The 2nd Album sold 6,000 in traditional album sales. The guys first entered the Billboard 200 with EXOdus in 2015 (landing at No. 95 on the Billboard 200) and last year bowed with The War: The 4th Album (which hit No. 87 and sold 7,000 equivalent album units with 5,000 in traditional album sales). EXO splinter group EXO-K also sent their Overdose EP to No. 129 in May 2014. EXO now become just one of three K-pop acts with three or more entries on the Billboard 200.

sm didn’t tweet about the official amazon etc links until several days after the pre order was announced so lots of fans already ordered through their typical mediums (ktown4u etc) and they were STILL skeptical until sm confirmed again they’d count for all charts. ktown4u sales broke the preorder record at like 154k so many of those were prob american fan orders.

they were #6 on the pure sales chart lol so we got that part down. now it’s time to come up with a good streaming strategy. historically exo’s repacks don’t sell as much as the main cb (with the exception of growl which outsold) so we will see. Sm never gives exo-ls an appropriate amount of time to recover and this time is no different smh.

plan things out? Sm? HA! they couldn’t even plan this comeback properly. they’re already preparing to put them back on tour in the first half of next year so they can rake in more coins.

the only thing we can rely on are exo-ls doing what they do which is support and buy. their winter minis always sell well so I think the repack will do fine, just may not see a higher number on billboard.

I thought so too considering that they gave the fans a 1 month pre order window and selling in physical stores (B&N/Target/Walmart) I saw lots of tweets of it being sold out in Target too, plus in Pop they got top 15 of all time sold. Prob due to SM underestimating the international fanbase/not shipping enough since the stores that were sold out didn't get a re-order.

But honestly if they got a couple thousand more, easily top 20 or top 15 if they sold like 5,000 more. If the streaming were better, that would've helped. I lol'ed at Kris getting 5 good for him tho. Still, a really good achievement for Kpop and a personal best for the band who never done promo in US. Next time if SM confirms early about links/etc. I could def. see EXO rising higher! And with how album sales are counted now and changing landscape, more artists now than ever who didn't chart are charting and doing well. Even Joji got #3 last week which shocked me like 57,000 damn his streaming must be high, cause compared to EXO his fanbase is prob less dedicated.
